When His Nauseous Sweetheart Frowns, the Tycoon's Family Takes Turns Pampering Her-Chapter 139: Going Home
Blaze Fairchild’s words helped Luna Axton relax a little.
Hand in hand, they stood waiting at the exit.
Before long, the sound of footsteps echoed from the VIP passageway.
CLICK, CLACK...
The sound of high heels on the tile floor grew clearer, and Luna’s heart leaped into her throat again.
She was about to see her mother. This was also the first time she would be meeting her biological father since he learned of her identity.
It was impossible not to be nervous.
A reflection appeared on the polished floor.
Following it, a staff member in a red uniform appeared, leading the way.
Three steps behind her, Luna saw her mother walking side-by-side with Russell Frost.
Her mother looked gentle and radiant, the slight curve of her lips a picture of happiness. Russell walked with a steady gait, his demeanor calm and refined.
Seeing them together, Luna felt as if she was seeing a scene from her childhood dreams.
The warm, secure feeling of having a mother and father by her side surfaced in her heart.
In the moment she was lost in thought, they had already arrived in front of her.
"Sweetheart." Jenna Axton joyfully pulled her into a hug.
"Mom." Luna’s movements were cautious; she only gently wrapped her arms around her mother’s waist.
She could feel that her mother, in addition to her usual poised and sophisticated air, now had a hint of playfulness about her.
Russell Frost extended his hand to shake Blaze Fairchild’s. Everything that needed to be said passed between them in a single look.
The mother and daughter separated, and Jenna Axton raised an eyebrow at Russell. "Your daughter."
Luna’s heart pounded. As smart as she was, faced with this situation, she could only stare blankly at Russell, unable to think of a single appropriate thing to do.
Russell opened his arms and embraced her as well. "My darling girl, Dad is surprised, but even happier."
Darling girl.
Luna’s eyes suddenly reddened, and a stinging sensation rushed to her nose.
"Dad." The moment she spoke, tears streamed down her face.
That one word, "Dad," left Russell feeling overwhelmed with joy.
This was his daughter. He would protect her and give her the best of everything in the world.
"Dad’s here now. Nothing bad will happen."
He knew Jenna had run back to Kensing to ensure his career path remained smooth.
He also knew that kind-hearted Luna would surely be worried about these things too.
A child raised solely by her mother was bound to be a bit more reserved and anxious at heart.
It was no fault of either mother or daughter; it was the result of his absence from their lives as a husband and a father.
Now that he was back, he would take care of everything.
Mother and daughter just needed to stay by his side, and their family of three could live a good life together.
Compared to the twenty-three years he had lost, everything else seemed insignificant.
"I know, Dad." Luna’s tears were absorbed by his shirt as she answered, her voice choked with sobs.
’So a father’s embrace is broader and stronger than a mother’s—firmer and more reassuring. I guess this is what they mean when they say a father’s love is like a mountain. It must be this sense of security that comes from his gentleness and strength.’
Seeing Luna cry, Blaze desperately wanted to pull her into his arms and comfort her. But with her mother and father beside her now, she certainly didn’t need him to console her.
He simply said, "Mom, Uncle, let’s get in the car first."
Russell Frost returned Luna to Jenna Axton’s side, then put an arm around Blaze Fairchild’s shoulders as they walked toward the car parked by the curb.
"Luna has already called me ’Dad.’ It’s about time you changed how you address me, too."
Blaze smiled. "Yes, Dad."
Russell lowered his voice. "After Luna has the baby, I’ll hold a proper wedding for you two."
At the mention of a wedding, Blaze glanced at Luna, who was a few steps away whispering with her mother. He decided not to hide his own plans.
"I was thinking the same thing. The wedding dress, the shoes, the rings—I’m already making the arrangements."
Seeing how thoughtful he was, Russell was even more pleased with him. He said sincerely, "You’re better than both of us fathers."
To this, Blaze offered no comment.
He was protecting both his child and his wife, keeping them safely by his side.
Blaze drove himself, with Russell in the passenger seat. Luna and Jenna sat in the back.
Jenna held Luna’s hand tightly. She took a little red booklet out of her handbag, squeezed her daughter’s hand, and gestured for her to look.
When Luna saw the marriage certificate, her heart skipped a beat. She was surprised, but at the same time, overjoyed for her mother.
Even after so many years, her mother’s love hadn’t changed.
No one knew if happiness or obstacles lay ahead, but her mother had chosen to take this step.
Luna tilted her head and leaned on Jenna’s shoulder, whispering in admiration, "Mom, you’re so brave."
Jenna raised an eyebrow. "This is who your mother has always been."
"That’s wonderful. I’m proud of your courage, Mom."
Jenna ruffled her daughter’s shiny black hair, which had grown a little longer. "Your dad and I will be there in a bit. You just sit tight, sweetheart."
"Okay." Luna knew that as soon as her parents returned to Valoria, they were heading straight for the Frost family estate. They wanted to deliver this news to the Frosts in person.
From what she had observed, aside from Theodore Frost, who hardly ever mentioned her mother, when Mason Frost and May Ford spoke of her, their words were always tinged with a mix of heartache, worry, and confusion.
’I really don’t know what’s going to happen next.’
The car drove closer to the city center, passing through a long, two-lane lane lined with osmanthus trees, before stopping in front of a three-story, red Western-style house.
Blaze parked the car against the courtyard wall, and the four of them got out.
The street was nearly empty, and the osmanthus trees swayed gently in the breeze.
Sunlight filtered through the gaps in the leaves, casting dappled shadows on the clean stone path as time seemed to flow quietly by. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
"This street is called Sweetbriar Lane," Jenna said, noticing her daughter staring at the street. Knowing Luna was interested in things with a sense of history, she began to explain.
"It’s an old street, over fifty years old. Every single bluestone brick we’re standing on has a number. These osmanthus trees are protected, too. When they bloom, their fragrance fills the entire street, and police patrol to make sure no one picks the flowers."
Luna nodded in understanding, her gaze shifting to the Western-style house before them.
Its red exterior exuded a sense of profound history, a place that seemed to nurture greatness.
Russell Frost rang the doorbell. From within the courtyard walls came Ethan Frost’s happy voice, "It really is Uncle! Dad, open the door, quick!"
As he spoke, the door swung open.
Luna and Jenna instinctively tightened their grip on each other’s hands.
They exchanged a smile, each seeing the nervousness in the other’s eyes.
Russell turned and took Jenna’s hand. "Let’s go. We’re home."
Luna let go of her mother’s hand. She couldn’t accompany her for what was to come next.
Her mother had been away from the Frost family for many years. She owed them all an explanation, and Luna could only wait.
