I took a sip of the cocktail that Ragbar made for me, enjoying the taste of it.

Mmmm~ Yep, no offence, Ragbar, your wife makes better tasting cocktails than you. But his flairs are seriously cool though. There was a trick he was doing where he did the 'lining up the shot glasses and pouring into them with stacked shakers' trick.

He even made them all different coloured and it was so cool.

And it wasn't just nice looking, they also tasted good as well so it wasn't all just for show.

Right now though, we're just relaxing at the dining table where we each had a cocktail to enjoy while we engaged in conversation.

"So… You're an Inner Colonist that doesn't like other Inner Colonists…" I pointed out.

He raised an eyebrow at me, "Is that weird? Do you like all Outer Colonist just because you're one? Anyway, it's not like I hate them all, it's just the ones who come out here and think they're big shit just because they were from the Inner Colonies."

"Hmm... Point taken," I admitted.

Valiea looked around the dining room, "Speaking of which… Where's your crew?"

"Oh, they went out to do some shopping."

Technically not a lie since they were indeed going shopping.

"At this hour?" She asked, looking at her terminal.

I shrugged, "Hey, if that's what they want? Who am I to stop them right?"

Valiea shrugged at my response and I turned my attention back to Ragbar, "So err… I guess there's no way that you might know about Earth, right?"

Ragbar looked at me over the rim of his cocktail glass with a raised eyebrow, "Earth? What about it?"

"Like… You know… The possible location of it or something?"

Unexpectedly he let out a bark of laughter, "Ahahahaha! The location of a mythical place that only exists in fiction? Maybe you should try looking up those fantasy stories on the GalaNet to find it!"

Eh?

Wait, wait… What?

I looked at Valiea but she was also giving me the same confused look as I was giving her.

I turned back to Ragbar, "What do you mean 'mythical place'?"

He stopped laughing and gave me a serious look, "Wait… No way… Don't tell me you actually think it exists?"

I frowned at him, "What do you mean by that? Isn't Earth the homeworld for us or something?"

He waved his hand in front of him, "Ahahaha! No, no, no. Earth is just a fictional world that was made up in stories, don't you know? I mean, come on, how is it possible that we lose an entire planet right? It's nothing but a conspiracy theory!"

I looked at Valiea since I'm not of this universe in the first place so maybe she might know better? Because last I checked, the girls all agreed with me that there was Earth.

Valiea was also giving Ragbar an odd look, "What do you mean? Isn't it general knowledge that Earth was our homeworld that we lost during the AI Rebellion… Right?"

Ragbar actually looked surprised by that, "Wait… No way… I thought this was just a joke but… Do Outer Colonists actually believe that?"

Both Valiea and I just stared at him.

He covered his mouth as if in surprise, "No way… I seriously thought this was just a joke or even some kind of lie that was being spread around within the Inner Colonies to make fun of the Outer Colonists… I… I didn't know you actually believed Earth's existence, honey…"

Valiea scowled at him, "Are you making fun of me right now? What are you even talking about?!"

Ragbar shook his hands quickly, "No, no! I'm being serious right now, you know? It's that… Well… In the Inner Colonies, pretty much everyone knows that Earth was just something that was made up in stories and misunderstood as history for a long time."

What?

Wait, is this true? Does Earth not exist in this universe at all?

Valiea stood up from her seat, "No, no… What are you even saying? It's literally recorded in the Archives that Earth exists! They even have records of how we deactivated the Warp Gates leading to Earth and wiped their logs from any records in existence during the AI Rebellion! This is something that is taught in all schools!"

"Oh wow… It's even worse than I thought… I guess this makes sense now…" Ragbar sighed before taking a sip from his own cocktail. "You might want to sit down for this but… In the Inner Colonies, we learn that Earth is a made up world that was used as the setting for a lot of fictional stories. Several sectors in the Outer Colonies are just using this as a means to secede from the UTG by not recognising the real homeland of humanity."

"And where is the real homeland of humanity?" I asked, genuinely curious.

"Why… The current capital planet of course, Gaia Prime! The heart of humanity and the bastion of human civilisation!"

Err… Ok?

Valiea huffed, "That's so not true. Gaia Prime was just one of the first few planets that humanity settled on after we invented Warp Gates. It's not where we are from. How do you not know this?"

Ragbar frowned, "No, no. This was literally what everyone knew back in the Inner Colonies. Earth is just a hoax spread around by insurrectionists and used as a political tool to undermine the UTG's authority. There's even cults and terrorist groups that use that as an excuse to stage attacks against the government."

"Ragbar, you are so wrong on this. Seriously."

The guy made a face, "Sorry but… The Archives in the Inner Colonies all say that. And I'll be honest, I'll trust the Archives within the Inner Colonies more than the Archives in the Outer Colonies. Those can never be wrong."

Valiea slammed her fist on the table, "What the hell?! That means the Inner Colony Archives are lying! This is literally common knowledge!! My great, great, grandfather even took part in the war and he remembered how they had to shut down the Warp Gates to protect our home world!"

At this point, I don't know which side to believe.

I know that Earth exists in my own universe but I think we've already established that this was not the same universe I came from… So for all I know, Ragbar might be telling the truth.

But yet, I've met quite a number of people here who have also known about the existence of Earth as well, or at least they believe they do since Ragbar is claiming that this was a lie being spread around in the Outer Colonies.

The problem is… One side was definitely lying about this but why would they even lie?

What do they get by lying about the existence of Earth? And it seems to be a rather deep issue as well since it stretches all the way to the government itself if there are two different records in the Archives.

Not that I would know anyway since the Archives don't work on me.

If I had to choose though, I would trust my girls more and they all assured me that Earth was a thing except that its location was lost.

I raised my hand and stopped the couple in front of me from continuing their fight, prompting both of them to turn to me.

"I… Do not know about this topic enough to know which side is true but… The reason I asked this was because I have a goal of finding Earth. It is a fact that I have come across people who have assured me that Earth is real and I believe there is a saying here, isn't it? 'May the light of Terra guide you.' The word 'Terra' was referring to Earth and it originated during the war with The Confederation, didn't it?"

Valiea nodded, "That's right! Even I know that! How would such a saying pop up if Earth wasn't real?!"

Ragbar shook his head, "That word was referring to Gaia Prime though? Since it's regarded as the shining beacon of humanity which is why there's the light guiding us."

"Then what about 'Terra'?"

"Oh yeah, that's the old word for 'earth' right? Like as in… The ground? It's also one of the points that those insurrectionists use to undermine the government."

Wow… Ok, I seriously don't know which side is telling the truth at this point.

Wait…

I turned to Valiea, "What about the other races? Surely they also have records of Earth right?"

Valiea grimaced, "Unfortunately… Records of Earth also had to be scrubbed from the logs of the other races as well during the war… So there is literally no digital record of Earth left."

Ragbar shook his head, "Come on. If you go to any of their cities and you tell them about Earth like it's a real place, they would also be laughing at you. We're just on the other side of the border where we aren't close to any of those other races so anyone you come across would also be estranged from their common sense."

Seriously?

Ok, now I'm starting to get worried… Does Earth actually exist in this universe or not?
