Chapter 600: Chapter 600: Horror Of Flood

His thoughts spiraled uncontrollably as regret gnawed at him.

’Everything... everything started going wrong the moment she appeared... Ivy... she’s nothing but a disaster in my life ...’

He even considered lowering his head and asking for help, the thought pressing heavily against his pride.

But the moment that idea surfaced, another followed just as quickly.

’The moment I bow my head... it will roll off my shoulders ...’

The imagined cold blade against his neck made him stiffen, and he forced himself to hold back.

As a result, many of his base began to crumble under the pressure.

The flood was too strong, far too strong, and water began leaking into the base itself.

It seeped through cracks, crept under doors, and climbed walls until entire houses were slowly being swallowed.

The cold, clammy touch of the water sent chills down people’s spines, but the true horror was not the drowning.

It was the poison.

The water was infected... tainted with the zombie virus, and as long as it entered the body through ears, mouth, or nose, the result was inevitable.

Transformation. A horrifying, irreversible transformation. Panic erupted.

Even Ian had never imagined things could spiral this far out of control.

Meanwhile, Ivy stood unmoved.

As she watched the flood, her expression did not show fear; instead, there was a strange calmness in her eyes, as though she had already accepted that things could always become worse.

’If things can go wrong... they will go even further in that direction...’ she thought quietly, her gaze fixed on the endless rain. ’And now... this flood ...’

Even if she herself could endure, half of humanity might still be wiped out.

The real problem, however, was the voice.

It echoed in her mind, again and again, persistent and unyielding.

’Humanity must not be wiped out... Preserve as many as you can ...’

She didn’t know where it came from or why it was so insistent, but its determination seeped into her bones.

Without hesitation, Ivy began acting on it.

She sent out her people, ordering them to ensure the safety and well-being of others.

At the same time, she distributed what she called water bubbles, condensed fragments of her own power.

As long as someone touched one, they would gain immunity from the zombie virus, from the unstable temperature outside, and even from the unnatural rain.

And yet, the rain itself was unsettling.

It carried no cold, no warmth, only a strange, sticky sensation that clung to the skin like something alive.

Ivy frowned slightly, her brows knitting together as unease crept into her chest.

What worried her even more, however, was something far worse.

"The zombies..." she muttered under her breath.

’If they mutate now... my antidote might become useless...’

That was a possibility Ivy absolutely could not allow.

Immediately, she ordered her people to bring in both zombies and survivors.

Groups were sent out into the chaos, dragging back the infected and the living alike.

Some zombies stumbled straight to the edges of Ivy’s protective barrier, drawn unknowingly toward safety, and as soon as they arrived, people waiting nearby acted swiftly.

Using telekinesis and other abilities, they pulled the zombies inside, restraining them before they could cause harm.

The captured zombies were then placed in secured containment areas, or prisons.

Ivy did not hesitate; she personally ensured they were given the antidote, refusing to act stingy even toward them.

’If they mutate... everything will collapse...’ she thought grimly.

While she focused on survival, someone else was watching her closely.

Jade.

For the past few months, he had noticed her movements... how she constantly went back and forth, how she never seemed to rest.

He didn’t approach her directly, maintaining a certain distance, but his eyes never left her.

’She’s pushing herself too much...’ he thought, unease tightening his chest.

At the same time, something far more dangerous had taken root inside him.

Obsession.

If he could not see her, if she slipped out of his line of sight, even for a moment, a restless anxiety would consume him, clawing at his thoughts until he found her again.

These days, his father had grown distant.

He often returned late, and whenever he did, he looked at Jade with a sour, almost bitter expression.

The rift between father and son had deepened ever since they chose completely different paths.

Jade noticed it. He simply didn’t care.

’They don’t matter... not compared to her ...’

To him, Ivy had already become far more important than his own parents.

So, he remained silent.

Meanwhile, General Frank’s patience was wearing thin.

In the past, he used to mock General Dante, laughing at how Silas behaved like a love-struck fool.

"Look at your son," he would sneer, "what kind of useless boy have you raised?"

And now...

Now his own son was no different.

’This... this is karma...’ he thought bitterly.

Then his thoughts shifted... to the flood.

A dangerous glint appeared in his eyes. ’This is the perfect opportunity ...’

While Jade remained focused on Ivy, General Frank quietly moved in the shadows.

He reached out, forming alliances. His goal was clear... to strike Ivy and seize control of the entire base.

Yet what angered him the most was Jade’s indifference.

His own son didn’t even ask where he had been. Didn’t question him. Didn’t care.

The disappointment weighed heavily on him as he glanced at Jade, then at his wife, his voice laced with irritation.

"At least you should have given me another son," he muttered coldly. "This one turned out to be nothing but a disappointment."

Jade only chuckled softly, the sound faint and almost detached.

Though he had been slightly sick lately, the moment he stayed near Ivy, his illness seemed to fade away, as if her mere presence healed him.

That only deepened his belief.

’She really is... my soulmate ...’

"I was never a disappointment; it’s your grand ambitions, Father." Jade rolled his eyes.

"You dare talk back? Did you forget? The woman you are fighting for has already been married! Frank’s face turned red from anger.
