The man felt like he was looking at a celestial being brightening the surrounding with her very presence. He was so distracted he did not notice his surroundings, the presence that has wrath in him ready to explode.

Clack-

The man suddenly felt a cold metal object pressed on his temple sending shivers down his spine to his very soul. The feeling of death wrapping him instantly scaring him so much he almost soiled himself.

No. He really soiled himself when he saw that piercing cold eyes staring at him as if it was ready to shred him and drag his soul down to deepest floors of hell and torture him for eternity.

’This...how did I not notice anything?’ The man stood there frozen, shock and fear clear on his face.

Lexus’ jaws tightened as he stared at the man who was frozen in place but did not at all let go of October. This made his sword-like brows to furrow in dissatisfaction.

"Let go." Lexus said, straightforwardly and domineeringly. This made the man tremble in place.

Lexus beckoned for October to go to him. However, he did not notice any movement from. He turned his gaze and locked eyes with October’s instantaneously, the very existence that made his life purposeful, meaningful.

His wife.

His life.

His world.

His October.

The one he longed for.

The agonizing hours of searching for her felt years, decades, or even centuries long of searching.

Lexus’ troubled heart now felt lighter. He could not help but shiver at her sight. He did not notice that his eyes slowly turned red and misty as he looked at her.

October smiled a beautiful and dazzling smile at Lexus. She was relieved, so so relieved that he came. Her trust for him did not waver. She believed that he would find her and truly, he did not betray the trust she’d given him.

Relief washed over her. At the same time, her body swayed and her vision became blurry. Knowing Lexus, she knew that she was safe now.

"Husband-" October called before she went unconscious.

The man felt like this was his chance to escape and so he took it. Lexus was looking at October and he saw that she was about fall.

"Fck!" The man gnashed. He roughly pushed October to Lexus and sprinted away to escape.

"WIFE!" Lexus was so frightened at this point. He scrambled to catch October safely in his arms. He snapped to look at the fleeing figure of the man and with a swift movement, he aimed his gun and shoot at the fleeing man’s leg.

"AHH!"

Without fail, the man was shot. He lost his balance and fell forward squealing like a pig in slaughter. He groaned in pain before trying to climb up again to run but before he could even stand, men in black surrounded him, much to his terror.

All he could mutter was, "Fck!" Then he was punched to unconsciousness.\

Meanwhile, Lexus dropped the gun and gave all his attention to October who had fainted in his arms. He looked at her pale face, closed eyes, and lips devoid of color. He even felt like the body in his arms was turning cold.

"No, no. nooooo! Wife! Wake up! Please, wake up!" Lexus called, eyes red. He was now panicking and his calming heart has now yet again ached painfully in his chest.

He raised his trembling hand and patted her cheek as if to wake her up but it was to no avail.

"Wife...love...my very lovely wife, you can’t leave me. Please, please, wake up!" Lexus cried.

For the first time in his life, Lexus cried. He cradled October’s body. He rubbed his hand on her back as if to give her some warmth.

"You can’t leave me! You’re mine in this life, the next, for a lifetime." He sobbed. "You still have yet to give birth to our children. You have yet grow old with me! I won’t agree to you leaving me! Never!"

Luke run to where Lexus was and stopped a few meters from them. There he saw his stoic, cold brother crying with tears and snot. This scene left him dumbfounded but he collected himself.

This was not the time for this. He called for his men and walked to where Lexus was.

"Brother!" Luke called and looked at October’s pale unconscious self in his arms. He crouched down and put his hand on Lexus’ shoulder and gave it a shake. "Hey! Snap out of it! She doesn’t look good so we need to get her to the hospital."

As if Lexus was awaken in his stupor, "Yes. That’s right!"

Lexus stood up and carried his wife in a princess carry with great care and hurriedly went out of the forest to where their cars were parked. Luke trailed behind him, with a worried look while gesturing for his men to follow along with the man. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

After running in haste, they finally made it out of the forest and got into the car. Lexus cradled October, silently looking at her face. He looked down and noticed that specks of blood stained her clothes. He immediately looked for her wound.

There were some few cuts on her face and arms. One thing that stood out was the wound on her palm. It was deep and the blood was still trickling which was alarming.

"To the closest hospital. Hurry!" Luke ordered and the driver instantly pressed on the gas. Other cars where their subordinates were followed suit.

Cars zoomed toward the city in great speed, passing a number of cars and pedestrian. The sight of it was astonishing making others spit some curses for the rich and others got jealous.

