Chapter 186: Chapter 186: At Least See Him Once First

On the second floor of the main villa, in an antique bedroom, there’s a lounge area separated by a screen, two sets of sofas, and by the window there’s a desk with some chairs.

The entire space must be over a hundred square meters wide.

The bed is at least two meters and twenty centimeters large, clearly custom-made, with particularly intricate carvings.

Adrian Lancaster walked into the room and asked her, "Do you want to take a bath tonight?"

"Yes." The girl nodded, "But I didn’t bring any clothes."

"There are some in the wardrobe over there, you can help yourself."

Following the direction of the man’s finger, Faye Turner arrived at the wardrobe. She opened the door, and the automatic lights inside lit up, revealing a row of white shirts, all impeccably ironed.

She glanced back at him.

Adrian Lancaster said, "You can use them as pajamas, pick whichever you like." Anyway, these clothes had been hanging there for who knows how long; he rarely wore them.

With his permission, she reached out for one, "Okay." Then she went into the bathroom.

After taking a bath, Faye Turner came out wearing a men’s shirt, which reached down to her thighs. Although they had been intimate and she was pregnant with his child,

she still felt a bit uneasy seeing him after the shower.

Adrian Lancaster didn’t look at her much, "You can read for a while or sleep, no need to wait for me." With that, he picked up his pajamas and headed to the bathroom.

Watching him close the bathroom door, Faye Turner listened to the sound of water and couldn’t help but let her thoughts drift away.

She quickly went to the window, gently opened the curtain, and looked towards the direction of the backyard.

Only to see the curtains in that room tightly closed, with no lights on, it was so dark it made her feel uneasy.

As if what she had seen in her grandfather’s collection room was just an illusion.

If the crooked-necked man was Adrian Lancaster’s father, then why wasn’t anyone helping with the kind of work like drawing the curtains?

For a critically ill person, shouldn’t there be 24-hour care?

She had too many questions.

How could a neck be crooked like that... as if it were about to break... 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚

Adrian Lancaster came out after his bath, the soft lighting in the room cast upon his tall figure, cloaking him in a layer of gentle radiance.

"Adrian, can you let me see your dad’s medical records?" Faye Turner looked at him, asking directly.

The man met her gaze, candidly saying, "The records are with my mom. As for treating my dad, she no longer holds hope now and is quite resistant."

"Why?" The girl asked, puzzled, piercingly, "Resistant? Doesn’t she wish for him to recover?"

This question caused Adrian Lancaster to blank out for a moment.

The couple’s gaze met...

He thought for a moment and reasoned, "Perhaps she’s accumulated enough disappointment and doesn’t believe there’s any hope anymore. My dad has seen many renowned doctors both domestically and abroad over the years, but his condition hasn’t improved even a little. He’s confined to a wheelchair and doesn’t have the strength to stand up."

Hearing this, the girl couldn’t help but frown, "Only able to sit in a wheelchair?"

"Yes." Adrian Lancaster spoke in a low magnetic voice while drying his hair with a towel, "Moreover, his immune system is different from ours, easily susceptible to bacterial infections, so he has to stay in a sterile room and isn’t in contact with many people. Even my mom has to undergo thorough disinfection before visiting him."

Then... who was the man with the crooked neck drawing the curtains at the window?

Faye Turner didn’t ask, she hadn’t heard of such an illness, "Since his condition is already so severe, why not give it a try? Even if it’s treating a dead horse as if it were alive."

"Are you confident?"

The girl’s gaze was light as she looked at him, "I haven’t even seen him or any medical records, and you’re asking if I’m confident?"

What she meant was, at the very least, she needed to meet him.

Adrian Lancaster took a deep breath, withdrew his gaze, "We’ll see."

From his perspective, despite his father being critically ill since he was five or six, he had hardly enjoyed any paternal love...

But, blood is thicker than water. He deeply yearned for his father to recover, maybe then his mother would be happy, and there’d be a semblance of warmth in this home.

"If your mom disagrees, then what’s your grandfather’s attitude?" Faye Turner asked, "Doesn’t he wish for his son to get better?"
