Wizard: Starting from the Skill Tree-Chapter 572: Cloud Whale
Duke had heard about these things; he also knew that in the interdimensional wars of many wizard organizations, foreign wizards suffered the highest casualty rates.
Of course, he would not choose this path. As a Level 1 honorary medal recipient from Black Sail, it would be unreasonable to go to another wizard organization as a foreign wizard.
Duke’s goal was merely to gain real combat experience while grinding his magic skill proficiency, without the need to take risks.
Participating in other wizard organizations’ interdimensional wars involves too much uncertainty, making it easy for many problems to arise and not very prudent. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
Duke had another option, which was to use the witch array to simulate battlefields.
The witch array simulated battlefield is a new thing that has emerged in the past few years. It allows wizards to fight various enemies in any simulated battlefield without actually getting hurt.
However, this technology is not yet mature and has not been widely promoted. Currently, only the Seville Empire on the East Coast has it.
The last time Duke went to the East Coast, he did not stay long and had to cut his trip short because of a riot caused by followers of the Evil God.
Now that he was staying at Black Sail without much to do, he decided to visit the East Coast.
This time, Duke’s first objective on the East Coast was to acquire a few high-tier Breathing Techniques. This was not for himself but for future preparation.
For instance, in a place like the Oracle Plane, high-tier Breathing Techniques are likely to play a significant role and can serve as a resource reserve for the future.
Additionally, Duke wanted to visit the Divine Hall of Light.
He had obtained the Divine Status of the God of Light from the Oracle Plane and wondered if anything else would happen when he visited the Divine Hall of Light on the Wizard Plane.
Duke knew very well that the God of Light is an embodiment of plane will, whether on the Wizard Plane or the Oracle Plane.
However, he definitely trusted the God of Light on the Wizard Plane more and remained somewhat wary of the God of Light on the Oracle Plane.
This time, visiting the Divine Hall of Light, if there is any issue with the God of Light’s Divine Status, he might be able to resolve it during this opportunity.
Finally, he was to experience the witch array simulated battlefield to take the opportunity to grind the six newly mastered spells to the full level.
Having decided on his plans, Duke prepared briefly and was ready to set out.
When he informed Yala and Nina of his decision to go to the East Coast, despite being mentally prepared, the two women still showed undisguisable reluctance and concern in their eyes.
Both Nina and Yala wanted to go with Duke, but he refused.
Taking the two women would be somewhat inconvenient; it’s better to travel light and alone.
This way, he could handle any unexpected situations flexibly.
Given the strength of Yala and Nina, they would indeed be a bit of a drag; staying within Black Sail would be the safest.
The interior of Black Sail was not so tedious or boring; there were still plenty of entertainment islands inside.
Duke had also told the two women that if they wanted to learn an instrument, dance, or anything else, they could do so directly, as there were dedicated services for such training within Black Sail.
...
Duke opted not to ride a Storm Dragon Eagle, which, although free, could attract attention and present certain risks. For long-distance travel, especially when crossing continents and potentially passing through unknown-danger airspace, wizard-operated scheduled long-range floating airships are undoubtedly the safer, more prudent choice.
To cross from the West Coast to the East Coast involves traversing a long stretch of territory.
These areas harbor many powerful demons, with Level 2, Level 3, and even Level 4 demons possibly present.
If you dared to ride a Storm Dragon Eagle directly over their heads, you might anger them, thus inviting trouble.
While this is a low-probability event, there is no need to risk it.
Floating airships are the most prudent, as powerful demons have a certain intelligence and know that this is a wizard’s floating airship, and they mustn’t attack it; these are lessons learned from countless bloody experiences.
After leaving Black Sail, Duke went to the floating airship port in Harbor City. Having already purchased his ticket, he now only needed to wait in this expansive venue.
The floating airship port in Harbor City was always bustling and busy, with the salty, damp sea breeze mingling with the faint ozone scent peculiar to magical crystal engines, blowing through the waiting crowd.
Duke stood in the designated berthing waiting area, his gaze directed at the distant horizon.
It did not keep him waiting long; the clouds afar seemed to be stirred by an invisible hand, first emanating a low but rhythmically rich hum, initially faint, then becoming clearly audible, like a giant beast breathing deeply within the clouds.
The crowd at the port began to stir, with many standing on tiptoe, pointing towards the direction of the sound.
Soon after, an elegant and enormous shadow pierced through the heavy clouds.
The first to come into view was the long, streamlined hull, fully coated with a matte deep-blue finish treated with Mithril, effectively resisting high-altitude winds and certain energy erosions while refracting an understated sheen under the sunlight.
On either side of the hull were large, intricate side wings constructed from metal frames and skins. They were not meant for flapping but to stabilize the hull and adjust direction when necessary.
Behind the side wings were symmetrical rows of powerful magical propulsion nozzle arrays, currently emitting pale blue exhaust flames that slightly distorted the air, producing a sustained and stable roar.
The most eye-catching feature was the gigantic spindle-shaped gasbag suspended above the hull, breath-taking in its grandeur.
The gasbag was imbued with some fluid mechanics elegance, with its surface covered in countless fine, scale-like rune plates, which subtly undulated on the surface as if breathing, continuously extracting free energy from the atmosphere, partially powering the main engines and hover systems.
Sunlight glided over the rune plates, leaving fleeting milky-white halos, indicating that the protective and stabilizing witch array was operating.
This was yet another floating airship with a somewhat different design, distinct from the commonly seen models before.
This was the Cloud Whale, a scheduled long-range floating airship operated by the Seventh Spiral Commerce Association on the East Coast.
Its gentle descent from the cloud cover carried an inherent, reassuring majesty, akin to an elegant giant whale cruising the skies.
As its altitude gradually decreased, the shadow it cast enveloped the entire berthing area, with the massive wind pressure becoming evident, making the flags on the port flutter and also sending Duke’s forelocks waving.
The deflectors beneath the airship subtly adjusted their angles to precisely counteract the crosswinds.
The roaring sound grew increasingly deafening, yet the noise reduction witch array at the port ensured it did not reach intolerable levels for those present.
