Young Master Vance Has An Enchanting Wife!-Chapter 299: Fierce Wife in Hand, Future Uncertain
Jacob Jennings sat up, but his finger was suddenly grabbed by May Morgan and forcefully twisted aside.
May Morgan hadn’t really fallen asleep, so when she felt someone touch her face, she instinctively grabbed that hand and twisted it.
"Ah, broken, broken!" May Morgan’s strength was immense, and even Victor Grant couldn’t bear the pain and cried out.
May Morgan glared fiercely at Victor, asking sharply, "Didn’t you say you wouldn’t cross the line, Mom?"
"Let go first, it’s really going to break!" Victor’s hand was being twisted by May, and he was sweating from the pain.
This woman’s power could hardly be described as terrifying—it was innate Divine Power.
"Son, what happened? What broke?"
Just as the two were entangled with each other, Heather Holt’s anxious voice suddenly came from outside the door.
"I said, Victor, can’t you be gentler? May’s just recovering physically; why are you so heavy-handed, you bastard!" Heather couldn’t open the door or see what’s going on inside, so she assumed Victor was bullying May and yelled at him.
May’s face turned green; what did she mean by being gentler? What does that have to do with her physical condition? Is she thinking Victor broke something?
"Auntie, it’s okay, Victor accidentally slipped a while ago, but he’s fine now." With Heather around, May didn’t want to make things difficult for Victor, so she let go of his wrist.
Victor rubbed his nearly twisted-off wrist with an expression of frustration, staring at May like he was looking at a monster for a solid minute.
"What are you looking at? If you think I’m too scary, we can break up!" May thought of the hurtful words Vincent Vance had said to her and felt a pinch in her heart, decisively saying to Victor.
Victor was frightened by her words and quickly explained to May, "No, no, I don’t think that way about you, I really don’t, don’t overthink it."
Victor scratched his head, realizing tonight’s plans were likely ruined, so he resignedly took the pillow and blanket to sleep on the sofa.
"Alright, I’ll sleep on the sofa tonight, and once my mom leaves tomorrow, I’ll move out."
Seeing Victor return to the sofa with his blanket, May felt a twinge of sadness. This man had been very good to her; it was her own issues, her inability to appreciate him, and her somewhat dramatic behavior.
Thinking it over, May got out of bed and took Victor’s pillow and blanket back to the bed.
Victor was stunned; was he seeing things?
"You... you’re letting me come back to bed?" Victor thought he was seeing things; how did she change her mind? Hadn’t she just wanted to break his wrist?
May sternly glared at him again, "I don’t want to feel like I’m usurping you, but don’t get any wrong ideas, or I’ll really break your leg."
"Alright, alright, I’ll behave myself this time, I promise not even a hair will touch you, okay?" Victor eagerly climbed into bed and wrapped himself in the blanket, grinning foolishly at May.
May rolled her eyes at him silently, turned around and snuggled with the blanket, lying down without saying another word.
That night, she indeed slept soundly.
Yet, at the moment of sleep, a terrifying image came to her mind; she dreamt of vast crimson scenes—blood, so much blood, encircling her, it was horrifying to behold.
She remembered that after the last time she had such a dream, her grandmother died tragically, and now she suddenly had a similar dream again, wondering who would be in trouble this time?
Could it be Vincent Vance? But she didn’t care about him anymore, so even if he died, what did it have to do with her?
Thinking about it made May’s heart ache again, forcing herself to close her eyes.
It was all over; she had said before that from then on, they would leave each other alone, pretending not to know each other.
To impress Vincent, the day before Vincent and Brianna White’s wedding, Victor announced his successful proposal to May online, making it known to the whole country that Victor Grant was getting married.
The Grant Family really put effort and money into publishing this news, so even if Vincent didn’t want to hear it, the news of May and Victor’s marriage quickly reached his ears.
Jacob Jennings saw this news early in the morning and felt anxious because he knew how deeply and intensely Vincent loved May. Yet now, the two had come to be enemies upon seeing each other—how lamentable.
"Master, did you see the news released by the Grant Family today?" Jacob knocked on Vincent’s office door with his laptop and asked softly.
Vincent had just closed the page about Victor’s wedding, so of course he knew, but he sighed helplessly and looked at Jacob, "I saw it, but what difference does it make?"
Jacob’s eyes darkened slightly as he resentfully suggested, "Since the plan is ready, and all the fish will bite tomorrow, why not secretly find Miss tomorrow, explain your concerns to her. Miss is an emotional person, and values relationships; if you explain, she’ll listen."
Vincent thought for a while and ultimately decided not to take the risk: "No, tomorrow is the most crucial day; I can’t go looking for May now. I know her character too well; if she knew about my plan, she wouldn’t just stand by."
Vincent wasn’t worried about the plan being exposed, but he was concerned that May might come on the wedding day out of concern for his safety. Tomorrow’s battle was bound to be unpredictable; he might even lose his life, and he couldn’t let May be at risk.
So the best way was to leave May in the dark, letting her safely stay with Victor.
As for him, if he was fortunate to survive tomorrow, he would go find her, explain his concerns, and do whatever he can to win his woman back.
"Darling, may I come in?" Brianna White suddenly knocked on the door from outside.
Jacob and Vincent exchanged glances, quickly closing the laptop and going to open the door for Brianna, "Madam, you’re here?"
Clearly, Brianna was quite pleased with Jacob’s title for her; even though she hadn’t officially married Vincent yet, the title "Madam" already showed her status in Vincent’s heart.
"Jacob, I have some private matters to discuss with Vincent, could you step out for a moment?"
Jacob laughed lightly, turned, and left with his laptop. Once he was gone, Brianna shamelessly sat on Vincent’s lap.
Vincent frowned with distaste, but didn’t push her away.
