When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster-Chapter 924: Caught by My Brother
As soon as Lake left, a bad feeling crept into Gia as she faced Rhiannon Xavier’s increasingly cold gaze.
She clutched her phone, her pink lips slightly apart, "Miss Xavier, the night breeze is a bit chilly, so I can’t accompany you for a walk. Old Mr. Downey advised not to catch a cold."
"Old Mr. Downey? Why not call him Grandpa now?" Rhiannon surveyed her, teasing, "Do you also think it’s inappropriate?"
Gia thought, wasn’t I trying to avoid upsetting you? But she didn’t argue, just maintained a faint smile. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
"You know it’s cold, yet you ran so far. Didn’t my brother just bring you rabbit meat? What’s this? Returning the favor so quickly?" Rhiannon crossed her arms, looking at her with a smile, "You really take my words as wind past your ear, telling you to stay away from him, yet you’re getting closer."
Gia didn’t want to argue with her, but she also didn’t want to offend her, considering she lived with the Xavier Family.
So, she curtsied to Rhiannon, "Apologies, Miss Xavier, I need to go back and take my medicine."
With that, she stepped around her, preparing to leave.
Rhiannon glanced at the nearby house and didn’t hold her back here, because it was her brother’s place, so she turned and followed behind.
After walking a few steps, Gia noticed she was being followed, which startled her. She didn’t stop, pretending to take out her phone to check the time but actually dialed Nathan Xavier’s number.
Because there was some distance between here and where she stayed.
She didn’t want any more accidents to happen, wanted to recover her memory quickly, find her family soon, and definitely didn’t want any trouble with Miss Xavier in the Xavier Family.
After a while, she stopped and turned her gaze, "Miss Xavier, I haven’t offended you, nor have I affected you, why do you keep making things difficult for me?"
The call connected, and these words reached Nathan Xavier’s ears clearly.
At that moment, he was in the study and soon heard Rhiannon’s voice—
"Hmph! You haven’t affected me? Are you unaware of your own ambition? Pretending to be a pure white lotus? Women know each other best!"
Gia felt wronged, her tone calm, "I have no ambition."
"Do you think I would believe that? Your pitiful, weak appearance has not only captured father and mother’s attention but also my brother’s interest. What are you up to? The Xavier Family saved your life, and now that you’re awake, you plan to leech here forever?!"
At this, having heard halfway, Nathan Xavier quickly walked out with his phone, naturally anxious, worried, and his heart hanging tightly!
In the whole Xavier Family, only he knew that Rhiannon’s character was quite lacking, so he was concerned she might do something to Gia.
"I don’t intend to stay forever. I’d also like to recover quickly and leave this place as soon as possible." That was her honest thought.
Hearing Gia’s voice, Nathan looked over and vaguely saw the two girls standing by the pond not far away. Holding his phone, he quickly walked towards them.
Seeing Nathan walking this way, Gia spoke neither humbly nor arrogantly to Rhiannon—
"Miss Xavier, I have already explained to you, I’m staying here because I haven’t recovered my memory, and Old Mr. Downey is confident he can cure me. I’m drinking herbal medicine every day."
But she simply wouldn’t listen to these reasons!
"I don’t care! I’ve also said your body’s better; there’s no need to stay here every day. You can go find a job and support yourself instead of being like a parasite! I’m the eldest daughter of the Xavier Family; does my word carry no weight?!"
Rhiannon seemed to have gone mad, and by then Nathan was standing behind her, listening to these words, amazed as the Xavier Family’s young master.
How did she sound like a shrew? Who’s really the parasite here?
