When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster-Chapter 458: The Meeting Between Mother-in-Law and Daughter-in-Law
"Grandpa, I’m heading out now?" The girl’s eyes sparkled, her smile soft, knowing he wouldn’t object anymore.
She waved at the old man and carried the herbal medicine towards the back yard.
From the second-floor window, Nanny Warren finally saw Faye Turner’s figure heading towards the back yard. She quickly turned to the middle-aged woman lost in thought on the sofa, "Madam, Miss Turner is here."
Eliza Hayes slightly widened her eyes, pulling back her wandering thoughts, and looked at Nanny Warren. Because she hadn’t slept well last night, her face looked extremely pale and haggard.
Nanny Warren hurried downstairs to greet her, while Eliza Hayes remained seated on the sofa.
When Faye Turner entered the chapel, Nanny Warren appeared at the staircase corner, "Miss Turner." She called respectfully and quickly descended.
Faye Turner glanced over, lifting the herbal medicine in her hand, "For you!"
Nanny Warren held onto the railing, took a few steps down, and received the bag from her, "Thank you." Then she told her, "Madam is in the upstairs living room."
"Okay." She nodded and stepped towards the stairs.
Nanny Warren went to prepare the fruit tray, not worrying at all about whether Faye Turner might be hurt. Ever since Madam found out Adrian’s biological father wasn’t that man, she deeply regretted it, likely only thinking about making amends.
The door to the second-floor living room was wide open. Faye Turner appeared at the doorway, and the middle-aged woman on the sofa stood up, their mother-daughter-in-law gazes intersecting.
She stepped inside, but the words Eliza Hayes wanted to say caught in her throat. She was desperate to confirm the matter from last night, wondering if she had misheard! She was incredulous!
"Sit down."
Faye Turner nodded and sat down on the sofa beside her.
As a senior, Eliza Hayes couldn’t lose her composure too much. Although she restrained her edge, her tone remained cold, "You say Adrian is not Caleb’s son? You must take responsibility for your words."
Faye Turner pulled out a paternity test report from her bag and handed it to her. It was another copy printed by a classmate that morning and brought to her.
Eliza Hayes froze, afraid to take it.
Faye Turner had no choice but to gently place it on the coffee table and then observed the woman’s expression opposite her.
From the subtle expression on her mother-in-law’s face, she could tell she seemed unaware that Adrian wasn’t Caleb Lancaster’s son. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
So Faye Turner asked outright, "Who is Adrian’s father?"
"..." Eliza Hayes’s heart felt as if it was bleeding, her lips as pale as her complexion.
Recalling her obsessive attitude towards her son over the past twenty years, she realized she had been blinded by hatred, committing the most foolish acts.
"You used drugs to control Mr. Lancaster. You hated him, so you disliked Adrian because you thought Adrian was his child, right?" Faye Turner’s tone was gentle, yet her gaze remained fixed on her face.
"Were you forced to marry into The Lancaster Family? Was there an unavoidable reason that separated you from a former lover?"
Some questions, even if she doesn’t answer them, Faye Turner could discern her heart from her expressions.
That is, she certainly didn’t love Caleb Lancaster!
"Why did you do a paternity test?" Eliza Hayes lifted her gaze, suddenly asking with some alarm, "And does Adrian know about this?"
Faye Turner answered truthfully, "Because I sense the relationship dynamics are complex. As a member of The Lancaster Family, I want to help resolve some historically outdated issues. I want to know what exactly is hidden in this grand mansion."
The Taoist priest said she is the Lancaster’s lucky star.
She will make this family better and better...
Eliza Hayes resigned to fate; if it were Serena Sutton or Sienna Dawson as Mrs. Lancaster, they wouldn’t care about such matters, only delight in spending money and living a life of luxury.
Eliza Hayes couldn’t imagine how good her future might be, but The Lancaster Family will get better and better.
The things she’s done, once truly exposed, are enough to land her in prison. She abused her son for so many years, feeling exhausted and hopeless.
"Who else did you test?" Eliza Hayes asked again.
