Wielding the Thunders Across Two Worlds-Chapter 47: The Funding Problem Is Solved
As Gu Zhao explained, Taoist Yan Song came to understand his situation.
"This is a new world, abundant with Spiritual Qi."
"This world is still under a system similar to the ancient commandery system, with a centralized government under an Emperor. However, the Court’s power is currently in decline." 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
"There are Demons and Ghosts here, as well as Human Mages. It’s an Extraordinary World."
"So all the various Dharma Gates we Daoists practice... Conserve Spirit and Refine Qi, Inner Dragon and Tiger Regulation, Drawing Talismans and Chanting Curses, Talismanic Stepping Technique... we can use them all?"
"The Divine Souls of evil Demons and Ghosts carry Evil Qi. So as long as we perform Demon Suppression, we can Eradicate Evil and Accumulate Merit, absorb that Evil Qi to advance our cultivation, and even condense new Thunder Seeds to help other fellow Daoists?"
"Then what are we waiting for?" Taoist Yan Song immediately began to roll up his sleeves. "Let’s roll up our sleeves and get to work!"
Gu Zhao was dumbfounded. "You’re even more fired up than I am."
Taoist Yan Song flicked his sleeve. "This world is overrun with Demon Fiends and ravaged by ghosts, the Court is in decline, and the people are suffering! This is the perfect opportunity for our generation to expand our territory and spread the glory of The Three Pristine Ones and the majesty of the Jade Emperor throughout the world!"
Gu Zhao was speechless. "You’ve clearly been watching too many of those overbearing CEO dramas..."
"But you have a point." Gu Zhao’s tone suddenly shifted, his expression becoming serious. "As disciples of The Three Pristine Ones, spreading the faith of the Taoist Sect is our undeniable duty!"
The two foxes, one large and one small, shared a smile. Everything was understood without a word.
Next, Gu Zhao and Taoist Yan Song discussed their cover stories and how they would address each other while navigating this world.
First, their origin: they came from a Hidden Sect. Although Gu Zhao was young, he was the newly ascended young Sect Leader, a position of great reverence.
As for titles, Gu Zhao would call Taoist Yan Song "Martial Uncle," and Taoist Yan Song would call Gu Zhao "Sect Leader." This arrangement respected both status and seniority.
"First, I’ll take you to the village to get you acquainted. I’ll have some things to trouble you with later," Gu Zhao said, leading Taoist Yan Song toward the village.
"What kind of things?"
"I want to build a lumber mill in the village." Gu Zhao gestured around them. "All of this is Small-leafed Purple Sandalwood, a rare sight back on Blue Star. We can ship it back and sell it for a lot of money. The profits can then support our development here."
Taoist Yan Song’s eyes lit up. "In that case, why don’t we build a Taoist Temple here to serve as our base? We can’t just keep teleporting in the middle of the woods every time. It wouldn’t be good if someone saw us."
"Using Small-leafed Purple Sandalwood?"
"The wood parts, yes, but the main structure will be reinforced concrete, of course!" Taoist Yan Song chuckled. "We’re in the mountains. It would be a shame if it accidentally burned down in a wildfire."
Gu Zhao raised an eyebrow and smiled. "I can tell you haven’t gotten used to your new identity yet. If a wildfire starts, you can just use the Rain Curse!"
Taoist Yan Song was speechless. "..."
"I’m from the Quanzhen Sect! I focus on cultivating the Three Flowers and Five Qi and harmonizing Dragon and Tiger, Yin and Yang. I never learned these Talismanic Spells!" Taoist Yan Song said, exasperated. "Historically, the Daoists who performed rituals on altars to pray for rain or clear skies were almost all from the Zhengyi Dao."
Gu Zhao blinked. He hadn’t considered that. But it didn’t matter. "You have Magical Power now. Learning these things should be a piece of cake, right?"
"I’ll give it a try," Taoist Yan Song nodded. "Daoists of the Quanzhen Sect rely on their Inner Alchemy True Qi for Demon Suppression as they travel the world. We don’t have as many varied methods as the Zhengyi Dao. Now, in this Otherworld filled with Demons and Ghosts, I really should learn some new things."
