S-Rank Harem: I Became My Character with Extra Control Skill-Chapter 43: Debt - The Heroine vs The Demon King’s Son
After Ryan finally reunited with his companions,
Helen was engaged in a one-on-one battle against Solaris.
Even though Solaris had been fighting Helen for a long time, floor 69 was still standing, which was already surprising considering the level of both fighters.
The atmosphere in the room changed the moment Helen said she would fight seriously.
’While it’s true she wanted me to watch her fight, it’s also true that I’m particularly interested in seeing a Rank S level battle.’
Solaris, standing in front of Helen, moved to start his attack.
It was hard to follow the exchange with the eyes.
Solaris moved at such high speed that he could only be seen when he was stopped by the clash of his weapons against Helen’s sword.
The exchange of thrusts continued for a couple of minutes.
The sparks flying from their weapons upon impact and the sound they produced were what Ryan could follow best with his senses.
’This is insane. I can barely see anything.’
And in the middle of all that conflict, Helen was smiling.
It wasn’t the smile of someone enduring the fight. It was the smile of someone who had been waiting months for something like this.
Mirian noticed it too.
"Since Helen ascended to Rank S, she hasn’t had a good fight that forced her to test her new power," she commented, without taking her eyes off the battle. "That’s why she insisted on fighting alone."
"And you’re not worried about her fighting alone?" Karol replied. "An archdemon who is the son of a Demon King isn’t the same as an ordinary archdemon."
"I don’t need to inspect Solaris to know that." Mirian rested her elbows on her knees. "His aura is very noticeable. He is very strong, yes."
She paused briefly.
"But I trust the power Helen has now. And if at any moment I see her life is truly in danger, then I’ll intervene."
’You say that, but you were sleeping soundly earlier.’
From the center of the room, in the middle of an exchange of blows, Solaris turned his head toward Mirian for a fraction of a second.
"Wow," Mirian murmured. "He has really good hearing. I didn’t expect him to hear me from over there."
"Don’t get distracted," said Helen, and attacked.
Her thrust passed just centimeters from Solaris’s shoulder. He took a step back to dodge it.
"The speed at which you dodge is really annoying," Helen grumbled as she returned to her guard stance.
Solaris didn’t reply immediately. Instead, he extended a hand toward the ground.
Columns of fire began erupting from the floor directly under Helen’s feet, one after another in rapid succession. Helen jumped backward, then sideways, then backward again, dodging each eruption with different movements.
"You react well," Solaris commented with a smile.
"Is that all you’ve got?" Helen responded sharply.
"Of course not."
The sphere that appeared above Solaris wasn’t gradual. It simply existed, enormous, illuminating the entire room with an orange glow before falling straight toward Helen.
Karol involuntarily took a step back.
"So much power..." she murmured to herself.
When the sphere was only a couple of meters away from hitting Helen,
she jumped toward it and activated her skill in mid-air.
"Straight Repulse," Helen pronounced as she swung her sword forward with great force.
The fire sphere split into two halves that dispersed to the sides. With the same momentum from her jump, Helen passed through the center of that opening of flames and emerged on the other side with her sword aimed straight at Solaris.
Solaris crossed his daggers and stopped the thrust.
Now they were face to face.
Helen stepped on his foot with all her body weight, immobilizing him for an instant, and delivered a headbutt directly to his forehead.
Solaris flew several meters back and landed flat on his back.
Karol blinked in surprise.
"She hit him square on!"
Ryan and Mirian continued watching in silence.
Solaris got up slowly, rubbing his forehead with the back of his hand.
"Damn it. I didn’t expect that." His voice carried more irritation than pain. "Aren’t swordsmen supposed to fight with honor? That was pretty dirty, wasn’t it?"
Helen let out a short laugh.
"Dirty? Says one of the demons who uses teleportation runes to escape every time he’s in trouble."
Helen shook her sword several times, looking at Solaris threateningly.
"You want to run away after just one hit? Huh? Little baby of the Demon King?"
Solaris’s brow furrowed. His expression grew more intense.
But he didn’t reply.
The daggers flew out of his hands and began spinning in the air in front of him as he pulled out a scroll with a movement Ryan barely managed to follow.
’Can a demon really use that?’ he thought immediately.
"Ice Prison." Solaris pronounced.
The ice cube formed around Helen before she could close the distance, completely encasing her. At the same instant, Solaris grabbed the flying daggers and charged forward.
"Fire Dragon Cascade."
The projectiles shot out in waves toward the ice cube. One. Three. Eight.
Each one fell directly at Helen’s position inside the cube. She jumped from side to side, dodging them.
Sixteen. Eighteen.
Helen began to laugh as she dodged.
Twenty.
She dodged them with ease.
Helen was now in front of the wall of the cube. With two swift thrusts, she opened a door and stepped out of the ice prison.
She walked toward Solaris through the scattered ice debris.
"That was entertaining," Helen commented as she kept advancing.
"Solaris’s fire attacks are impressive, and Helen is dodging them like it’s nothing. I’m not sure who the real monster is here," Karol commented while watching.
Ryan and Mirian were observing carefully, waiting to see what the next move from either of them would be.
However, Solaris suddenly seemed distracted.
He placed a finger to his temple.
"What!? Are you sure about that? Why are they here?"
Helen stopped.
"Who are you talking to?"
Mirian watched him attentively.
"Telepathy?"
Karol spoke before anyone else could.
"If that’s the case, he must be talking to the dragon he tamed."
Ryan looked at Solaris without saying anything.
’So he’s talking to Irnina...’