The people wondered why a trail of cars drove hurriedly in the bustling city.

"Why are we not yet at the hospital?" Lexus’ voice spoke so deep and cold, almost devoid of life. There seemed to not even a hint of worry.

It may seen like Lexus was fine but Luke knew all too well how dangerous his brother is now. So dangerous even he did not want to get near him. Heck he might get himself sent far away beaten or worse killed.

Luke shivered and just silently gave a look at the driver. The driver nodded and sped up.

Luke looked at Lexus through the rear-view mirror but quickly turned away while shivering.

It did not take long till they stopped at the nearest hospital.

"Finally." Luke sighed in relief and jumped out of the car to assist Lexus only to see him swiftly got out of the car carrying October and run inside.

Nurses, seeing the urgency, promptly assisted Lexus. Doctors were called at once and run to the ER. After that, they examined October swiftly and deftly.

Luke felt like he is not needed right now so he did not follow inside. He instead took his phone out of his pocket and contacted one of his subordinates.

"Did you capture them?"

"Yes, sir. We captured all of the kidnappers. However, during our search, we found a body hidden in a corner."

’Must be my brother.’ Luke thought as he searched for his cigarette only to be sternly looked at by one of the nurses.

"Sir, please be mindful! This is a hospital." A petite nurse admonished Luke sternly, disdain clear in her bright eyes.

"S-sorry." Luke was taken aback and put his cigarette back in his trouser pocket. He got a little flustered and apologized again, scratching the back of his head.

"Hmph!" The nurse rolled her eyes at him and went inside to continue her work.

"Sir? Do you have any other instructions?"

"Deal with the body and torture those bastards. Remember to not kill any of them yet, especially the one that got shot on the leg by my brother." Luke said with a deep look.

’My brother seems to have other plans for that one. Knowing him, who is adept at guns, he never misses his target.’

After this call, Luke dialed another number. He was a little worried on how to explain this to them.

"You brat, how come you only called me now? Don’t you know how worried we are? You don’t even visit at home?" A mature and elegant-sounding woman sounded on the other end of the phone.

"Mom." Luke called a little sheepishly. He then heard a gasp.

"Don’t tell me you’ve also found yourself a wife and got her pregnant, just like your brother! Dear! Dear, come here!"

"What, what? Coming. What is it?"

Mother Song gave Father Song a heavy slap on the back making him wince in pain.

Luke felt an incoming headache as he pinched the bridge of his nose.

"Mom! Stop hurting dad! Listening to me first!" He exasperatedly said on the phone.

"What? Your kid is already a year old?!" Mother Song exclaimed.

"Mom! Please stop. I never said anything like that!"

"Now you’re yelling at me? This brat. Come home and kneel in-"

Luke could no longer endure his mother’s overly exaggerated fantasies.

"Mom, sister-in-law is now at the hospital."

"..." Mother Song fell silent for a moment and swayed. Good thing that Father Song was right beside her to lean on.

Seeing the unease and worry in Mother Song, Father Song took the phone from her and pressed speaker.

"What happened?" Dad asked in a serious manner. The cold and stern voice was not loud but all could hear the tension and danger in them. Right now, it can be seen that Lexus looked and felt exactly like his father.

Luke then explained to his parents what had happened from October’s kidnapping to her rescue. He even sent a picture he quickly captured in the forest to them.

That’s right. Before he went to talk to Lexus, he took a quick shot of his brother’s crying face while holding October. He felt that this scene shouldn’t be only witnessed by him so he took that chance.

"Okay. I’ll also move my people to investigate what had happened." Dad said, patting his wife’s head to pacify his wife’s emotions and gave her a kiss on the forehead.

"Make sure to take care of your brother. Given his current state, he seemed like a walking corpse. At this rate, he might go down and admit himself in the hospital next to my daughter-in-law." "I know, mom. No worries." Luke nodded with a small smile. He glanced up only to see that the Doctor attending to October was saying something to Lexus and then they moved inside, with October sleeping on the bed.

"Mom, I have to go now. I think we’re being moved to a room or something."

"Yes, yes. You go now, follow them closely."

"Mhm." He nodded with a smile. He turned to the side and saw that same petite nurse who did not give him any face and his smile grew wider with eyes full of mischief.

"Take care, son."

"I think you’re going to have another daughter-in-law, Mom. That okay with you?" He grinned.

As if sensing danger, the petite nurse inside the emergency ward shivered. She wondered why and looked around only to see that same man she scolded outside. Plus, he winked at her.

The nurse glared back and turned to continue her work.
