When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster-Chapter 447: Can’t Come for Nothing
After breakfast, beside a coffee table inlaid with blue and white porcelain, a set of elegant tea ware was placed on the left, with a servant skillfully brewing tea.
A chessboard was on the right, with grandfather and grandson sitting across from each other, discussing recent company events while playing chess.
Faye Turner sat quietly next to Adrian Lancaster. She appeared calm, but her thoughts had long drifted away.
Coming back is not easy; she needed to do something practical and useful.
Sienna Dawson was brought over early in the morning by Eliza Vance, indicating that this difficult mother-in-law had not yet relented. Even though her relationship with her son was strained, she insisted on doing as she pleased.
Thus, Eliza is truly frightening.
So, is she really Adrian’s biological mother?
When this doubt resurfaced in her mind, Faye could no longer sit still; she had to find a way to do a paternity test.
Therefore, she stood up and quietly said, "I’m going to the restroom."
"Alright."
Grandfather looked at her kindly, liking her more and more each time, while Adrian gazed at her with eyes full of doting tenderness.
After Faye left, Grandfather asked Adrian Lancaster, "How are things between you two lately?"
"Grandpa, something amazing happened," Adrian shared in a good mood, "Faye and I actually met in kindergarten."
"Oh? Is that so amazing?" The old master was both surprised and delighted, "Tell me quickly! Are you growing more fond of her?"
"I’ve always loved her deeply," Adrian affirmed.
The old master still expressed concern, "That girl, what’s her name... Sienna Dawson, right? Does she often linger around you?"
"Did my mom ask her to come?" Adrian’s face darkened. Since the topic was raised, he asked, "What does she want now?"
"I’ll seriously scold and educate your mom, but regarding Faye, you need to soothe her emotions. Don’t be fooled by her calm demeanor," Grandfather reminded, "After all, no woman who cares about you wouldn’t feel jealous of your past with Miss Dawson."
After coming out of the restroom, Faye thought for a moment and then stepped toward the backyard.
In broad daylight and with Adrian back together with her, Eliza didn’t dare do much to her, especially since Sienna had already left.
Upon reaching the backyard, she saw Nanny Warren sweeping the falling leaves. They saw each other almost simultaneously.
"Miss Turner." Nanny Warren stopped her sweeping and turned to look at her, speaking softly. Because the mistress didn’t permit it, she hadn’t changed to calling her "madam."
Out of Eliza’s sight range, Faye was immensely grateful to Nanny Warren. Last time, if not for Nanny Warren, the child in her belly couldn’t have been saved.
"Nanny Warren," she said with a gentle smile, her voice soft, "Good morning." She respected her as if she were an elder.
"These maple leaves are really beautiful," Faye bent down again, picking up several intact, bright red maple leaves from the pile, "They can be used for crafts."
Nanny Warren lowered her eyes to look at her and asked, "Do you need them? I can get you a bag." Seeing her interest.
Sitting on the ground collecting fallen leaves, Faye looked up, "Yes, please, thank you!" Her eyes were dark and luminous.
Nanny Warren gave her a gentle smile, put down the broom, and turned towards the small building.
Faye carefully picked through the maple leaves. Nanny Warren quickly returned with a bag, and she put the selected leaves inside, "Where is mom?" she asked softly.
Nanny Warren replied, "Upstairs." 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
Faye breathed a sigh of relief, smiling at Nanny Warren, "I want to go wash my hands." Her hands were dirty from picking leaves.
"Please follow me," Nanny Warren led her inside, "the door on the right."
"Alright, thank you."
Faye walked in, turned on the faucet to wash her hands, and immediately saw the two toothbrush cups on the counter, with two toothbrushes inside.
