When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster-Chapter 503: Fighting for Her
"But I can tell he has feelings for you." The landlord uncle said bluntly—
"If he’s just a friend, who would stay with you all day moving house? And even help with your kid? Don’t be so lost in dreams that you can’t see clearly!"
"Listen, uncle speaks from experience. If he’s suitable, don’t miss out. These days, being a single mom isn’t easy, having a man to share the burden is always good."
Rachel listened to these words and could only muster an awkward smile.
It was getting late, and she said goodbye to the landlord uncle, thanking him again for all his help during this time.
As Rachel turned to go downstairs, she thought about the reminder from the landlord uncle, recalling how President Fletcher had indeed spent the entire day with her, and suddenly felt a burden in her heart.
He couldn’t possibly like her, could he?
Just divorced, with a kid in tow, how could it be possible?
As she walked out of the corridor, not far ahead, Dylan looked at the big truck and then at her, "Where’s June? Where are you moving to?"
Rachel was startled, meeting his gaze, feeling exhausted.
Upon hearing Dylan’s voice, Chase, who was holding June in the Volvo, also looked out the window—was her ex-husband here again?
Just then, June snuggled closer to him, waking up groggily, realizing a strange uncle was holding her, the little one instantly woke up alert, and then resisted with all her might—
"Mommy, Mommy!" She started crying, pouting, "Mommy!" Her face was full of fear.
The sound of the child’s cry came through the car window, catching the attention of both Dylan and Rachel.
Chase panicked as well, having never taken care of a child, he had no experience soothing one.
As the car door opened, Rachel ran over.
Chase got out of the car, holding the child, and handed her to Rachel.
This scene left Dylan dumbfounded, realizing he had become an outsider in this situation!
"Rachel!"
Dylan, impassioned and feeling his manly dignity threatened, shouted at her—
"You won’t let me see the child, only because you’ve found her a new father!"
Dylan charged forward, wanting to vent, but Chase stepped up, pinned him with a reverse move, "Rachel, take the child back to the car first."
It was getting late, though Rachel worried for Chase, she trusted he had good skills, so she carried June back to the car, trying not to frighten her.
"Dylan, since the divorce, let’s be civil and make way for others, don’t keep pestering!" Chase frowned and reminded.
"Who do you think you are?" Dylan retorted angrily, wanting to resist, but his arm felt like it was going to dislocate—
"What? You’ve inquired about my name, haven’t you? Rachel must have mentioned me plenty, right? When you’re lying beside her, do you think of me, making your heart uneasy?"
Smack!
Chase threw a fierce punch at Dylan!
With just one hit, he made Dylan’s mouth bleed!
Rachel, who had just gotten back into the car, watched this scene trembling inside; her head was really spinning! 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
The child hadn’t slept well, wailing in her arms!
"Don’t cry, don’t cry, June, Mommy’s here..." She hurriedly soothed the child, worried the commotion outside would scare her.
Dylan couldn’t swallow his pride, he simply raised his hand, going crazy, "Ah—" roaring with fury, venting all the grievances that had been piling up.
Just like that, two men fought over Rachel late at night!
The driver, seeing this, hurried down to mediate.
Rachel was anxious, putting June in the car, and also hurriedly got out, "Stop fighting, stop fighting!" She worried, fearing Chase would get hurt.
Because at this moment, Dylan was like a trapped beast.
Soon enough, police sirens rang out, and a police car arrived.
Officers patrolling the road got out of the car and with great effort, separated the two.
In the dead of night, the group was taken to the police station for statements, Rachel holding June went along, finally leaving around ten at night.
Her heart was filled with apology, and on the return trip in the car, she sat beside Chase, with a thousand things to say but not knowing how to start, "I’m sorry for causing you trouble."
"You’re hurt." She continued, seeing the bruise at the corner of his mouth, "Should we go to the hospital to check it out?" Her tone was full of concern.
