I offered the couple to stay the night since it was already late and they agreed.

Seems like they also keep spare clothes in their van anyway in case they need to camp out or stay somewhere else aside from their own home so we don't need to worry about providing them with clothes.

"You have a bath on your ship?!" Ragbar gasped when I told him that.

"Yeah, it's supposed to be our home after all. Isn't that normal?" I asked.

"If that is normal then all the ships I've been travelling in were abnormal because none of them have baths!"

"Oh, then showers?"

"Only the ships that are designed to carry passengers have that! Any other ship you hitch a ride on, you're most likely expected to just wipe yourself with a cloth and that's it! I'm surprised you don't even know that!"

"Well… The first ship I got for myself has a shower too… So I kind of expected most ships to have them."

He blinked at me for a good long minute before he finally asked, "Are you really sure you're not from the Inner Colonies?"

I rolled my eyes and just shoved him into the bathroom after his wife before shutting the door.

Naturally, I let our guests bathe first while I went ahead to help them prepare a room for the night. They offered to make some drinks for us as a way to end the night so I was quite looking forward to that as well.

I intend to ask Ragbar more about his time in the Inner Colonies and also his experience with the culinary school. Plus maybe dig a little about what he knows about Earth to see if there's some clues about its location.

As I was walking towards the room that I was setting up as a temporary guest room for them, I found the girls all dressed up and walking towards the cargo bay.

They hadn't seen me yet and I was about to call out to them when I realised that all four of them were dressed up like they were preparing to head out.

I frowned at that and decided to keep my head down and creep after them to see what they were up to.

They told me that they didn't want to intrude on my night talk with Ragbar and Valiea which I already felt was rather odd to begin with, but I chalked it up to the girls probably having no interest in the alcohol that the couple was mixing so I did not insist.

I figured they would just be busy with their own things anyway and they did tell me not to worry about them.

So the fact that they were sneaking somewhere together was a little odd.

I followed behind them as they walked towards the armoury, my girls also clearly trying to keep themselves from being spotted.

"Careful… We don't want Tera to find out…" Amber whispered.

Don't want me to find out? About what? What are they… Wait…

No, no… They can't be right? They aren't going to some brothel or going to find guys to pick up, are they?

They filed into the armoury and I quickly pulled up my Codex to connect to the security system.

But when I shifted the view to the armoury room, I found myself looking at an empty room instead.

No… They definitely went in there… But now the camera is showing me nothing… That means the security of the ship had been tampered with?

There's only one other person who is able to do that and that cat girl is currently in the group in front right now.

Having no choice, I slowly approached the armoury room and pressed my ear against the door, but it was unfortunately too thick for me to hear anything that might be happening on the other side.

I shifted my gaze back down to check my Codex again to check if the security cameras on the cargo bay side of the door were also compromised.

I checked the feed from the security cameras that were showing the cargo bay and… I don't Ragbar's truck being shown inside the cargo bay.

That means the feed I was looking at wasn't a live feed from the cameras either…

Ries… You really went to meddle with the whole security system just for this? What are you girls even trying to do?

I could just override it right now and return it back to normal but… That might tip Ries off.

Since I can't rely on this, I would need to use my own feelings instead.

Assuming that the girls were going in there to equip themselves with their usual equipment… I believe the time they would need is… Yep, they should be done about now. So I'll just give it a few more seconds for them to move towards the door and… Now!

I pressed on the console beside the door to open it, just in time to see the other door beginning to slide closed.

I immediately tapped on my Codex where I had already navigated to door controls ahead of time and stopped the door from closing fully, leaving it slightly ajar.

Honestly I didn't even think that would work but I'm glad that the security system actually allowed me to control the door like this.

I pressed myself against the door and tried to peek through the gap to check what the girls were doing.

There, standing together were my girls doing a check of their weapons like they were going to war.

Heck, Ries even brought out the light machine gun with the backpack loader strapped to her back, so I really don't think they're going out to pick up random guys anymore.

"You got everything you need?" Amber asked while checking her own pistols.

The other three girls nodded at her.

What are they doing?

"Remember, we need to be fast and we need this to be a surprise. Tera cannot find out about this. We need to get this done before that thing happens again."

A surprise? Ohhhh!! I think I know what they're trying to do now!

They must be going to get a surprise gift for me after the challenge next week! They are so cute~

Hmm… Why do they need to arm themselves that heavily if that's what they're doing though?

Oh! Maybe they are heading down to the lower rings of the station and this is all just a form of deterrence for any idiots that might be trying to hit on them!

Alright then, in that case, I shouldn't ruin their efforts and just let them do their thing! I'm going to pretend that I didn't see anything at all! Lalala~

I let the door slide closed and turned back around to move back to the interior of the ship, going back to preparing the guest room for our two guests here.

I also decided that it might be a good idea to throw the girls a lifeline by sending a quick message asking where they were like I had just realised they were missing.

That should give them a chance to come up with an excuse which I could use to act dumb in case I need to and sure enough, while I was fluffing the pillows for the guest bed, my Codex lit up with a notification message.

I turned it on and read the message and… Eh?

Amber just basically told me in the message that they were going out to get me a celebratory gift in preparation for my win next week…

What the heck, Amber? I thought you were telling the others this was supposed to be a surprise! Why did you just leak that out to me straight away?!

Wait, is it because she didn't want to keep a secret from me so she decided to just tell me anyway?

Err… How should I respond to this?

I guess I should just act like I'm hearing it for the first time?

I typed in a response telling her that they didn't need to do that and that they were already the best gifts I could ask for.

There was a pause and I almost went back to preparing the room again before a reply got sent back, this time with Amber telling me that they were choosing to do this because they wanted to show me how much they adored me.

I couldn't help but feel a little shiver go down my spine at how much love I was getting so I quickly responded asking if this was meant to be a surprise, since I wasn't sure if Amber was going behind the others' backs just to reveal this to me while telling them to keep this a secret.

There was a shorter pause this time and she simply answered with a "yes".

I guess that proves it, she just couldn't lie to me and had to tell me what they were doing because I asked. I guess I'll have to do my best to act like I was totally not expecting their gift on that day!
