Wedding Night: My Disabled Husband Made Me Cry-Chapter 84: Is Interested in You
"Don’t cry." The man closed his eyes, suppressing the pain in them. "I won’t force you anymore, Vivian. Please don’t cry."
Vivian Quinn wiped the tears from her face. "I’ll go make something to eat."
She walked into the kitchen and immediately shut the door. Sinking to the floor, she covered her mouth to keep herself from sobbing aloud.
Through the glass door, Jett Sterling could see her sitting on the floor and could feel the sorrow radiating from her even more intensely.
’I was too impatient. I shouldn’t have pushed her like this.’
’I should have given her some time.’
’I will pull her out of this swamp of despair. I have to.’
...
For half a month, Vivian Quinn stayed at the hospital to care for Jett Sterling, not going anywhere else.
One quiet afternoon, the news of the Quinn Group’s bankruptcy sent shockwaves through Aethelgard.
When Vivian Quinn saw the news, she couldn’t help but be curious. The Quinn Group was a formidable company; it couldn’t have gone bankrupt so easily.
Vivian Quinn couldn’t help but look at the man in the hospital bed. "Jett Sterling, was this your doing?"
’Aside from him, she couldn’t think of anyone else who could destroy the Quinn Group in such a short amount of time.’
Jett Sterling was noncommittal, asking instead, "Do you feel sorry for the Quinn Family?"
Vivian Quinn gave a faint smile. "Of course not."
’I’m too busy hating them to feel any pity!’
"Vivian, I won’t let anyone who has ever hurt you get away. The Quinn Family is just the appetizer."
Vivian Quinn lowered her gaze, avoiding his eyes. "Jett Sterling, the doctor said you’ve pretty much recovered and can be discharged. It’s also... time for you to fulfill your promise and divorce me."
Jett Sterling’s gaze darkened slightly. "I still feel very unwell. I can’t be discharged. And even if I am, you’ll have to take care of me at home."
"But..."
"No buts." Jett Sterling cut her off. "Go get the doctor. My chest feels tight."
"Oh." Vivian Quinn got up and walked out of the room. ’My chest feels tight, too,’ she thought.
With her head hanging low, Vivian Quinn wasn’t watching where she was going and accidentally bumped into someone.
"I’m sorry," Vivian Quinn quickly apologized. As she looked up, she saw a face filled with rage.
"Vivian Quinn, you’ve got some nerve!" Rachel Quinn raised her hand to slap her, but Vivian reacted quickly and grabbed her wrist.
SLAP! A palm struck Rachel Quinn across the face!
Rachel Quinn clutched her stinging left cheek. "You dare to hit me?"
"Isn’t hitting you a common occurrence? After all, you’re asking for it." Vivian Quinn sneered. "Rachel Quinn, did I ever say I wouldn’t settle the score with you? Did you really think my absence these past few days meant I was afraid of you?"
’She had originally planned to wait until Jett Sterling had recovered and they had divorced before settling her scores, but she never expected Rachel Quinn to come looking for trouble herself.’
"Of course I knew you wouldn’t let this go, but I never thought you could cling to Master Sterling’s side and bring down the Quinn Group!" Rachel Quinn was trembling with rage. "Vivian Quinn, the Quinn Family fed you for all those years, and you repay our kindness with hatred! Are you even human?!"
"Can’t turn the situation around, so you’ve resorted to guilt-tripping me?" Vivian Quinn chuckled. "Rachel Quinn, you’re so pathetic. I bet that now that the Quinn Group is gone, the Grant Family wants even less to do with you, right?"
Rachel Quinn recalled how Ethan Grant had shut the door in her face when she went to the Grant Family for help these past few days. Her expression grew even colder as she raised her hand to strike Vivian again.
This time, another hand—long and elegant—stopped her.
Vivian Quinn turned her head and saw a handsome face.
"Mason Landon? What are you doing here?"
"I work here." Mason Landon smiled at her, pushed Rachel Quinn away, and a hint of coldness appeared on his refined, handsome face. "Miss, this is a hospital, not your backyard. Please show some self-respect."
