When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster-Chapter 159: Grandpa’s Heart Is Shattered
On the 22nd floor, Dustin Shepherd rushed into the CEO’s office holding documents.
Adrian Lancaster was a bit surprised, "What are you doing? Is a ghost chasing you?" 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
"The old man is coming to the office today, why hasn’t anyone informed us?" Dustin nervously put down the documents, "He’s already out of the elevator and will be here soon!" Typically, he arranges the reception.
Adrian Lancaster was stunned, "You say Grandpa is here?" His deep eyes were filled with disbelief.
Dustin was surprised, "You don’t know either?"
Just as the words fell, the two of them saw outside the glass wall a familiar figure, holding a cane, looking spirited and somewhat impatiently walking towards the door.
When Grandpa entered, his driver and bodyguards stood at the door.
"Hello, Old Master." Dustin quickly and respectfully greeted, realizing that today’s situation wasn’t good.
"Hello, Grandpa." Adrian, who was about to go to a meeting, saw the slight seriousness and urgency on Grandpa’s face and was quite puzzled.
As if something major had happened.
Grandpa stood in front of Adrian, his cloudy eyes staring unblinkingly at him, unsure of what this guy might be hiding.
"Old Master." Dustin, with a worried heart, quickly asked, "Would you like tea or coffee?"
"You go out." The old man didn’t look at him, speaking sternly, "Close the door behind you."
"..." Dustin’s scalp tingled.
Adrian Lancaster and Grandpa’s gazes met, and the minimalist and elegant office suddenly felt tense.
Of course, Dustin didn’t dare to linger. He helplessly glanced at the CEO, thinking, "You’re on your own," and hurriedly left.
Adrian was racking his brain but remained bewildered.
He had no time to inquire what had happened with Grandpa when the old man threw aside his cane, stepped forward, grabbed his left hand, and directly unbuttoned his sleeve, pulling it up!
The scars that had almost healed lay in Grandpa’s eyesight!
Grandpa’s chest tightened, his eyes widened in shock, and the sight remained startling!!
Adrian was also stunned; he didn’t even have time to dodge.
These old burn scars were seen by Grandpa for the first time.
"What’s going on here?!" The old man tightly held his hand, looking up with trembling eyes, filled with pain and concern!
"Adrian, when did this happen?" Grandpa was emotionally charged, his voice shaking, "How did this happen? How come Grandpa didn’t know about this?? Son!"
"..." How was Adrian supposed to answer? He felt awkward, also somewhat bitter.
But he steadied his emotions, gently taking Grandpa’s hand away, speaking in a soothing tone, "It’s no longer painful, Grandpa, don’t worry."
"How could such injuries not hurt?" The old man’s heart felt like it was about to break, "How painful must it have been at the time? Was it boiled water burns? Scalding water?"
"..." Adrian was pondering a different question, "How... did you know?"
"If it weren’t for Faye telling me, would Grandpa have been kept in the dark for a lifetime?"
A flicker of coldness appeared in Adrian’s eyes.
"Tell Grandpa, was this caused by your mother?!" The old man already had a suspect in mind, unwilling to accept, "Which year did this happen? How could something like this happen?"
"Grandpa..." Adrian calmly buttoned up his cuff, his tone as gentle as usual, "It has nothing to do with anyone. It was my own carelessness as a child."
The old man knew this was the result after healing; before recovery, it must have looked even more horrible, likely burned skin and flesh at the time?
"Adrian..."
"Grandpa." Adrian smiled, not wanting to dwell on the past.
He bent down to pick up the cane and handed it to Grandpa, then held his hand, "You really don’t need to worry. It’s not painful anymore. Even if it was painful at the time, I’ve endured it. Whose life doesn’t have some bumps?"
