When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster-Chapter 130: Who Will Get the Precious Invitation?
The next morning.
Faye Turner didn’t travel with Adrian Lancaster as usual, and Adrian didn’t wait for her either.
He seemed to have returned to his old self, treating her with a formal demeanor.
As she walked downstairs, she saw a car parked at the foot of the steps.
The car door opened, and the driver in a suit smiled warmly, "Good morning, ma’am. This car was prepared for you by President Lancaster. From today on, I’m responsible for your transportation." 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
Faye Turner smiled slightly, "Alright, thank you for your effort."
"Here’s my business card. If you need transportation, feel free to call me anytime. I’m available 24/7."
"Alright, thank you." Faye Turner walked down the steps and approached him, "What’s your name?"
"My surname is Lane, you can call me Uncle Lane."
"Alright, Uncle Lane, thank you for your effort." She bent down and got into the car.
Uncle Lane closed the car door for her and quickly returned to the driver’s seat, starting the car and heading toward the company.
Upon entering the design department’s big office, it was bustling inside. Everyone was talking about one thing—the design event tonight.
"President Lancaster is being too stingy, right? How come there are only three spots? Director Jennings will definitely go, so there’s only two left!"
"Our company is the host, and there are only three invitations? There should be at least five or six, right? This is just too fair!"
"This can only mean that the event is high calibre, truly attracting top figures."
"I’ve heard that many foreign designers are coming; they’ll arrive at noon today, and arrangements have already been made to pick them up."
"This kind of occasion is the best chance to get exposure! But unfortunately, security is strict. Without an invitation, you can’t get in at all."
"Right now, I’m just concerned about who among us will get the last two invitations in our department!"
"When it comes to performance, there are more than two outstanding people, at least five or six are neck and neck! They’re taking awards left and right!"
"You just have to rely on luck!"
"No, maybe it’s about connections too!"
Everyone chatted eagerly, full of excitement, even though they knew their chance of getting an invitation was slim, they couldn’t resign to others getting it.
In the midst of this chatter, Faye Turner walked to her workstation and sat down.
Serena Sutton, sitting nearby in a light blue fitted dress, looked like a princess sitting straight. She seemed serious as she applied hand cream, with a faintly confident smile on her face.
She was the daughter of President Lancaster’s aunt’s best friend!
Director Jennings was aware of her background!
Plus, she had award-winning works before joining Prestige Group; she wasn’t just a pretty face!
She had a standout appearance, better representing the company!
Serena Sutton wasn’t worried about who else would get an invitation because she was sure she would get one.
Soon, Nancy Jennings walked into the office, and all eyes fell on her, the room instantly falling silent.
"Serena, make sure to keep the invitation for tonight’s design event safe! Be at the venue by six-thirty p.m. sharp. The specific location will be sent to your phone!"
"Thank you, Director!" The girl happily stood up and rushed forward, reaching out to take it.
Not to mention, the invitation design was quite impressive! Holding it felt substantial, with gilded edges, thoughtfully crafted, quite weighty!
Everyone cast their eyes on Serena Sutton, filled with envy, jealousy, and disdain.
"Jack!" Nancy Jennings called out crisply.
Victor Peterson, who had a new nose stud, stood up. Nancy Jennings walked towards him with the last invitation, "This is for you, cherish this opportunity for learning and exchange!"
He hadn’t expected this; in terms of design performance, Danni’s level was above his.
"Alright, thank you, Director Jennings." He snapped back to reality and quickly reached out to take it.
Clearly, Nancy Jennings did not want a war between women, so she let the man take it.
Besides, Jack’s creative performance wasn’t bad.
After Director Jennings left, Serena Sutton asked curiously, "Aren’t you Victor Peterson? Why choose a foreign name?"
"Personal preference."
"Hmph." The girl chuckled.
"What are you laughing at?" Jack couldn’t stand the disdain, "You, as a connection insider, feel a sense of superiority, is that it?"
