Chapter 426: Chapter 426: Reinforcements

Ella’s hands trembled as she carefully fed the Sun Resilience Potion into Leonard’s mouth.

The potion took effect quickly, and Leonard’s once pale face gained a barely discernible hint of color. The horrifying wound on his chest seemed to ooze less of the black blood.

But he remained in a deep coma, his breath as thin as a thread. Clearly, his life was only temporarily sustained, and he was far from being out of danger.

Duke and Vivian were vigilantly observing their surroundings, though the previous space had disappeared and the Erosion Body was annihilated, there was no guarantee that other dangers did not lurk.

Around them, the slave creatures continued to dutifully carry out their patrol orders, oblivious to the harrowing events that had just taken place.

However, four Level 2 slave creatures had already arrived nearby, maintaining a high level of alertness.

Duke and the others didn’t wait long before a low and powerful rumble came from the distant night sky, rapidly approaching.

The three of them looked up to see three elongated, sleek Floating Airships breaking through the clouds, like giant sharks in the night, speeding towards Black Oak Town.

They had clearly activated some kind of stealth mode, only being detected as they drew closer.

The airships were extremely fast, and in an instant, they were hovering over Black Oak Town.

Strong air currents spewed from the bottom of the ships, sending dust and ash swirling in the square, prompting Ella to instinctively protect Leonard.

The leading airship slowly lowered its height, eventually hovering about ten meters above the square.

The hatch opened, and a beam of guiding light descended, precisely enveloping the area where the four of them stood.

Soon after, six wizards in white uniforms with blue trims, swiftly and professionally, along with four fully armed wizards with sharp eyes, descended quickly along the guiding beam.

Upon landing, they immediately began their efficient work.

"Are you from the Seventh Squadron?" The leader, a wizard with an immensely powerful aura, glanced sharply at Duke and his group as he asked.

"Yes, sir, I am Duke..." Duke and his companions then briefly recounted the events that had transpired.

They also learned the name of the wizard before them, who was Edmon from the Doomsday Bell.

Edmon was a Level 3 Mage who had quickly arrived upon receiving the message to conduct the rescue.

Speaking of which, although the Doomsday Bell used to be a Black Wizard Organization, they were actually quite adept at rescuing people.

The medical technology of the Doomsday Bell was renowned across the West Coast, having resolved many tricky issues.

In this joint operation, many people were assigned to logistics and rescue work, a team like this being one of them.

The six wizards in charge of treatment quickly gathered around Leonard, taking out various portable detection instruments that emitted a slight humming sound.

The leading medical officer quickly assessed Leonard’s injuries, frowning: "Erosion contamination energy has penetrated into the organs, accompanied by severe spiritual power damage and rapid life loss. He needs to undergo immediate purification surgery and life support in the capsule!"

Although wizards are not affected by erosion contamination, nor converted into Erosion Bodies, it doesn’t mean erosion energy entering the body won’t cause damage to both body and spirit.

Leonard’s situation was more severe than imagined; erosion contamination energy had already invaded his spiritual power, making it extremely troublesome.

If not promptly addressed, the consequences would be dire.

Two medical wizards immediately took out a folding floating stretcher, carefully transferring Leonard onto it.

The stretcher emitted a soft white light, forming a transparent life-support shield.

"Can I... can I go with you?" Ella asked anxiously, her face filled with concern.

"Yes, come on, you’re his sister Ella, right? We’ll need you to provide some basic information along the way." The medical officer nodded, gesturing for Ella to also enter the range of the guiding beam.

Ella quickly followed, staying closely by the stretcher’s side.

Another medical wizard approached Duke and Vivian, handing them two vials of pale blue liquid with a refreshing aura:

"This is a High-level Calming Potion and a Basic Recovery Potion. You both expended quite a bit of energy, take these to stabilize your condition. We might need you for a brief inquiry and a physical examination later."

Duke and Vivian accepted the potions with thanks. They indeed felt mentally exhausted, especially Duke, whose Magic Power had been depleted once, only replenished a bit later with a potion, leaving not much remaining.

After grasping the situation here, Edmon turned to Duke and Vivian, saying, "I have a basic understanding of the situation here. Thank you both for your efforts and the information you provided."

"Please board the airship to return to Goose Peak Castle for a detailed report and recovery. The follow-up cleaning and monitoring here will be taken over by other teams."

Duke and Vivian naturally had no objections. Soon enough, Duke and Vivian, who were in slightly better condition, along with the seriously injured Leonard and accompanying Ella, boarded the leading medical airship via the guiding beam.

The inside of the airship was spacious and tidy, filled with the scent of disinfectant and herbal plants.

Leonard was immediately pushed into the emergency treatment room, while Ella waited anxiously outside.

Duke and Vivian were assigned to a rest room. After taking the potions, a tide of exhaustion washed over them.

Through the portholes, they saw the other two combat airships still hovering over Black Oak Town, casting down powerful searchlights as more ground troops landed to begin a thorough lockdown and inspection of the town.

The rumbling of the Floating Airship intensified as it smoothly turned, accelerating towards Goose Peak Castle.

Watching the quickly passing landscape, still shrouded in darkness, Duke felt far from calm inside.

The successful annihilation of the Erosion Body this time was mostly thanks to luck, but the cost to himself was significant, too.

Just the Annihilation Holy Nail was enough to make Duke’s heart ache; after all, it was obtained with thirty thousand points of Black Sail contribution.

Even though it would have been used eventually, actually using it still brought a sting to his heart.

However, the Annihilation Holy Nail played a crucial role. Without it, Duke wouldn’t have known how to thoroughly deal with the Erosion Body. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶

Thinking about this made Duke feel somewhat better; as long as the Annihilation Holy Nail served its purpose, it was worth it.

This was Duke’s first encounter with a real Erosion Body, and facing it made him understand why the Awakened were so terrified of them.

And remember, he was not affected by erosion contamination, making it slightly easier for him to face an Erosion Body.

If the indigenous people of the Devourer Plane faced this Erosion Body, even a Level 2 Awakened stood little chance.

Duke managed to defeat the Erosion Body thanks to his Light Attribute methods, the Blazing Sun Judgment, and Vivian’s cooperation in using the Annihilation Holy Nail.
