Sheng Jiayu walked out of the airport, wrapped her down jacket tighter around herself. When she left, she had only told her mother. On her return, she hadn’t even informed her mother, so naturally, no one would come to pick her up.

Sheng Jiayu headed towards the taxis, but before she could take a step, she heard two short honks. Immediately, the door of a black car less than a meter in front of her slowly opened.

Mu Ke, dressed in a black wool coat, appeared taller and more slender. His eyes quietly fell on Sheng Jiayu, paused for two seconds, then walked over and opened the passenger door for her: "Get in."

There’s still doubt in Sheng Jiayu’s eyes, but Mu Ke obviously didn’t want to continue the topic and kept driving silently.

What he meant by coincidence was that he happened to have a good friend who was a senior executive at the airport, happened to be very close with him, and today happened to have no surgeries, so it was a coincidence.

The car entered the city and finally came to a steady stop below Sheng Jiayu’s apartment building.

Mu Ke didn’t move, and the car door was still locked. Sheng Jiayu looked at him, the light inside the car was dim, but Mu Ke’s eyes seemed exceptionally bright in that darkness.

Sheng Jiayu froze slightly, not speaking.

"Because of that night?"

Before she could speak, Mu Ke interrupted her, his thin lips slightly parted below his tall nose: "I know you’re avoiding me, and I know why you’re avoiding me. I won’t force you, you don’t have to keep avoiding me like this. In the future, if you don’t want to see me, just tell me directly. I’ll disappear until you’re willing to see me."

After Mu Ke finished speaking, Sheng Jiayu heard a "click," the sound of the car door unlocking.

"It’s late, go up and rest early."

Mu Ke’s gaze fell on Sheng Jiayu’s forehead where the wound had healed. His lips slightly curled upwards.

Sheng Jiayu had no luggage, she opened the door and got out, slowly walking towards her apartment. Until she got on the elevator, she could still clearly see Mu Ke’s car parked outside, showing no signs of leaving.

She pressed the button for her floor, watching the numbers of each floor light up, her heart felt inexplicably uneasy.

She went upstairs, opened the door, and didn’t rush to turn on the lights. The room was pitch black, with only the light from the hallway outside casting on the entrance.

The entire place felt cold and distant.
