Chapter 727: Chapter 727: Following

As the head of the family, Mr. Shaw had no idea what to do.

He had never achieved much in his life; from the countryside to Argent, he had always been helping raise children.

He had no one else outside, and the only thing he was proud of, the one with great abilities, was this son, Dylan Shaw.

Mrs. Shaw was crying eagerly, stomping her feet in the rental room, while cursing Rachel Sherman—

"This woman has such a cruel heart! People say a day’s marriage is worth a hundred days of gratitude, but this woman’s conscience has been eaten by a dog!"

"Things have come to this point, think of a way!" Mr. Shaw was also anxious.

Mrs. Shaw retorted, "Where can I find a way? It’s not like I run the police station!"

In the following days, Mr. and Mrs. Shaw ran around, unable to find a way to save their son.

The old couple couldn’t eat or sleep, worrying about their useless son.

"There’s no way, Shaw, we can only ask Rachel Sherman for mercy." Mrs. Shaw sighed, "Only the one who tied the bell can untie it."

Mr. Shaw wasn’t hopeful, "How could she be willing to help? The police have already taken him away."

"As long as Rachel admits it was her initiative, or it was mutual consent, and she just reported a false police report in a fit of anger, this matter would just pass."

Mrs. Shaw would come up with any idea to defend her son.

Only Rachel Sherman could solve this matter, Mr. Shaw knew that too.

But to ask Rachel to change her statement probably wasn’t possible, because filing a false police report would also mean facing punishment.

"No matter what, I have to try." She was really going to go all out for her son.

But when they waited for Rachel outside the office building, they saw this scene—

A man in a suit, smiling, walked toward Rachel. After picking her up, he opened the door of a car next to them and helped her sit inside.

Then, the man walked around the car to the driver’s seat, and under Mr. and Mrs. Shaw’s watch, Chase Fletcher drove the car away.

"Rachel has a new boyfriend?"

Mrs. Shaw’s heart sank heavily. She quickly stopped a taxi nearby and dragged her husband inside.

"Driver, quick! Please follow that car in front!" Mrs. Shaw anxiously watched that Volvo driving away, afraid of losing it.

Mr. Shaw sat beside his wife, his mind full of concern for his son, looking worried.

The taxi followed all the way to the entrance of Rachel’s community and stopped.

They watched the car door open, Rachel getting out with the man, and the two of them walked into the community.

Living together?

Mr. and Mrs. Shaw also got out of the car and quietly followed them in, taking a picture of the license plate of that Volvo as they passed.

Minute by minute passed, and they didn’t know how their son was doing, leaving the old couple very worried.

Watching Rachel and that man enter a building, Mrs. Shaw waited for a while before approaching the elevator door.

Watching the numbers on the elevator indicating the paused floor, she memorized it.

"This might not be Rachel’s place," Mr. Shaw said. "It could be that man’s home, it won’t help us to find him."

"No matter, let’s record it first and wait and see."

Then the old couple stayed hidden outside, waiting as the night grew darker, until eight in the evening.

Just as the old couple thought there would be no progress today, a man’s figure came into view. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞

Chase Fletcher came out. He walked out alone, having brought Rachel back, shared a meal, and chatted a bit.

The two have recently been following their own feelings, in an exploratory dating phase.

"This is indeed Rachel’s home."

Mrs. Shaw watched Chase Fletcher, pulling Mr. Shaw to quickly follow him.

"Where are we going now? Aren’t we going to find Rachel?" Mr. Shaw was puzzled.

"First, find out where this man lives. Rachel won’t escape from living there anyway, so we can come back later."

Mrs. Shaw thought that figuring out where Chase Fletcher lived might be useful in the future.

In the taxi, the old couple couldn’t figure out how Rachel, divorced with a child, could meet a second spring so quickly.

Moreover, the man was well-dressed, and although they didn’t know the brand of the car he drove, it was clearly expensive.

Was Rachel really that charming?

Why hadn’t they noticed this before?
