Chapter 178: Chapter 178: My Plan... Is To Completely Wipe Them Out!

Two Days Later,

Reon moved silently through the depths of the forest, the rustling canopy above filtering golden strands of light down to the moss-covered floor.

In front of him hovered the translucent Digital Mini Map, flickering faintly with glowing markers.

’I stumbled upon something... interesting when I was going through Wei Lin’s Spatial Pouch,’ he thought, his expression darkening.

His eyes narrowed.

’That bastard was an adventurer in name only—he was actually a member of the Iron Howl Bandits.’

The name alone was enough to stir unease in the hearts of mortals across Ninzhou County.

Iron Howl Bandits—a notorious criminal group operating throughout Ninzhou County.

Infamous for their vile deeds, they were known to abduct underage girls and boys, ambush rookie adventurers entering the forest for the first time, raid isolated villages, and vanish into the shadows long before help could arrive.

But unlike ordinary brigands, they weren’t just a ragtag group of thieves—they were cultivators... rogue cultivators.

Rumors claimed their influence stretched across the entire county, with scattered outposts hidden along the outskirts of Greenhood Forest—near towns, cities, and villages.

Their main base, however, was said to lie deep within the forest’s heart.

Worse still, they were believed to be backed by corrupted nobles... and possibly even supported by branch sects of established cultivation sects.

’I found the badge of the Iron Howl Bandits inside Wei Lin’s Spatial Pouch, along with detailed information about their activities.’

’Apparently, he was a high-ranking member, secretly aiding them while posing as an adventurer.’

’What’s even more interesting is that my Disciple Duty is to eliminate the Iron Howl Bandits near Qinghe City.’

’But my plan... is to wipe this entire group of bastards off the face of the world.’

His jaw tightened, a dark storm swirling in his gaze.

’Because what those fuckers are doing... is absolutely disgusting.’

A painful memory flickered.

’And... she was one of their victims.’

Reon came to a slow halt, his boots crunching softly against the forest floor.

’According to the map, they should be close...’ he thought, eyes scanning the thick canopy above. ’They must be hiding behind some sort of Illusion Formation. Looks like I’ll have to sniff them out myself.’

’Hmm... but without the exact location of the formation, I can’t activate my constitution’s technique properly.’

Suddenly—

"Kyaaaaaaaa!"

A piercing scream echoed from behind him—a young girl’s voice.

His brows furrowed.

’A scream? From a girl... this deep in the forest?’

Reon turned and calmly walked toward the source of the sound.

He didn’t rush to help—instead, he stopped beside a tree and watched silently from the shadows.

Up ahead, a girl who looked to be around thirteen or fourteen, with short black hair grazing her neck, was being attacked by three Horned Rabbits—small yet aggressive beasts, each nearly a meter tall.

Though ordinary and weak by cultivator standards, its presence this deep in the forest felt strangely out of place.

While no real threat to cultivators, it was a different story for mortals.

The young girl’s clothes were torn, her body smeared with blood—she looked utterly battered and barely conscious.

’Horned Rabbits...? That’s such a weak beast... in a place this deep in the forest? Something’s off.’

He scanned the trees around him carefully.

Sure enough, five men were hiding in the branches. They hadn’t even bothered to use proper stealth techniques.

’Hmm... I see. So that’s how it is. They’ve already noticed me,’ Reon mused, his eyes narrowing. ’Fucking disgusting scums... using a child to bait an adventurer.’

A faint smirk tugged at his lips.

’Should I play along and fall into their little trap... just as they’ve planned?’

Reon burst onto the scene, leaping into view as if he’d come running after hearing the scream.

With a swift motion, he summoned his sword, its edge gleaming faintly.

"Don’t worry, I’ll save you!" he shouted, charging toward the injured girl.

"Huh...?" the bloodied girl looked up, startled, her short black hair matted against her cheeks.

’I need to make them think I’m just a rookie adventurer—barely managing against a few Horned Rabbits.’ Reon thought as he closed the distance.

"Take this!" he yelled, slashing down at one of the Horned Rabbits. It screeched as the blade cut clean through.

The other two rabbits hissed in alarm and sprang back, their red eyes locked on Reon.

"Where are you running, you bastards? Come on—how dare you bully such a cute kid!" he shouted, lunging after them.

Responding to the provocation, the two beasts launched themselves at him.

Reon gritted his teeth, blocking one with effort and pushing it back.

But the second rabbit struck fast—its horn pierced deep into the thigh of his left leg.

"AAAHH!!"

Reon cried out as blood poured from his wounded leg.

He lashed out with a powerful kick from his right leg, sending the rabbit flying through the air.

"B-Brother! Are you okay?" the girl asked, her already injured body trembling as she watched helplessly.

"D-Don’t worry... I’ll handle them," Reon said with a strained smile, sword still in hand.

Up in the trees, hidden above them—

"Hahaha! Look at that idiot struggling with three Horned Rabbits! Even an E-Rank adventurer could take them down. He’s probably just an F-Rank weakling," one of the bandits snorted.

"F-Rank? Seriously? No way," a cautious voice muttered behind him. "Anyone who made it this deep into the forest should be at least B-Rank."

"Tin Lin, you’re always too paranoid," another scoffed. "You think a B-Ranker would get injured by three Horned Rabbits?"

"Y-Yeah... that’s true," Tin Lin muttered uncertainly.

"Maybe he’s just some lost rookie who wandered in too far by dumb luck," someone else said with a laugh.

"And look at his hand—he’s wearing a Spatial Ring. That means he’s either from a noble family or a sect. He’s definitely loaded."

The group’s leader, crouched on a thick branch, smirked coldly.

"Heh, whatever the case, let’s just watch. Even if he’s got some strength, those rabbits we sent after this slave girl will wear him down.

Once he’s worn down enough... we’ll ambush him, strip him of everything he’s got, then drag him back to the base and sell him off with the other slaves."

"Yes, Big Brother," the group whispered in unison, eyes gleaming with anticipation.

Back on the ground—

After a brief but grueling struggle, Reon finally stood over the slain rabbits, blood still dripping from his wounded leg.

He limped toward the girl.

"Are you alright, little one?" he asked gently.

"I-I’m fine... thank you," she replied, lowering her head—but guilt flickered in her eyes.

’That look... is she feeling guilty?’ Reon narrowed his gaze.

"What’s your name? What’re you doing this deep in the forest?" he asked.

"My name is Mei Lin. Thank you for saving me..." she hesitated. "But... please, you need to get away from here."

’Mei Lin...? That name...’

Suddenly—

Whoosh!

A shadow fell over him.

From behind, a heavy strike came, aimed straight at his head.
