Chapter 223: Chapter 223: Grandpa Is the Embodiment of Justice

As it was nearing the end of the workday, Faye’s phone rang. She glanced at the caller ID and swiped to answer, "Grandfather." Her voice was gentle and sweet.

"Faye, I’m really sorry, Adrian Lancaster has done something irresponsible again. I’ll straighten him out later!" The old man was indignant.

"Grandfather, it’s a small matter. You don’t need to worry," Faye smiled and said. "They’re discussing work."

"Discussing work? All night long?" the old man said angrily. "You shouldn’t cover for him! It’s always one thing or another, trending online, and it really pains me. My Faye isn’t made of iron."

"Faye, rest assured, as long as I’m here, I won’t allow anyone to ruin your marriage!"

Faye felt reassured and very touched.

After chatting with her grandfather, she felt her mood had improved a bit today.

She didn’t see Adrian Lancaster downstairs and was about to call a taxi home when she received a call from her adoptive mother, Chloe Gable. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺

"Hello, Mom."

"Faye, what’s going on? I saw on the news that Adrian didn’t come home all night? Was he with another woman watching the sunrise?" Her mother was alarmed, with worry in her voice.

"Mom, that’s not how it is. You don’t have to worry; the media is just exaggerating," Faye hailed a taxi and told the driver her mother’s address.

"Mom, I’m coming over to see you now and explain everything in detail, really, there’s no need to worry about us."

The conversation continued along the way.

Back at her mother’s rented apartment, Faye reassured her with a smile, "The media usually distorts facts for traffic."

"But the photos and videos are real, aren’t they? And it’s true he didn’t come home last night, right?" Chloe Gable wasn’t fooled.

Her daughter was left speechless.

She held Faye’s hand, her eyes full of concern, "You’re pregnant, and he’s treating you like this... I’m really heartbroken."

"Mom, it’s okay." The girl hugged the middle-aged woman who looked a bit worn out, smiling as she comforted her, "Adrian’s already explained it to me. I believe him."

Yet the truth was that her son-in-law had spent the night with another woman.

You can trust ghosts over a man’s words.

Faye clearly understood it was a marriage without emotion and foundation, held together solely by her grandfather, and had no idea what the future would hold.

However, she wouldn’t easily get a divorce because she wanted to provide a complete family for her child.

Faye hadn’t spent time with her mother for a while, so she decided to have dinner there today and helped out with preparing vegetables.

"Has your father contacted you?"

The girl paused slightly with her chopsticks, looking up at her.

"No idea where he vanished to. A while back, he asked me for money, said to prepare it in three days, and then disappeared."

Evidently, her mother hadn’t heard about Vincent Turner being taken away by the police.

Faye hesitated a long while, "I’m sorry, Mom. He tried to extort 300,000 from me, so I called the police and had him arrested."

Chloe Gable slowly looked up, her weary eyes full of shock.

But she didn’t blame Faye.

The mother and daughter gazed at each other in silence, filling the room with a long pause...

In the evening, a Lamborghini parked at the old home, in the greenish, serene courtyard.

Adrian Lancaster came back on his own, finding his grandfather waiting in the yard with a cane topped with a dragon head, his expression serious.

"Grandfather, let me explain first!" Adrian rushed over after getting out of the car, eager to speak before the old man could scold him. "Last night, I had a little to drink and unexpectedly ran into Ivy Jennings. I called two drivers, but neither dared to drive my car, so I..."

"Who would have thought Ivy drove me to the suburbs when I fell asleep, and when I woke up, it was morning," his tone was innocent.

"Nothing happened all night?" the old man questioned, his authoritative gaze fixed on him. "Search your conscience. Did you do anything to betray your wife and child?"