Rachel Quinn sneered. "Well, well, Vivian Quinn. I really underestimated you. Even now, you can still find men to wrap around your finger and protect you. But if you want to fight me, you’re still too green. Just you wait. Sooner or later, I’ll have you on your knees begging me!"
Vivian Quinn waited until Rachel Quinn was far away before looking away and smiling at Mason Landon. "So you came back to the country to work at this hospital."
"Mhm, I just started a couple of days ago." Mason Landon’s smile was gentle. "Thank you for the vote of confidence. Why are you here?"
"My... friend is staying here."
Mason Landon glanced at the door to the VIP room and smiled. "I’m here to do my rounds. The person staying in here is Jett Sterling. He’s also your husband, isn’t he?"
Vivian Quinn nodded, then quickly realized. "You’re just in time. He’s complaining about chest discomfort. You should go take a look!"
"Alright."
The two of them walked into the hospital room. Vivian Quinn spoke up, "Jett Sterling, the doctor is here. He’s a very skilled physician, so let him give you a proper check-up."
Jett Sterling looked at the man before him, his brow furrowing slightly. "Where’s the previous doctor?"
"This is the new Dr. Landon. He came specifically to do your rounds."
"Vivian Quinn, you seem to know quite a lot," Jett Sterling sneered. "Are you two close?"
"He’s the one I told you about, my attending physician, Mason Landon. He’s really incredible. Stop being difficult and let him examine you."
The man’s handsome face tightened. "I’m a germaphobe."
Vivian Quinn froze, her shoulders beginning to tremble uncontrollably!
Jett Sterling realized what he’d said and quickly explained, "Vivian, I didn’t mean anything by that."
"Vivian, it’s okay." Mason Landon held Vivian Quinn’s shoulders. "Let me take you outside to rest for a bit. We’ll have another doctor come in."
Jett Sterling’s pupils constricted. His face turned dark, and his voice was as cold as rain dripping from a glacier. "Let go of her."
Vivian Quinn snapped back to reality and pushed him away out of pure reflex.
Mason Landon’s hands froze in mid-air. He quickly, calmly pulled them back, his voice gentle. "Vivian, you look pale."
"I’m fine..." Vivian Quinn collected her thoughts. "Mason, you should go for now. Have another doctor come in to do the examination."
"Alright. Call me if you need anything."
"Mhm."
Another doctor quickly came in to examine Jett Sterling and said, trembling, "Master Sterling, there’s nothing wrong with you."
The man’s face was grim. "But I don’t feel well."
The doctor was so scared he broke out in a cold sweat. "Then perhaps you’re... in a bad mood?"
Vivian Quinn: "..."
Jett Sterling ordered, "Arrange for my discharge. I’ll recuperate at home."
"Yes, yes, of course."
After the doctor left, Vivian Quinn stepped forward. "Since you’re being discharged, then I..."
"What do you want?" the man looked at her. "Naturally, you’re coming home to take care of me until I’ve fully recovered. Vivian Quinn, that is your responsibility."
Vivian Quinn pressed her lips together. "There has to be a time limit, right?"
"It depends on how fast I recover. As long as I’m not fully healed, you are not to have any other ideas!"
...
That afternoon, Jett Sterling was discharged from the hospital, and Vivian Quinn followed him back to Sycamore Bay.
Jett Sterling could walk around now, but he couldn’t do any strenuous exercise. As soon as they got home, he lay down on the bed.
Just as Vivian Quinn finished covering him with a blanket, her phone rang.
She glanced at the screen, walking toward the window as she answered. "Mason?"
Alarm bells immediately went off in Jett Sterling’s mind.
After the person on the other end said something, Vivian Quinn replied softly, "No, that’s alright, I can handle it... I’ll let you know if I need anything. Okay, bye."
Vivian Quinn hung up the phone, and from behind her came the man’s deep, cold voice. "Vivian Quinn, from now on, you are not to associate with that Mason Landon. And you are especially forbidden from seeing him privately!"
"Why?"
"Are you blind? Can’t you see that Mason Landon is interested in you?"
