When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster-Chapter 827: Everything Has Changed
Supervisor Peterson glanced at the two women, who immediately lowered their gaze and obediently returned to their seats. This man seemed to understand something.
But now, he had no evidence.
Moreover, he had important matters to attend to, so he said nothing and turned back into his office.
Rachel returned to the office and quickly printed out the report that Ben had delivered, ensuring that the work wasn’t delayed.
Although the issue was resolved, she still felt apologetic and simultaneously angry, sitting at her desk with a troubled mood.
She didn’t understand why she would be targeted by two women she didn’t even know.
It was utterly unreasonable, wasn’t it?
She considered investigating the surveillance but felt that blowing things out of proportion would be unwise, and it would be bothersome for Chase, and adverse for the company.
After Ben delivered the report, he came in, "Rachel, I’m sorry you had to go through this."
She looked up, anxiously asking, "Ben, do you believe that I handed in the report this morning?"
"Of course I do."
She smiled, "That’s good then, nothing else matters. From now on, regardless of whether the documents are important or not, I will personally deliver them to the intended recipient and keep a backup for myself."
"Right." Ben nodded, admiring her resolve, "There are some things in the workplace that are inevitable."
After Chase finished his lunch with a client and returned to the office, Ben took the opportunity to inform him of the situation.
"Find out." Chase trusted Rachel unconditionally. Upon hearing about it, he was visibly displeased, "Check the surveillance!"
"The surveillance malfunctioned two days ago." Ben was helpless, he had secretly investigated.
Chase turned his gaze, frowning in anger, "The surveillance malfunctioned? Why wasn’t it repaired promptly? And two days ago?"
"Brother, it’s not my fault..." Ben lowered his voice, full of a desire to survive, "I didn’t even know..."
"Hold them accountable." He was uninterested in wasting words, "Isn’t the maintenance department operational 24/7? How could a surveillance malfunction go on for two days?"
"Yes."
After Ben left and Rachel returned from the restroom, walking into the CEO’s office, Chase knew she had been wronged and felt a deep sympathy for her.
But he asked nothing, fearing that it might upset her.
Rachel also said nothing, acting as if nothing had happened, greeting him with a smile, and even inquiring about his health.
Chase quietly accompanied her, chatting with her...
Rachel was definitely in a low mood that afternoon, as she couldn’t comprehend why unrelated people would cause trouble.
So in the workplace, trying not to offend others is pointless, isn’t it?
After work, she didn’t leave with Chase but left on her own. In fact, recently they seldom left work together, rarely coming and going together.
After all, their relationship wasn’t public yet. Rachel had neither the courage nor was she prepared.
Feeling down, she didn’t go directly home. Instead, she walked along the riverbank alone, the beautiful sunset falling on her shoulders. Unknowingly, Rachel found herself outside The Fairy Tale Nook.
The warm yellow lights seeped out from this shop. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
Memories came flooding back, this was a dessert shop opened during college with Faye, designed by Faye herself, and Dylan helped with the decoration.
So many years have passed, never to return...
These years felt like a dream to Rachel, though she was still quite young, she had already married early, had children early, and divorced early.
The evening breeze brushed past, and when she thought of Chase, she couldn’t help but feel full of regret; such a good man, yet met so late, she couldn’t give him a complete self.
