Chapter 726: Chapter 726: Let’s Get Married in a Flash Too

"Thank you," Rachel Sherman said as she watched him set the dishes on the table.

"Eat up, don’t be polite."

She turned and gently opened a bedroom door, where the nanny was just getting June to sleep and was tucking her in.

Seeing the door open a crack, the nanny gestured for Rachel to be quiet and whispered, "She’s just fallen asleep, I’ll tidy up the room for you, go do what you need to do."

The nanny’s intention was clear; she hoped Rachel could spend more time with Mr. Fletcher and that she wouldn’t interrupt.

"Have you had your meal?" Rachel asked.

"I’ve already eaten." The nanny responded kindly and softly, "Don’t worry about me, take care of your own things."

Rachel nodded and gently closed the door.

To ease her discomfort, Chase Fletcher said to her, "I haven’t eaten yet either, do you mind joining me?"

He had cooked the egg fried rice himself, so how could she mind? Besides, he had made two bowls.

"I’ll get you a bowl and chopsticks, have a seat." As she spoke, she went into the kitchen, not daring to meet his eyes.

She couldn’t muster the courage; the divorce had already made her feel inferior, and now being caught in such a situation by him was just too much.

Chase Fletcher didn’t mention Dylan Shaw the whole time, showing his high emotional intelligence.

As if the earlier incident had never happened.

Rachel several times wanted to explain something to him, but felt she had no standing, and perhaps he didn’t care anyway?

They ate in an atmosphere filled with awkwardness.

Until Rachel finished her meal, she put down her bowl and chopsticks and looked up at him.

Chase Fletcher also looked up, their eyes meeting, and there was kindness and warmth in his gaze.

He truly liked Rachel, liked the feeling she gave him.

"Are you sure you still want to be with me?" Rachel’s gaze also held him, "I certainly can’t give you anything, I’m a troublemaker, constantly in a mess."

"Let me protect you, openly and honestly, can I?" Chase was happy she initiated this topic, his face breaking into a smile, "Let’s get married, and you can live with me."

Rachel’s eyes widened, married???

"..." She panicked inwardly, "I don’t know what you’re thinking, but this is really outrageous."

She spoke with the courage to try dating. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

Because she liked him too.

"It’s not outrageous, your friend got a marriage certificate with President Lancaster the first time they met, right? And we’ve known each other for so long."

"My situation is different." Rachel was very aware of herself, "I’m divorced and have a child, would your parents agree?"

"Marriages are like shoes, only the wearer knows if they fit," Chase seemed determined, "We can start dating, right? And think about the marriage later?"

He was already very happy to take one step closer.

Rachel’s heart was a mess, her cheeks flushed red, "What can I give you? Why me?"

"You give me emotional value, when I can’t see you, I miss you." He was very straightforward, "It even affects my work, love is something you can’t explain, and if you can, it’s never love."

"..." Well, Reporter Sherman was left speechless.

Mr. Shaw and Mrs. Shaw received the news that their son was arrested by evening.

The couple was anxious, then started blaming each other—

"Raising a son, raising a son, is it you who made Dylan do this?!" Mr. Shaw was furious, "How can you force something like this?! Even if she got pregnant, would Rachel keep it?! Wouldn’t she just go to the hospital to get rid of it in no time?!"

"I didn’t! It wasn’t me who instigated it!" Mrs. Shaw was also fraught with injustice, "What should we do now? Lose his job and go to jail? Hurry up and think of a way! We only have one son!"
