Chapter 155: Chapter 155: I Hope I Didn’t Cause You Any Trouble

The moment Sandra opened her mouth, Faye Jennings had quietly taken two steps back. With such a useful hired gun on hand, it saved her the trouble. All she had to do was stand by and watch the drama unfold. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖

It was a pity the confrontation was over in just a few rounds.

’Who would have thought? Clara Grant usually seems so gentle and kind, but she’s surprisingly clear-headed and sharp-tongued when it counts.’

Faye Jennings felt a flash of annoyance at how useless Sandra had been.

Still, all this commotion was more than enough. Everyone saw what they needed to see, and the reporters got their photos. Even if pressure from Seth Quinn kept people from talking about it openly and stopped the reporters from publishing the pictures, it didn’t matter.

All that mattered was that everyone would now believe Clara Grant was a woman who looked pure on the outside but was actually lewd and shameless.

Besides, enough time had passed for even Holly Summers—someone Clara Grant had just met—to jump to her defense, yet Seth Quinn hadn’t made a single move. It was clear he had no intention of helping her this time.

This gave Faye Jennings a surge of confidence. She smiled, took a step forward to stand between Clara Grant and Sandra, and spoke to Sandra. "Sandra, that’s enough. You should rein in your curiosity. Look, you’ve scared poor Clara, you little curiosity cat."

"Everything happened so suddenly. For a young woman, especially with such... embarrassing items involved, it’s completely normal that she was too stunned to react."

"Besides, what a person carries is their own business; no one has the right to interfere. People who know you understand you’re just overly curious and tend to speak your mind, but anyone else might think you’re deliberately trying to meddle in her private affairs."

"Of course, I believe Clara, personally."

Though her words seemed designed to diffuse the situation, they were actually steering everyone toward the conclusion that the items did, in fact, belong to Clara Grant.

Clara Grant looked at Faye Jennings, her expression hardening. "Faye, this isn’t about personal freedom. These things simply aren’t mine."

"Alright, alright, they’re not yours," Faye Jennings said, grinding her teeth inwardly while keeping a smile plastered on her face. "Even if you have no evidence to prove your innocence, I believe you. And I’m sure everyone else does, too."

"It’s getting late. Everyone, let’s disperse and get ready for the banquet. We’re honored to have President Quinn joining us today, and we shouldn’t keep him waiting. Clara, you should hurry and pack everything up. Put your things back in your room and come join us."

Clara Grant instinctively looked toward Seth Quinn. He had a faint, unreadable smile on his face, but he didn’t contradict or question anything Faye Jennings had said.

A sense of despair washed over Clara Grant. When his eyes flickered toward her, she stubbornly averted her gaze.

Seth Quinn sighed to himself. ’This woman... would she really rather endure this humiliation than ask me for help?’

’Even one pathetic little look would do!’

Seeing that Seth Quinn didn’t object to what Faye Jennings said, the crowd started to turn back toward the hotel. Just then, a woman burst frantically through the throng, running straight for Clara Grant.

"Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry! I grabbed the wrong suitcase! Miss, this one is mine, which means that one must be yours."

As she spoke, the woman pushed the suitcase she was pulling toward Clara Grant, then immediately knelt to start packing the clothes and adult toys scattered all over the ground.

While she gathered the items, she kept apologizing to Clara Grant. "Miss, I’m so, so sorry. Our suitcases look identical, so I must have grabbed yours by mistake. All this stuff... I hope it didn’t cause you too much trouble?"