At this, Taoist Yan Song became rather pleased with himself. "However, all Taoist Sects are one big family now. Back in the day, when I was practicing Inner Dragon and Tiger Regulation and achieving Water and Fire in Harmony, I also learned some Ancient Taoist Secret Techniques passed down from Qingcheng Mountain."
"What are they?" Gu Zhao asked.
Taoist Yan Song sensed for a moment, then shook his head. "My Magical Power is insufficient right now, so I don’t know if I can use them. After a few days, once I’m ready, we can try them out together."
The two then walked to the mountain village, chatting and laughing, where they met Elder He, Silk Embroideress He, and Bai Ke.
Even though Gu Zhao had already told him, Taoist Yan Song still clicked his tongue in amazement upon seeing a talking White Fox.
But he had to maintain his persona. Taoist Yan Song showed no surprise, only briefly explaining that he had learned of the Sect Leader’s disappearance and had been searching for him all this time, finally managing to find him.
It was only then that Bai Ke "learned" that Gu Zhao was actually the leader of a sect. But when she recalled how, despite his seemingly weak Magical Power, he knew so many incredible types of Magic and Talismans, she didn’t doubt the truth of Taoist Yan Song’s words in the slightest.
Elder He was filled with relief. ’Thankfully this old man arrived a little late. The Silk Embroideress is already Gu Zhao’s Maid. Otherwise, I would have worried he might try to interfere.’
’But it’s fine now. Great figures like them are people of their word; they won’t go back on it.’
The Silk Embroideress, on the other hand, was overjoyed. ’Someone from Gu Zhao’s sect has arrived! This old Daoist is so senior, he must be incredibly powerful. Gu Zhao’s safety is guaranteed now.’
"Heh heh, no wonder!" Seeing the look in the Silk Embroideress’s eyes, the old and crafty Taoist Yan Song instantly understood. He chuckled and said, "So you’re into the kind you can nurture and raise yourself."
"Don’t spout such nonsense!" Gu Zhao retorted sharply.
Taoist Yan Song looked at Gu Zhao. "Or do you actually like them all?"
Gu Zhao fell silent. The silence was deafening.
Taoist Yan Song: →_→
...
Taoist Yan Song returned to Qingcheng Mountain, informed the Supreme Lord Pavilion, and then crossed over to the Otherworld to live in the mountain village.
Building the Taoist Temple wasn’t urgent, but arrangements for the lumber mill could begin. Taoist Yan Song discussed with Elder He a plan to clear an open space in the forest behind the village. They would hire villagers to fell the Small-leafed Purple Sandalwood, perform some rough processing, and then deliver it to the mill to be paid by weight.
As the oldest and most respected person in the village, Elder He thumped his chest and promised to handle it.
And so, over the next few days, construction of the lumber mill began in full swing.
Gu Zhao also said goodbye to his grandparents and returned to Yangcheng. He used Taoist Yan Song’s savings and his own allowance to purchase a batch of silver, which he sent back to the Otherworld and had melted into silver ingots.
As for the future source of funding...
"Dad?"
"Hm?"
"Come with me."
"What are we— What is all this?" Gu Qi was completely stunned. "So much Small-leafed Purple Sandalwood? Where did you get it?"
"I had it shipped from abroad," Gu Zhao said with a straight face.
"Where are the customs documents?" Gu Qi asked, turning back.
"That’s where you come in," Gu Zhao said earnestly. "I can give you a fifty-percent discount."
Gu Qi: ???
...
Gu Qi and Li Man were, after all, just ordinary people, and the other world was dangerous.
So Gu Zhao didn’t tell them the truth. He just brought out Taoist Yan Song to lend him some credibility. With Taoist Yan Song’s confirmation, Gu Qi was finally convinced that Gu Zhao hadn’t met a scammer, but rather one of the Daoist’s religious associates from abroad.
Thus, Gu Qi quickly established an import-export trading company. He handled the customs declarations and taxes, ensuring everything went through official channels, and finally transferred the payment to the account provided by Taoist Yan Song.
A win-win!
And with that, the funding problem was also solved.
