When His Nauseous Sweetheart Frowns, the Tycoon's Family Takes Turns Pampering Her-Chapter 62: Luna Axton, My Wife
Blaze Fairchild sat in his car, watching as Luna Axton was about to come out.
But he was suddenly called back inside by Ethan Frost.
He pushed open the car door and walked into Concordia Medical Hall.
In the courtyard, Ethan Frost handed a packed bag of medicine to Luna Axton.
"The Prepared Rehmannia Root just arrived. This is the new batch of medicine. Take it with you, and it’ll save me a trip."
Luna Axton’s eyes sparkled as she looked at Ethan Frost, her expression full of gratitude. "Okay, thank you, Assistant Frost."
Just as she finished speaking, footsteps approached.
"Ethan." Blaze Fairchild’s level voice sounded from behind them.
Ethan Frost smiled warmly. "Ian, you’re here."
Luna Axton lowered her gaze to the black leather shoes beside her. ’Why is Blaze Fairchild here?’
The next second, she felt a weight on her waist as a hand wrapped around it. Blaze Fairchild then took the bag of medicine from her other hand.
Luna Axton wasn’t used to such intimate gestures in front of others.
The moment she moved, trying to put a little distance between herself and Blaze Fairchild...
...Blaze Fairchild tightened his large hand, pulling her back into the crook of his arm until even their shoes were touching.
Luna Axton bit her lip and stopped her futile resistance.
Without batting an eye, he asked Ethan Frost, "Are your parents and grandfather here?"
Ethan’s amused gaze naturally landed on Blaze Fairchild’s hand. Men understand other men all too well.
’What does Ian take me for?’
’Boldly wrapping an arm around his wife’s waist right in front of me to declare his claim.’
"They are."
"Thank you for making so many trips for my mother-in-law’s illness. Since Luna and I are both here today, it’s a good opportunity to formally thank your father and grandfather as well."
Ethan Frost gestured openly. "This way." He took the lead and showed them the way.
Blaze Fairchild’s hand was still wrapped around Luna Axton’s waist. She looked up at him with a pleading expression.
She nudged his side with her elbow, signaling for him to let go.
Blaze Fairchild gave her a deep, inscrutable look for a moment before speaking as if nothing was amiss. "What’s wrong?"
Hearing this, Luna Axton frowned slightly. "It’s hard for me to walk like this."
"Why is it hard to walk?"
"Your legs are long. I can’t keep up with your pace."
"I can walk slower." A smile flickered in Blaze Fairchild’s eyes. He insisted on keeping his hand on her waist, though he did shorten his stride a bit.
Having finished their work for the day, Theodore Frost, Mason Frost, and May Ford were drinking tea in the break room.
Seeing Ethan Frost lead them in, they all stood up to make room.
"Blaze, Luna, come and sit."
May Ford and Mason Frost each brought over a small stool. May thoughtfully handed Luna Axton a bottle of warm coconut juice.
Only after everyone was seated did Blaze Fairchild speak.
"Grandpa Frost, Uncle, Aunt, and Ethan, I brought Luna here to thank you all. We’re so grateful for all the trouble you’ve taken over my mother-in-law’s case."
He raised his teacup, his sincerity evident. "I’ll offer this tea in place of wine. Thank you all."
As he finished speaking, Blaze Fairchild drained his teacup in one go.
Luna Axton watched in a daze, momentarily unsure of what she should do.
Theodore Frost smiled, a gratified look on his face. "Look how nervous you’ve made Luna."
"Blaze, seeing you with a family of your own now... it helps ease this old man’s guilty conscience."
Theodore Frost’s aged eyes suddenly reddened, glistening with unshed tears.
"Back then, Adriana was driving me to the hospital... If we had been just ten minutes faster, the outcome would have been completely different. I shouldn’t have been so fixated on adjusting a patient’s prescription by one or two herbs. I should have understood my priorities."
Adriana.
The Frost family’s youngest daughter.
Hearing that name again—one that sounded just like her own mother’s—Luna Axton’s heart gave a slight pang.
Her eyes narrowed, her expression thoughtful.
Blaze Fairchild was silent for a moment. "Grandpa Frost, it was my mother’s fate. It had nothing to do with you. Please don’t blame yourself."
Theodore Frost patted Blaze Fairchild’s shoulder, the simple gesture conveying a world of unspoken emotions.
"I haven’t had a chance to formally introduce her to everyone yet. This is Luna Axton, my wife."
May Ford smiled gently. "We’ve heard Ethan mention it many times. He said Ian’s wife is a promising student of traditional Chinese medicine."
"During the interview the other morning, I saw how sweet and well-behaved she was. I could tell right away she was a sensible, kind-hearted girl."
Women were always better at handling these kinds of situations.
Luna Axton said shyly, "I had no idea that the person I asked for directions in the courtyard was Assistant Frost’s mother."
It was only then that she realized May Ford was Assistant Ethan Frost’s mother.
"Oh, you silly girl. You’re married to Blaze now, so you should call us Uncle and Aunt, just like he does. Our families are very close."
"Okay, Aunt."
The others didn’t speak, but they were all smiling warmly.
As elders, they were genuinely happy to see Blaze Fairchild married and starting a family.
The group chatted for a while longer before Blaze Fairchild and Luna Axton took their leave.
On the ride back, Luna Axton and Blaze Fairchild sat in the back seat.
She stared out the window with a blank expression, wishing the car would get to Fairchild Estate sooner.
"Were you busy today?" Blaze Fairchild broke the silence.
"Not busy."
’It was fulfilling.’
Luna Axton felt as if she had found something she could completely immerse herself in, something that made her forget all her troubles.
She didn’t feel tired at all. In fact, because she enjoyed it so much, the time seemed to fly by.
"Then why didn’t you have time to answer your phone?"
His reminder made her realize her phone had been in her coat pocket all day. She had taken off the coat and hung it on the wall when she changed into her white lab coat.
Luna Axton belatedly pulled out her phone. The screen was filled with several text messages and missed calls from Blaze Fairchild.
"Sorry, I didn’t have my phone on me. Did you need something?"
"Just wanted to ask what you had for lunch." ’He had originally planned to take her out for Thai food, since she’d been craving spicy things lately.’ 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
"I ate in the Concordia Medical Hall cafeteria. I had a meat dish, a vegetable dish, a soup, and an orange. It was nutritious enough."
She was explaining because she didn’t want any special treatment.
Blaze Fairchild was a man who would absolutely have Mrs. Creed deliver meals to her.
"As long as you ate well, that’s fine. Dr. Miller did say not to eat too richly during the second trimester. A balanced diet is more important."
Luna Axton was a little surprised to hear this. He hadn’t made any arrangements to the contrary.
’Does that mean...’
’Forget it. No point in guessing. I’ll just ask him directly.’
"You’re not against me doing my internship at Concordia Medical Hall anymore?"
Blaze Fairchild’s cool fingers lifted her chin, forcing her to meet his gaze. "I have conditions."
