Keyboard Immortal-Chapter 2847: Dissonant Melody
“It’s because you trained her well, milord. Once we ruin the Order Ceremony, you can boast to the Myriad Worlds about your glorious feat of conquering Order's divine maiden,” Fan Wencheng said fawningly.
“Hah! Order will collapse once we’re done here. Conquering a mere Order divine maiden means nothing compared to that.” Huang Taiji laughed gleefully.
“You’re the first envoy to complete your mission, leaving the other envoys in the dust. I’m sure the great Deity of Annihilation will view you in a different light,” Fan Wencheng complimented him.
Huang Taiji smiled as well, but he felt a surge of contempt. This fellow is doomed to be an underling for the rest of his life. The collapse of Order would mean that I've reached the limit in my path. I’d have a chance to become a universal deity then; there would be no need for me to earn the Deity of Annihilation’s recognition.
...
In the prison, the usually cold and dignified divine maiden looked unkempt. Her smooth black stockings had been ripped into tatters.
Jiang Luofu had been feeling pessimistic and stifled all this while, but in this moment, she suddenly felt as if nothing else was important. As long as I can be with Ah Zu...
She had already felt unprecedented bliss when the two of them bonded their souls back then, but it was only in this instant that she understood what it meant for two bodies and souls to be united as one. This feeling was far richer and deeper than that.
There were even moments that she didn’t think that she was an Order envoy, but a Bliss and Desire worshiper. That thought made her feel like a sinner, yet it was so incredibly tantalizing.
...
Some time later, Huang Taiji came to check on them. When he saw her limping, he couldn’t help but look at Zu An with a bizarre expression.
This fellow is surprisingly violent despite his gentlemanly appearance. He doesn’t hold back.
But Huang Taiji couldn’t care less. He was after something greater. A mere woman was nothing.
“Have you finally found the meaning of life?”
Zu An was baffled. How am I supposed to answer that question?
“I have even given you my empress to express my sincerity. Do you think the Ming emperor would be willing to do the same?” Huang Taiji harrumphed.
Maybe not the empress, but his imperial sister-in-law, Zu An thought.
Sensing Zu An’s hesitation, Huang Taiji pressed on, “You might be unaware, but that woman is not just one of my empresses, but also an Order envoy.”
He reckoned that Jiang Luofu, to uphold her reputation, wouldn’t reveal her true identity. She would most definitely rather be shrugged off as an ordinary woman and be forgotten. Little did he know that Jiang Luofu knew Zu An and had already told him the truth.
Zu An reacted fast. He gasped in shock. “She’s an Order envoy?!”
“Now that you have tainted an Order envoy, there is no place for you in the Order faction. Think about it. We have even turned an Order envoy into our plaything; do you think the Order faction still has a future?” Huang Taiji spoke with a compelling voice that lured one into depravity.
Zu An played along and revealed a look of despair. “What other choice do I have? All I ask is for the great Khan to bestow that woman I met earlier to me.”
He was worried about Jiang Luofu’s safety. Even if the Little Fiend Empress was protecting her, it would still be safer for Jiang Luofu if he could bring her to his side.
“You’re getting ahead of yourself.” Huang Taiji was rendered speechless. “She’s my empress in this world. I can’t bestow her to you. But if you perform well, I may allow the two of you to meet again in the future.”
His empty promise had Zu An scoffing on the inside, though he played along and asked, “Khan, what do you need me to do?”
Even as a Time Scribe, he was still amazed by how adaptable history was. Important events were fixed in place, but subtle changes in the processes could still change the nature of the incident.
Da Yu’er had also convinced Hong Chengchou to submit to Huang Taiji in history.
“Help me conquer the Great Ming.” Huang Taiji looked at the south with fervent eyes.
“Pardon my directness, but you have already crushed the Ming Empire’s main force. Your victory is already set in stone. I don’t think you require my help.” This was Zu An’s biggest doubt.
“Great Ming is still supported by the remaining elders of the Conglomerate. They are not to be underestimated. For one, they resuscitated the Ming dynasty’s ailing finances. It might be at a disadvantage at the moment, but the Ming Empire is ultimately ten times larger than us. If they can unleash the full potential of the Great Ming, we’ll be in danger.” Huang Taiji briefly paused before adding, “Li Zicheng’s army is a threat as well.”
“Li Zicheng?” Zu An was confused. “We already crushed his army. It’s unlikely for him to make a comeback.”
A mere peasant rebel leader was nothing compared to Order’s and Annihilation’s experts.
Huang Taiji shook his head. “Reproduction never lacks soldiers.”
“Reproduction?” Zu An was baffled. He hadn’t expected Li Zicheng to get involved with the Deity of Reproduction.
“I have received news from my sources that Li Zicheng has been bestowed with Reproduction power and is amassing a huge army. Enemies he fights against will be unknowingly assimilated into his group and become his soldiers. We can’t let our guard down against such a formidable opponent.” Huang Taiji looked at Zu An. “You fought against him before, and you’re an expert at strategizing. That’s why I wanted to recruit you.”
“Thank you for your generous compliment, Khan.” Zu An clasped his fist. “May I ask about your true identity, so that I may know which exalted individual I am serving?”
“I am one of the Deity of Annihilation’s eleven envoys, Dissonant Melody.” Huang Taiji stood with an air of grandeur. He was clearly proud of his identity.
Zu An’s heart skipped a beat.
The Doomsday Beast who destroyed the Monster World was nothing more than the vanguard. The envoys are bound to be far stronger.
Hold on. There are eleven of them...
He took this chance to ask, “May I know if each of Annihilation’s eleven envoys corresponds to each of the other universal deities?”
His name is Dissonant Melody, and he’s fighting against the Order faction now. His mission is probably something along the lines of destroying the Order faction.
Dissonant Melody glanced at him. “I can see why you’re a Memory envoy. There’s no point withholding the truth from you anymore. Yes, you’re right. The ultimate fate awaiting all beings in the Myriad Worlds is annihilation. The same is true for universal deities.”
Zu An was alarmed. Annihilation is making an enemy out of all the universal deities. Are they not worried about suffering the same fate as the Deity of Death and being lynched to death by the other deities?
“Death has died. Love and Beauty has fallen. After this battle, Order and Reproduction will no longer pose a threat. The annihilation of all things has become inevitable.” Dissonant Melody’s face twisted in frenzy. “Serve Annihilation well, and you may find a seat among us.”
