Young Master Vance Has An Enchanting Wife!-Chapter 263: Let’s Put an End to This
After wiping off the dust on top, May Morgan opened the large box and took out all the clothes inside, looking at each one. Her gaze finally settled on a light blue floral dress.
This light blue floral dress was bought for her by Adam Owens. She remembered when they went for a spring outing, Adam had bought her this dress in advance. She took many photos in the golden rapeseed fields, each one with such a bright smile.
Picking up the light blue floral dress, May went upstairs to the second floor to put it on and even styled her hair in a forest fairy fashion. Looking at herself in the mirror, looking just as she did back then, a complex smile appeared on May’s lips.
The face, it’s still the same, and her figure hasn’t changed at all. If she hadn’t met Vincent Vance, hadn’t married him, maybe she would still be just a sophomore student, leading a carefree college life. Perhaps, she might now be leaning on Adam’s side, wearing the sweetest smile.
But now, it’s impossible to have that innocent, guileless smile on her face anymore. This smile is destined to be cold and unfeeling.
In truth, she’s not someone who necessarily seeks revenge, but everyone has their breaking point. When Maxwell Vance destroyed her child and made her suffer in countless ways during her postpartum confinement, almost costing her life, she should have realized that this grudge, she, May, had to settle.
No one can continue to live at ease after hurting others, at least, not where May is concerned.
Arriving a little early on purpose at the meeting place, May wanted to make Adam feel guilty toward her. Sure enough, seeing May already sitting in the tea shop’s chair, holding a cup of milk tea silently, the guilt on his face was more than obvious.
"Sorry, I was delayed by something. Have you been waiting long?" Adam said apologetically as he sat down.
May looked up at Adam, smiled faintly, and slowly replied, "It’s okay, I like waiting for you like this; it feels full of anticipation."
A single remark directly pulled Adam’s thoughts back to the memories of the past few years, recalling every happy moment they had in the tea shop with milk tea, causing Adam to let out a long sigh.
If time could go back, wouldn’t that be great? If only he hadn’t gotten too drunk that day and hadn’t tried to take advantage of May, perhaps everything wouldn’t be as it is now.
Who is to blame? Fate?
"Adam, you haven’t ordered your milk tea yet. Let me order a cup for you."
Seeing Adam lost in thought, May purposely turned to the server and called out, "One original milk tea, please."
May remembers Adam only drinks original milk tea, while she likes to try every flavor. She’s a typical foodie, never hesitating when it comes to delicious food.
Seeing this, Adam couldn’t help but smile with comfort, "It’s rare that you still remember I drink original milk tea."
May looked up seriously at Adam and said, "I remember all your preferences, know all the sizes of your clothes, and even know what songs you like to listen to."
Speaking of this, May suddenly let out a bitter laugh and said with some emotion, "Maybe it’s because I spent so much time with you that many things have sunk into my bones, making them hard to forget."
"Have you remembered Vincent’s preferences while being with him?" The light in Adam’s eyes shifted, and he couldn’t help but ask.
"I’ve only been with him for a few months, how could I remember his likes and interests? Besides, we rarely communicate."
"In fact, my marriage to him was just a transaction. He doesn’t have much affection for me; marrying me was just for that Jade Pendant, for the title that could grant him power over the Vance Family. Otherwise, why didn’t he say a word when Maxwell killed my child?"
May sighed slightly as she tightened her grip on the milk tea cup in some frustration, catching Adam’s eyes with a flash of heartache.
"I know it was wrong of Maxwell to drug you. I even thought about divorcing her then." Adam, seeing May particularly distressed, couldn’t help but speak.
May didn’t come to hear Adam say these things. It’s true that he hit her, and wanting a divorce was understandable, but in the end, he didn’t divorce, and that woman didn’t go away, right?
"I know your intentions, but this has nothing to do with you. You shouldn’t treat Maxwell like that. The Vance Family’s influence is greater than the Owens Family’s, and if things get too tense, it might affect your future career. There’s no need," May said with a bitter smile, helplessly advising Adam, "Besides, how could Vincent, who cares so much for his sister, allow you to treat Maxwell that way?"
"Actually, I don’t like Maxwell at all. If it weren’t for that child, I wouldn’t have even married her." Adam, recalling this suppressive marriage, couldn’t help but complain.
May glanced at Adam, her eyes shifting as she turned to him and said, "You probably don’t know, do you? Actually, when we were at the Vance Family, that cup of coffee was sent to Maxwell by Jacob Jennings."
"What? What?" Adam was so startled that he stood up immediately, causing many people around to look over.
May waved to him with a smile, calmly explaining, "It was Jacob who told me in person. Of course, as for whether or not Vincent was involved, I don’t know. But at least I trust you; that day you were indeed drugged by someone."
Being trusted by the one he loved, Adam felt comforted. He boldly stretched out his hand and grabbed May’s hand on the table, holding it in his palm.
Seeing that May had no intention of withdrawing it, Adam quickly said to her, "May, the person I truly love has always been you alone."
May smiled faintly but looked down at their hands, muttering, "I know, but Adam, you’re now a father. Even if you don’t like Maxwell, you still have to consider the child."
With this statement, Adam was thrown completely back into reality, not knowing what to say for a long time. Indeed, earlier, he thought May had contacted him because she still had feelings for him, and on the way here, he had even fantasized about starting over with her, but her words completely shattered his fantasies.
Yes, he and Maxwell have a child.
"Sorry, I was presumptuous." Adam withdrew his hand in guilt, immediately lowered his head, and apologized to May.
May smiled, looking at Adam’s disappointed face, and suddenly said, "Adam, today, let’s end things between the two of us."
"End things? How to end things?" Adam’s heart ached, and he couldn’t help but look up and ask.
