When Love Turns the Tables: The Mysterious Husband's Chase-Chapter 757: Love Given to the Wrong Person (7)
Inescapably, the image of herself just getting up appeared in her mind.
Mu Ke has mild obsessive-compulsive disorder, and combined with the precision required for his profession as a doctor, his biological clock is always very punctual, today being no exception.
At the time he was supposed to wake up, he immediately opened his eyes, but today, there was something different.
Mu Ke slightly turned his head and saw the person lying beside him. Before they fell asleep yesterday, he and Jiayu were at a certain distance from each other, not touching.
But just now, when he woke up, Jiayu was right next to him, very close, with even a few strands of her long hair resting on his pillow.
The woman lay on her side, with most of her face buried in the pillow, eyes tightly closed, like a sleeping baby.
The reason Jiayu doesn’t show her age is partly because she has good skin that is radiant and elastic. Another reason is her slightly doll-like face—though not the standard doll face—combined with her previously decisive demeanor, usually giving off a mature vibe.
However, stripped of that aura, she sleeps quietly like now.
Mu Ke felt a bit dazed, as if she was still that girl skipping PE class to work on competition problems in the stands.
The sizzling sound hit his ears, and a burnt smell filled his nose. Mu Ke snapped back to reality, quickly turned off the fire, and looked at the egg in the pan, still raw on one side and burnt on the other.
Great, it was the first time in his life that Mu Ke had burnt an egg.
His thin lips couldn’t help but curl into a slight smile. He tossed the egg into the trash can, fried two more, paired them with toasted bread and milk, and took out two oranges from the fridge to slice before heading back to wake Jiayu.
In the room, Jiayu was still sleeping. Before her face was half-buried in the pillow; now, her entire face was buried.
Mu Ke frowned slightly. Wasn’t she afraid of suffocating?
Sitting on the bed, Mu Ke reached out to turn Jiayu’s body over, so she faced upwards and gently arranged her hair.
The still-sleeping person seemed annoyed by the disturbance, reaching out and slapping Mu Ke on the wrist with a "smack."
Mu Ke was wearing a watch, with a hard metal strap.
Jiayu’s slap landed her pinky directly on the strap, causing immediate pain, waking her up. She abruptly opened her eyes to meet Mu Ke’s gaze full of coolness but with a tenderness reserved just for her, Jiayu.
Mu Ke held a trace of a smile at the corners of his mouth, gently holding her hand and softly massaging her pinky.
Jiayu was fully awake; the pain from a moment ago had already vanished.
"Want to get up for breakfast? Or sleep a bit longer?"
Being woken up by a man felt subtly strange. Jiayu instinctively shrank back under the covers to hide half her face, her big eyes glancing around before muttering, "Get up."
"Alright, I’ll wait for you outside."
Mu Ke got up and left, giving her plenty of time and space to change and wash up.
When the door closed, Jiayu lay in bed for another two seconds before getting up to wash and change.
At Mu Ke’s place, there were skincare products for her and freshly prepared clothes for her to change into. Besides the decor, Jiayu felt like she was at her own home because even the toothbrush and towel were exactly like her own.
Once she was ready, looking into the mirror, a thought crossed Jiayu’s mind, and she took out a hair tie from her bag to tie up her long hair.
