Zombie Apocalypse: I Have Safe Zone Superpower-Chapter 601: Rebel
’So what if that Silas is her husband...?’ he thought, his gaze lowering for a brief moment before hardening again.
’I am her soulmate... that is something deeper... something undeniable...’
General Frank was disappointed, especially when he heard Jade say in a calm voice,
"Whatever, I am leaving."
He pointed in Jade’s direction and yelled, "This is the good son that I have raised! I should have strangled him at birth!"
After that, he left and stayed outside. He waited for the right opportunity and finally motioned to his people.
The rebellion began.
At first, his subordinates moved carefully, their footsteps quiet, their expressions controlled as they approached various departments within the base.
Their plan was simple: seize key personnel, hold them as hostages, and prevent any suspicion from arising too early.
"We’re not here to harm anyone," one of them whispered under his breath, his voice tight but resolute. "Just hold them... that’s all."
They truly believed it.
After all, they had already tested this theory in secret.
In one of their private experiments, a person had harmed another without any real intent to kill or injure, and surprisingly, the magical power hadn’t expelled them from the base.
That single incident filled them with misplaced confidence.
’As long as our intent isn’t malicious... we’re safe...’
That was what they believed.
And so, step by step, they advanced.
Soon, half of them reached the department and swiftly took control of the people there, restraining them before any alarm could be raised.
For a fleeting moment, triumph flickered across their faces.
’It’s working... We can move to the next phase ...’
But before that thought could even settle... everything changed.
In the very next second, every single one of General Frank’s subordinates vanished.
They were not killed. They were not injured. They were simply... gone.
Teleported out of the base as if they had never been there to begin with.
The sudden silence that followed was deafening.
General Frank, who had been waiting eagerly for confirmation, froze when the news reached him.
"How...?" he muttered under his breath, his brows furrowing deeply. "Where did I go wrong...?"
Before he could even process it further, the sound of firm footsteps echoed through his home.
The door burst open.
Several guards entered without hesitation.
"You are under arrest," the leading guard announced coldly, his eyes sharp and unwavering.
Frank’s eyes widened in shock, and he instinctively struggled, his voice rising in protest.
"This is illegal! Do you even know what you’re doing?!"
The leading guard let out a low chuckle, his lips curling slightly.
"Illegal?" he repeated mockingly. "You might want to think about your own actions before talking about the law."
Jade, who had been nearby, stepped forward, his brows knitting together.
Even though his relationship with his father had grown strained, something inside him refused to stay silent.
"What’s going on?" Jade demanded, his voice firm yet controlled.
The guard glanced at him briefly before exchanging looks with the others. "This doesn’t concern you," he replied flatly. "Stay out of it."
Jade’s frown deepened, irritation flickering in his eyes.
"He’s my father," he shot back. "At the very least, I deserve to know what charges you’re putting on him."
For a moment, the guards hesitated.
Then the leading guard spoke, his tone turning grim.
"General Frank is guilty of attempting to rebel against the base representative Miss Ivy."
Jade’s eyes widened, disbelief crashing into him like a wave. He turned sharply toward his father, his voice trembling despite his effort to remain steady.
"Is that true?" he asked, his gaze searching Frank’s face. "Tell me... is it true?"
Frank immediately shook his head, almost too quickly, panic flashing in his eyes.
"No! That’s not true!" he insisted, his voice rising as he spoke.
"I’m loyal...completely loyal to the base leader! I sent my subordinates to deal with a few corrupt individuals who were bad-mouthing the leader. That’s all! This... this is just a misunderstanding!"
Jade’s jaw tightened as he listened. For a brief second, hope flickered inside him, fragile and desperate.
He turned toward the guards. "You heard him," he said, trying to keep his voice steady. "If it’s a misunderstanding... can’t this be resolved?"
The guards stared at him as if he had just said something absurd.
"Are you pretending to be stupid," one of them asked bluntly, "or do you actually believe that?"
Another guard scoffed. "Your father is lying. And not even convincingly."
Hearing those words, Jade’s hands clenched into fists at his sides, his nails digging into his palms.
"I believe him," he said through gritted teeth. "He wouldn’t do something like this if he said he didn’t."
Frank, upon hearing that, felt something twist painfully inside his chest.
’He knows... he must know ...’
And yet, Jade still chose to stand by him.
Guilt flooded Frank’s heart, forcing him to avert his gaze.
The guards, however, had no patience left.
"We’re not here to listen to this nonsense," the leading guard said coldly.
Without another word, they grabbed Frank and began dragging him away.
Frank struggled for a moment, instinctively resisting, but when he noticed that Jade wasn’t moving... wasn’t stopping them... His strength seemed to drain away.
His resistance faded, replaced by a hollow resignation.
Soon, Frank was taken for interrogation. At first, he resisted. But the base had changed.
Technology had advanced in ways that made lies almost meaningless.
There existed a power, one inspired directly by Ivy, that could distinguish truth from falsehood with terrifying accuracy.
A person had managed to condense their ability into a small, glowing sphere, a ball of power that could be forced upon someone.
Once consumed, it stripped away the freedom to choose between truth and lies.
If commanded to tell the truth, they could not lie.
If commanded to lie, they could not speak the truth.
Under such conditions, resistance became futile. And so... Frank broke.
"I... I planned the rebellion..." he confessed, his voice trembling as sweat dripped down his face. "I wanted to overthrow Ivy... take control of the base ..."
