Young Master Vance Has An Enchanting Wife!-Chapter 112: There Must Be Something in This Soup
Taking advantage of the brief moment when May Morgan was behaving, Vincent Vance quickly discussed with her again.
May looked up at Vincent, a little stubbornly snorted: "I’m not leaving, Melanie killed my grandma, I have to personally make her pay for it."
Vincent was slightly annoyed by May’s stubbornness and couldn’t help but lowly scold her: "Why do you have to be so stubborn? Didn’t I promise you already? I will give you an explanation regarding your sister."
Recalling what Logan Vance had told her, May turned her face away and muttered in a small voice, somewhat resentfully: "If you really cared, you wouldn’t have taken so long."
Vincent’s expression paused, and his tone gradually grew cold: "What do you mean? Are you saying I’ve been deceiving you all along?"
As he said this, the anger in his heart became difficult to suppress, and even the fingers that were originally helping May wash her hair couldn’t help but grip tightly due to his agitation.
May, feeling pain from his grip, quickly struggled to get up: "What are you doing? You’re hurting me!"
Only when he heard May shout did Vincent come to his senses. He quickly released May’s hair and then stood up from the chair, apologizing: "Sorry, I lost my composure."
As he got up, Vincent couldn’t help but glance down at May in the bathtub, trying his best to suppress his anger, and ordered her in a low voice: "After you finish washing, I’ll arrange for Jacob Jennings to take you out."
After saying that, he didn’t give May a chance to retort and turned to leave the bathroom. Butler Lawson happened to send someone over with ginger syrup, and upon seeing Vincent come out, he asked: "Young master, would you like something to drink?"
Without thinking, Vincent replied casually: "Coffee, please."
"Alright." Responding, Butler Lawson put the ginger syrup on the table and then turned to make coffee for Vincent.
After leaving the bathroom, Vincent, feeling quite agitated because of May, picked up his phone and called Jacob Jennings.
"Are you here yet?" Vincent asked Jacob, his tone extremely unfriendly.
Jacob was already at Vance Residence and heading to Vincent’s bedroom. Noticing his unfriendly tone, he quickly said: "I’m here, I’m here, just arrived."
As he spoke, he reached Vincent’s bedroom. When he knocked and entered, he happened to see Vincent staring blankly at the bathroom door.
Although he didn’t know what had happened, Jacob guessed from Vincent’s expression that he must be angry, and the only person in the world who could anger him to this extent was none other than the young lady.
"Young master, are you upset with the young lady again?" Jacob carefully approached Vincent and asked in a low voice.
Vincent withdrew his gaze from the bathroom and looked at Jacob but didn’t speak. Instead, he pointed to the bowl of ginger syrup on the table and said: "Drink this."
Jacob glanced at Vincent’s expression, then at the bowl of ginger syrup on the table, and asked puzzledly: "Why... do you want me to drink this?"
Vincent stared darkly at the contents of the bowl and lowly said to Jacob: "The old man is always cautious, I’m afraid what’s in this bowl isn’t clean."
Jacob was speechless as he looked at Vincent, swallowed hard, and thought silently, if it’s not clean, why are you making me drink it? You care about your wife so much, why don’t you drink it yourself?
"Young master, if you’re suspicious of what’s in this bowl, why not just throw it away?" Jacob, no fool, thought—Vincent expects him to drink just because he told him to? What if it really is poisoned and he dies from drinking it?
Vincent looked up at him, seeing his reluctance, and smiled: "Don’t worry, there’s no way they’d use poison; the old man wouldn’t dare to poison May."
"That’s... true... but this..." Although Vincent’s analysis made sense, Jacob was still somewhat unwilling to actually drink it.
"Don’t forget, this is the old man’s territory. Where can we dispose of it? Dump it anywhere, and it will be discovered, not even the washroom is safe, so the best way is to drink it. Besides, I suspect the old man is using this bowl of tonic to test May."
Just then, Butler Lawson came over with the coffee for Vincent. As he placed the coffee in front of Vincent, he also deliberately glanced at the still untouched bowl of ginger syrup on the table.
"Young master, the young lady hasn’t come out yet? If the ginger syrup isn’t consumed soon, its effectiveness will diminish once it cools down," Butler Lawson asked nonchalantly.
Exchanging a glance with Jacob, Vincent then slowly said to him, "It’s okay, later I will deliver it to the bathroom for her to drink."
"Alright, then I’ll head downstairs. If you need anything, just call me," Butler Lawson said, then bowed his head and left the room.
Once Butler Lawson left, Jacob quickly whispered to Vincent: "It seems that there really is something off with what’s in this bowl." 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
Vincent ran his finger lightly around the rim of the ginger syrup bowl, and then, with a sigh, said: "Ever since Logan tricked May into finding Melanie, I felt something was wrong. How could he be so kind-hearted? The contents of this bowl, I suspect, might be a potion to test if May is pregnant. After you drink it, we’ll observe Butler Lawson’s reaction."
Jacob, not really being fussy, upon hearing Vincent’s reasoning, picked up the bowl and drank it all.
Watching Jacob as he drank the potion, a complex look flickered in Vincent’s eyes: "Thank you for your trouble."
Jacob gave a faint smile and sincerely said: "Young master, it’s just drinking something; it’s no big deal. Don’t mention drinking, even if it cost me my life, as long as it’s for you, I’d accept it."
Hearing this, Vincent sighed and said to Jacob, "There’s no need for such loyalty, really. I only saved your life ten years ago, a simple act."
"Even though it was just a minor act, you did save my life, young master. I said at that time, from then on, you are everything to me, and I’ll be loyal to you forever, without any divided loyalty."
Vincent glanced at the closed bathroom door, suddenly feeling a bit sentimental, and said to Jacob, "If you could apply the same loyalty you have for me to May, I would be very pleased."
Jacob, knowing Vincent was somewhat resentful of the past when he advised him to give up on May, sheepishly explained: "Young master, it was my fault; I shouldn’t have said those things, nor advised you to give up on Miss May, but when I saw how many of our subordinates had fallen, each with such a tragic end, I found it particularly hard to bear..."
