Chapter 143: Chapter 143: Faye Turner Feels Sorry for Adrian

Adrian Lancaster steadied his mind, withdrew his gaze, and looked at his arm.

The cool sensation of the ointment, along with her gentle touch, made him momentarily lost again.

"Tomorrow, I have to find another medicine to make a new ointment. After applying it three or four times, you’ll be basically healed."

The girl’s voice was soft and gentle, with a smile on her lips. While finishing up, she glanced at him, "Thank you for trusting me."

Actually, Adrian was shocked by the recovery of his scar when he took a shower today. It was truly miraculous.

After finishing applying the medicine, she gently wrapped it with gauze and tied a secure knot, "It’s done."

"Thank you." Adrian’s voice was not loud, but it was heartfelt.

This also made Faye Turner very happy. She smiled at him again, feeling that the distance between them was closing.

She helped him put down his shirt sleeve and saw him engrossed in his work again. Faye could only pick up the bowl of medicine from the table.

She looked at him with some heartache, "You should rest early, it’s getting late."

"You go to bed early." Adrian didn’t look up, his well-defined fingers continued tapping on the keyboard, "I don’t know how late I’ll be up tonight."

He looked really busy.

The girl stood beside him, not leaving for a long time, just watching him... not believing he always had endless energy.

She saw his struggle and loneliness, his inability to slack off, and his high demands on himself.

After a while, seeing she hadn’t left, Adrian stopped working and looked at her with a deep, puzzled gaze, "What’s up?"

Faye didn’t want to waste his time, so she shook her head and turned to leave.

As his wife, she couldn’t help him with his work pressure or solve conflicts at home.

This made Faye feel quite guilty, feeling that she was of no help.

She could feel his struggle and began to feel pain for him.

After all, he was the father of her child, the closest person who would accompany her till old age. If he collapsed from exhaustion, what would she do?

Lying alone on a wide, soft double bed, Faye couldn’t sleep, her mind filled with images of him working late into the night.

She hadn’t done anything and was already exhausted beyond measure.

And he had arranged and managed all of today’s affairs; wasn’t everyone’s body made of flesh?

Despite being very tired, Faye couldn’t sleep. She lay in bed waiting for him, waiting until one in the morning.

During this time, she looked up a Chinese herb called ’Cistanche’ on her phone, not knowing where to find it.

It was a particularly precious medicinal material, historically, a rare tribute to the imperial court from the Western Marches, with many effects, but generally not available for purchase.

Until she accidentally saw a post on a forum, saying there was a miracle doctor in Argent who could prescribe medicine just by feeling the pulse... and this person could cure various difficult and complicated diseases.

So, Faye thought his home must be well-stocked with medicinal herbs.

She noted down the location.

Finally, the sound of footsteps approached, not long after Faye had put down her phone.

In the darkness, Adrian Lancaster stood by the bed, unbuttoned his shirt, and changed into his pajamas, then gently slipped under the covers.

The air was filled with a faint scent of the herbs from his arm, and Faye asked softly, "Adrian, are you tired?"

She wasn’t asleep yet?

Adrian was slightly surprised, "I’m okay."

"Are you happy?" she asked again softly, staring at the ceiling, as if pondering this question for a long time. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂

This question left Adrian in silence.

And his silence made her heart ache again.
