Chapter 206: Chapter 206: Grandpa Upholds Justice

Faye Turner walked into the study, sat down at the desk, and soon, her grandfather called. She glanced at the display, guessing what he wanted to ask.

She really didn’t want to worry the old man but didn’t know how to explain.

The ringing continued endlessly.

She composed herself and answered, "Hello, Grandpa." Her voice was as gentle as ever.

"Off work yet, child?" the old man’s concerned greeting came from the other end of the phone, his voice more filled with concern than usual.

"Yes, Grandpa, just got home."

"Faye, tell me, what’s the situation with today’s matter?"

His tone was firm, "I don’t believe you would plagiarize. Tell Grandpa, and he’ll stand up for you!"

"Grandpa, if I say I didn’t copy her, would you believe me?" Faye’s voice was gentle.

"Of course! Why wouldn’t I believe you?"

The old man unconditionally trusted her character and his own judgment. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮

This filled the girl, surrounded by rumors all day, with warmth.

"Thank you, Grandpa." Faye was quite moved, her eyes involuntarily moistening.

"Child, on the road of life, there’s no such thing as perpetual smooth sailing," Grandpa told her, "In this world, everything changes, except for human nature, so never lose your guard against others."

"Sorry, Grandpa, for worrying you."

The old man comforted her a few more words, then said, "Faye, don’t think about anything now. Adrian Lancaster will handle this matter for you."

The girl’s eyes brightened, "Grandpa, did he say anything to you?" An inexplicable warmth also rose in her heart.

"No, it’s Grandpa who wants to say something to him," the old man said displeasedly, "This fellow, a whole day has gone by, and who knows what he’s busy with!"

Faye pursed her lips, her heart sinking. He simply didn’t care about her. How could he possibly help her voluntarily?

It’s good enough she didn’t make him look bad.

"Be good, dear, rest early, take good care of yourself!"

"Okay, Grandpa, don’t blame him. This matter... originally has nothing to do with him; I brought him trouble."

"How can you say that? He’s your husband. He should handle any small or big matters for you. Otherwise, what’s he here for?" Grandpa grumbled, "Watching his wife get bullied is unbearable!"

With that, Grandpa hung up the phone.

Faye was embarrassed and anxious, worried that Grandpa would scold him.

Just then, she heard the sound of the door, and Mrs. Rhodes greeting him.

Adrian Lancaster was back.

Then she heard his phone ringing. He answered quickly and she heard his voice, "Hello, Grandpa."

It seemed like he was walking towards the study, his voice getting farther.

"Adrian Lancaster, what’s going on with you? Such a big thing happened, and you don’t protect your wife?"

On the other end, Grandpa directly questioned, "It’s been a whole day, and you haven’t investigated? Clear your child’s mother’s name?"

"Grandpa..."

"I know you’re busy, but what’s more important than your wife?!" Grandpa angrily scolded him, "Let me tell you, Grandpa’s judgment isn’t wrong! Faye would never do something like plagiarize!"

"Grandpa..."

"Listen to me! Tomorrow the news must be suppressed for me! The investigation’s truth must be made public! Give Faye justice! Otherwise, I won’t forgive you!"

After a round of reprimand and warning, Grandpa hung up.

Adrian Lancaster hadn’t even taken a seat yet, sighed, his brows furrowed. Why won’t they listen to his explanation?

After a while, in the study next door, Faye’s phone rang.

It was Adrian Lancaster calling, which startled her. She glanced at the door, then stared at the display, not answering.

Hanging up the phone, she got up and went to his study door.

Adrian Lancaster’s gaze fell on her, and he said plainly, "Come in and close the door."
