Young Master Vance Has An Enchanting Wife!-Chapter 264: Retribution Never Fails
"Today, spend the day with me. Let’s reminisce about the bits and pieces of our past together. After today, I’ll give you back to Maxwell, and you can live happily with her, okay?" May Morgan gazed earnestly at Adam Owens as she spoke.
Adam Owens looked at May Morgan’s face for a long while, and finally, with a sense of helplessness, nodded: "Alright, I promise you."
The reality is just as it is, and he knows it well. If it weren’t for Maxwell and the child in her belly, perhaps he and May Morgan could return to the past. But now, let today be the most beautiful ending in their lives.
After finishing the milk tea, May Morgan suggested that Adam Owens drive her to an amusement park, where they rode the roller coaster and visited the haunted house. They also made a special trip to Grand Plaza. When they stood in the labyrinthine fountain, May Morgan, upon seeing the familiar scene, suddenly squatted down and began to cry.
She remembered that Vincent Vance had taken her there once. That time, Vincent was so angry because he couldn’t find her, he even deliberately had the park staff stop the labyrinth fountain. When he turned around, she was right behind him, separated by a wall of water, yet invisible to each other.
May Morgan thought that perhaps that unintentional act had already foreshadowed the future of their relationship, as they were destined never to have a good ending.
Seeing May Morgan squatting on the ground and crying, Adam Owens hurried over, pausing as he placed a hand on her shoulder, gently consoling her.
"Don’t cry, we were having a good time. Why are you crying?" Adam Owens said to May Morgan with some heartache.
May Morgan looked up at Adam Owens, smiled at him, and said, "It’s nothing, I’m just tired."
"If you’re tired, shall I take you back?" Although reluctant, Adam Owens didn’t want May Morgan to be too tired, so he reluctantly offered to take her back.
"Okay." May Morgan looked up at Adam Owens, intentionally giving him a heartfelt smile, "You’re still the best to me."
Adam Owens’ throat choked, and though some words rolled in his throat, he didn’t know how to say them.
The two of them stood up from the slippery ground. Afraid that May Morgan might fall, Adam Owens quickly reached for May Morgan’s arm, supporting her as they walked out of the labyrinthine fountain.
Just as May Morgan and Adam Owens stepped out of the fountain, before they had a chance to get into the car, a woman’s figure suddenly darted in front of them and slapped May hard across the face.
The slap caught both May Morgan and Adam Owens off guard. May Morgan clutched her slapped face, dumbstruck as she looked at the woman who had suddenly appeared before her.
"Maxwell? Why are you here?" Adam Owens was about to get angry when he caught sight of the face of the visitor and froze.
With red-rimmed eyes, Maxwell pointed at May Morgan’s face and accused Adam Owens: "Adam, you lied to me saying you had something to do, so you spent the whole day with this bitch?"
As she spoke, she attempted to pounce on May Morgan again. May Morgan had intentionally taken that first slap to evoke Adam Owens’ sympathy, but she wasn’t about to simply take another one.
Seeing Maxwell about to hit May Morgan again, Adam Owens promptly grabbed her hand and loudly scolded her: "Maxwell, what are you doing?"
"What am I doing? What do you think I’m doing? Of course, I’m catching you in the act!" Maxwell struggled in Adam’s grasp while crying, saying: "Do you have any shame? You’re already married to me, so why are you still with her? And to top it off, you’re posting on social media to provoke me? You knew your friends disapprove of me, yet you still did this. You did it on purpose, didn’t you?"
The photos were taken with Adam’s phone at May Morgan’s request, and when posting them, May had also gotten Adam’s approval, so she couldn’t really be blamed. It was Adam who hadn’t thought things through.
Truthfully, Adam and May had been together for so long that whenever they took a photo together, it naturally ended up on their social media—it had become a habit, like eating and sleeping. And when Adam was with May, he truly got caught up in the emotional swirl of their years together, as if he’d forgotten he was a married man, with a wife.
Realizing his mistake, Adam’s guilt prompted him to release his grip: "I’m sorry, Maxwell. I’ll delete all those photos once I get back."
But the photos had been up for so long, and everyone had seen them. What was the point of deleting them now?
Moreover, not only had Adam’s friends seen those photos, but Vincent Vance had also seen them.
He just hadn’t yet found the opportunity to confront Adam about it.
"You think everything will be fine once you delete them? You spent the entire day with this vixen, and what does that make me?" Maxwell, insane with rage, charged at May Morgan, suddenly grabbed her hair, and started pulling.
May Morgan’s body had recovered, and dodging Maxwell would have been a breeze, but she couldn’t dodge now; she needed to play the part of a weak, pitiful woman.
"Maxwell, what are you doing?"
Seeing May Morgan at a disadvantage, Adam Owens quickly grasped Maxwell’s wrist, using great strength to throw her backwards.
The three were entangled at the edge of the labyrinth fountain, where the ground was covered with slippery water. Maxwell staggered after being thrown by Adam and suddenly fell to the ground.
Then, as if that weren’t enough, as Maxwell fell, her waist struck a hard brick, and she let out a shrill scream, her face turning deathly pale. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
Upon hearing Maxwell’s scream, Adam Owens hurriedly turned to look, only to see Maxwell clutching her belly in agony, blood flowing beneath her skirt.
Maxwell was just over two months pregnant, and this was the most dangerous stage for a pregnant woman. The slightest mishap could result in a miscarriage. Upon seeing the blood, Adam Owens was terrified, frozen to the spot, not knowing what to do.
May Morgan looked coldly at Maxwell, who lay on the ground clutching her stomach and moaning. At that moment, her heart was a swirl of mixed feelings.
Her child had been lost in the same way, and the scene of holding her stomach and moaning back then was so similar to Maxwell now.
She knew that if she waited just a moment longer, Maxwell’s child would be lost, but seeing so much blood flow out, why did she feel a twinge of reluctance?
"Adam, hurry, save her!" As if waking up from a terrible nightmare, May Morgan suddenly came to her senses, urgently shouting at the dumbfounded Adam.
Maxwell might be guilty, but the child was innocent. She shouldn’t use an adult’s sins as a punishment for the child.
So, they needed to try to save the child first.
Pushed by May Morgan, Adam Owens finally snapped out of it, rushing to Maxwell’s side, picking her up from the ground.
May Morgan didn’t go to the hospital with Adam because she knew that with her sister having an accident, there was no way Vincent wouldn’t show up, and if she went, she’d definitely run into Vincent at the hospital.
She didn’t want to see him now, at least not at the moment.
