When Love Turns the Tables: The Mysterious Husband's Chase-Chapter 758: True Feelings Given in Vain (8)
With her long hair tied into a ponytail, Jiayu wore an outfit Mu Ke prepared for her: a white turtleneck sweater paired with a black woolen skirt. It was a simple and elegant ensemble, and Jiayu really liked it. Although the sweater had a turtleneck, it was a loose-fitting design with sleeves resembling slightly puffed sleeves, giving her a more youthful appearance.
If she carried a backpack, no one would think it out of place for Jiayu to pose as a new university student.
As she opened the door and stepped out, she immediately smelled a faint aroma of eggs. Mu Ke was standing on the balcony talking on the phone, and Jiayu didn’t disturb him, instead, she sat down quietly at the dining table.
She took a sip of milk and bit into the soft bread, both still warm, comforting her stomach.
Jiayu instinctively looked towards the person on the balcony. Mu Ke was standing sideways, sunlight pouring over him, his cotton loungewear exuding a sense of comfort and ease.
Jiayu had never experienced something like this before, being woken up by a man in the morning, and then coming out after washing up to find a warm breakfast ready.
Unlike the food once prepared by household servants, Mu Ke’s breakfast was not complicated, but it gave a sense of warmth.
Soon, Mu Ke finished his phone call and came over. Jiayu had already eaten most of her breakfast, but Mu Ke ate faster than she did, and they both finished at the same time.
"Give me five minutes, and we’ll head to the hospital."
"Okay."
It was still very early. Jiayu thought that when they went out, she’d buy some porridge and buns for Xu Qingru, who liked them.
However, when Mu Ke came out after changing clothes, he brought a thermos from the kitchen.
"What’s this...?"
"Porridge and buns made this morning."
Jiayu fell silent. How was he always so considerate?
Well, he had always been very thoughtful.
"Since you made porridge and buns, why didn’t we eat them? Making fried eggs and toast is so much more trouble."
As they entered the elevator, Jiayu muttered softly, and Mu Ke nodded slightly: "Hmm, you had porridge yesterday."
Jiayu: "..."
So, was he giving her a change of taste?
Uh, didn’t he find it bothersome?
Thinking like this seemed a bit like being ungrateful, but in fact, it made her really happy inside.
The car quickly stopped at the hospital parking lot. They both opened the doors and got out. Mu Ke handed the thermos to Jiayu: "Xiao Yu, I have a surgery later, it won’t take long. You go to the ward first."
Jiayu nodded: "Go ahead, I’m fine here."
She was not a child. Before Mu Ke was around, she handled everything herself without any issue.
Jiayu took the thermos upstairs while Mu Ke headed to another building.
Xu Qingru was already awake. Seeing Jiayu come alone, Xu Qingru paused and asked: "Where’s Little Mu?"
"He has a surgery to tend to."
Xu Qingru nodded: "Of course, you can’t expect him to always revolve around us. Being a doctor is not easy."
Xu Qingru sighed as Jiayu took the buns from the top layer of the thermos and poured a bowl of porridge: "Mom, have breakfast first. The doctor will come to check on you later."
Unlike private hospitals, City First Hospital was busier, and by around ten AM, the corridor outside was bustling with people. Although the hospital required silence, it was impossible with so many people around.
Knowing her mother liked peace and quiet, Jiayu, after consulting with the doctors to ensure Xu Qingru’s foot injury wasn’t serious and just required resting, decided to discharge her.
