Young Master Vance Has An Enchanting Wife!-Chapter 120: Everything Went Smoothly
Vincent Vance glanced sideways at Audrey Vance, deliberately kissed May Morgan’s cheek in front of everyone, and said tenderly: ’Darling, didn’t you want to see what’s wrong with Maxwell Vance? Come, I’ll take you there.’
Seeing Vincent about to take May upstairs, Audrey Vance hurriedly shouted to stop them: ’Vincent, don’t go in, or don’t blame me for being rude.’
Vincent turned to look at Audrey on purpose and asked knowingly, "Aunt, what do you mean by this? Is there something unspeakable inside?"
Thinking of the scene that she had just witnessed when she pushed the door open, Audrey’s face became uncomfortable: ’Anyway, just don’t go in. Let’s not meddle in the affairs of young people.’
Upon hearing this, May didn’t need to think to know what happened between Adam Owens and Maxwell Vance. She felt awkward going up at this time, and couldn’t accept such a scene, so she pulled Vincent’s hand, softly pleading: ’Since Aunt says we shouldn’t go up, let’s not. Let’s go.’
Vincent knew better than to push the act too far; it was enough that May understood what was happening. Forcing her to go up would hurt the poor girl, and he wasn’t that cruel.
"Alright, you say we shouldn’t go, so we won’t. Let’s leave." Vincent smiled indulgently and hugged his little wife as they headed to the door.
As they passed Logan Vance, May suddenly heard Logan softly say to her, "May, be safe on the road."
His tone carried a hint of warning, causing her to glance at him in surprise.
But before she could study Logan’s expression closely, Vincent, full of jealousy, pulled her away from Logan: "Let’s go!"
The two quickly left the villa and walked toward the garage; as they reached the garage entrance, Butler Lawson emerged from inside.
Butler Lawson didn’t expect to see Vincent at the garage entrance, and his expression showed a hint of panic.
"M-mister Vincent, are you, are you leaving now?"
Vincent nodded at him and casually asked, "What are you doing in the garage? Is something wrong?"
Butler Lawson, though a servant of the Vance family, was the butler and typically didn’t handle trivial tasks. If there was anything in the garage, it was usually minor and not his responsibility.
Butler Lawson’s forehead was drenched with sweat, but since it was a bit dark, it wasn’t noticeable unless looked at closely.
"There was a minor issue in the garage. I had someone fix it, and it’s much better now." Butler Lawson dryly responded to Vincent.
May noticed the sweat on his forehead and couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off, so she casually asked: ’Butler Lawson, what’s wrong with you? Why are you sweating so much?’
"No, it’s just stuffy in the garage, and I’ve been feeling unwell lately. I did something just now and ended up sweating a lot." Upon hearing this, Butler Lawson hastily wiped his forehead with his shirt and then bid Vincent farewell, "Well, Mister Vincent, if there’s nothing else, I’ll be off to work."
Vincent glanced at him but said nothing, merely nodding lightly. Seeing this, Butler Lawson quickly turned and walked away, his pace very hurried.
"I always feel Butler Lawson is acting weird." May couldn’t quite pinpoint why, but Butler Lawson seemed suspicious.
Vincent retracted his gaze from the disappearing figure of Butler Lawson, then looked down at May: "What’s wrong?"
May looked up at Vincent, frowned, and asked, "Can’t you see it? He was terrified when he saw us come out of the garage, and during the conversation, he never dared to meet your eyes, clearly guilty of something!"
"Butler Lawson has worked with my grandfather for many years; he’s always been reliable..."
A strange smile played on Vincent’s lips, as he hugged May’s waist and whispered to her: "So, every action he takes is at my grandfather’s behest. Understand?"
Vincent’s hint suddenly enlightened May: "So, your grandfather is not straightforward enough to attack me in the villa and plans to cause an incident halfway?"
Saying this, May suddenly grabbed Vincent’s arm and cautiously asked him: ’Could Butler Lawson have cut our brake line? I’ve seen it done on TV—trying to harm someone by secretly cutting their brake line so that we end up in a car accident on the road and die.’
Vincent looked down at May, feeling exasperated by her sudden ridiculous idea. Cutting the brake line? Wouldn’t that mean he’d also die with May?
Besides, grandfather wasn’t ruthless enough to want his grandson dead too; even if he were insane, he wouldn’t resort to such dangerous methods to deal with them. The reason was simple—if the car crashed and May died, she’d lose all hope of resurrection, and that wasn’t what grandfather wanted.
He’s now terminally ill, needing a life-saving cure, and only May being alive gives him hope.
"You’ve thought it through, let’s go check the car later. If there’s a problem, we’ll have it replaced."
Not wanting to dampen May’s imaginative flair, Vincent pampered his woman by going with her to the garage to personally test whether the brake line was faulty.
"All clear, it seems you were overly worried!" Vincent laughed, opened the passenger door, and indicated for May to get in.
May felt it was unlikely and looked at Vincent’s car with some fear, saying: ’Maybe we should switch cars? I still feel uneasy about this one.’
Vincent gripped the steering wheel, deeply gazing forward but drove out of the garage without hesitation, leaving the Vance Residence.
"There is an issue, but it might not be as straightforward as you think."
After driving out from the Shepherd Residence, Vincent gave Jacob Jennings a call: "Jacob, where are you? Is Melanie Morgan handled?"
Jacob responded quickly: ’Already brought that woman back to the villa; I have someone watching her.’
"Good, drive over here so we can swap cars; there might be something tampered with on this vehicle."
Vincent deliberately drove slowly, gradually heading back while waiting for Jacob’s car to arrive for the switch.
Jacob’s speed was swift, and within a dozen minutes, he arrived for the rendezvous with Vincent. When Vincent and May got out of the car, he explained to Jacob: "We saw Butler Lawson hastily leaving the garage as we left; I suspect he installed a tracking device on my car. Please have a reliable repair shop check it; don’t inform anyone else."
