When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster-Chapter 504: Helping Him Apply Medicine
Chase shook his head and turned to ask her, "Has he been harassing you like this all the time?" His tone showed that he was more worried about her.
Rachel Sherman had run out of patience with Dylan Shaw and there was no chance of going back.
So she said to him, "President Lancaster punished him, and he can’t find decent work in Argent, so he keeps pretending he wants to remarry."
"After tonight’s incident, I’m worried he’ll take revenge on you; he must have misunderstood." Chase reached out and tugged the chubby little hand of the girl in her arms, and then looked back at Rachel apologetically, saying, "I acted impulsively and brought trouble to you."
"As long as the community is safe enough, he won’t be able to find the child." Rachel was very calm, "Don’t let it burden you; it’s a legal society now, and I’m an adult. Even if he wants revenge, he can’t do anything to me."
The warm yellow light in the car brought their gazes together, nurturing an inexplicable feeling.
The driver steered the car towards a certain housing complex.
Actually, the truck wasn’t carrying much. Most of it was June’s supplies: clothes, diapers, milk powder, and the like.
Chase and the movers helped to carry everything upstairs.
The little one had fallen asleep in her mother’s arms again, and after the workers had moved everything, they left.
Rachel gently placed her sleeping child onto the bed and covered her with a little blanket. From then on, the mother and daughter would have a new home of their own.
She walked quietly out of the bedroom and gently closed the door. The wall clock already showed 11 o’clock.
It was late, and outside the window were the shining lights of countless homes.
Since meeting Chase at the sales office, he had been by her side, helping her choose a home layout, check the lighting, follow procedures, get a loan... and move.
When Rachel needed help the most, he appeared in front of her.
Under the warm yellow indoor light, Rachel stood in front of him, her gaze falling on the slight bruise at the corner of his lips. She said, "I just ordered some anti-inflammatory medicine on Meituan, and it’s on its way."
"Okay." He withdrew his gaze and sat down on the nearby sofa, not in a hurry to leave.
Soon, the delivery person knocked, and Rachel took the medicine bag with a thank you.
Rachel placed the bag on the coffee table, "Thank you for all your hard work today; it took up most of your day." She took out ointment, cotton swabs...
The room was exceptionally quiet, so silent you could hear a pin drop.
Chase’s expression was gentle, and he smiled, "Helping a client is my honor, and I have to thank Miss Sherman for giving me the opportunity to be more down-to-earth."
His reply instantly lightened the atmosphere.
Rachel smiled, picked up the iodine-soaked cotton swab, and as she raised her face, she met the man’s deep gaze.
This was the first time the two of them had looked at each other so closely.
He found her eyes very beautiful; despite having gone through a failed marriage, they remained so pure.
Rachel quickly came back to her senses and focused on the wound at the corner of his lips, "I’m not a professional, but I’ll try to be gentle."
"Okay." The man also retracted his gaze; he always spoke little, appearing calm and not wanting to press her.
But on the way home, reflecting on the moment Rachel applied the medicine, Chase felt an unusual wave of emotion.
It was an inexplicable feeling, and at the time, he gently picked up a strand of her hair by her ear and tucked it behind her ear.
In that moment, their eyes met. He really didn’t know what he was thinking; his thoughts momentarily paused.
