Chapter 74: Chapter 74: Have a Child

Vivian Quinn froze. She slowly turned and saw Jett Sterling entering through the door.

She could feel a dark aura emanating from him, like an Asura emerging from Hell, terrifying to behold.

Even Wendy Reeves grew nervous. "Jett, don’t be angry. It’s not worth getting upset over a woman like her!"

Jett Sterling said coldly, "Easton, escort my mother home."

"Yes, sir." Easton Rivers immediately stepped forward. "Ma’am, please, this way."

Wendy Reeves felt aggrieved, but she didn’t dare say more and could only follow Easton out.

Vivian Quinn turned and went upstairs.

Jett Sterling followed her to the master bedroom in his wheelchair. He sneered, "I was on my way out when I heard my mother had arrived. I thought you might be in trouble, so I came back to protect you. And this is how you repay me, hmm?"

Vivian Quinn pressed her lips together. "That’s right. I want to divorce you. Jett Sterling, please grant me this."

"Vivian Quinn!" the man growled. "Say that again if you dare!"

"I could say it a thousand times, ten thousand times, and it wouldn’t change! Jett Sterling, I want to divorce you! Do you hear me?!" 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶

Vivian finished speaking and turned to leave, but Jett grabbed her.

The next second, she fell onto his lap.

"What are you doing?" Vivian raged. "Let go!"

He easily trapped her in his embrace, his dark, deep eyes burning with fury. He gritted his teeth. "Vivian, I have always been patient with you. I’ve been waiting for you to open your heart to me. But what has my waiting gotten me?"

"You’ve never once thought about me. You trample on my love for you as if it were garbage. I absolutely will not let you continue this foolishness!"

Vivian’s heart pounded with panic. "What do you think you’re doing?"

Jett didn’t answer. Instead, he crushed his lips against hers.

"Mmph..."

Vivian could clearly feel his unprecedented fury, and even an unprecedented resolve!

He seemed to have made a decision, giving her no room to escape as he relentlessly claimed her lips.

In the struggle, they both tumbled to the floor, landing on the soft carpet. But the man’s frantic kisses didn’t stop.

"RIP!"

With the sound of tearing fabric, Vivian felt a sudden chill against her skin.

"Don’t... mmph..."

The man lifted his head, the fire in his eyes burning even hotter. He lowered his head again and kissed her neck.

"No!" Vivian’s whole body went rigid as she began to struggle desperately. "Jett, no! Let me go! Ah! Let me go!"

He grabbed her wrists, easily pinning them above her head, and declared, word by word, "Vivian Quinn, I will absolutely not let you go today!"

As his words fell, the man kissed her again.

"Ah!" Vivian screamed, breaking down into tears. "Don’t touch me! Don’t touch me! Dirty! So dirty..."

Jett Sterling froze. He slowly looked up at her, a bitter smile twisting his lips. "You think I’m dirty? Vivian Quinn, am I that repulsive in your eyes? Is that it?"

Vivian’s face was ashen, and her entire body trembled uncontrollably.

Jett slammed his fist into the carpet, his low, hoarse voice laced with bitterness. "Vivian Quinn, I’ve lost..."

He pulled himself up, settled back into his wheelchair, and left without a backward glance.

Vivian turned onto her side, curling into a ball and hugging herself tightly as she broke down, sobbing.

’I’m sorry... I’m the one who’s dirty... Jett... I’m so sorry...’

Her phone rang incessantly. Vivian struggled to pull herself up from the carpet.

Her clothes were torn. She went to the walk-in closet, threw on a fresh set of clothes, and then went to the nightstand to grab her phone.

It was a call from Shane Shaw.

Vivian took a deep breath before swiping to answer. "Shane?"

"Boss," Shane said, his voice anxious. "Why weren’t you answering? You scared me to death."

"I was busy with something. Shane, there’s something I need to tell you."

"Tell me."

"It wasn’t Ian Sterling who wanted to send you abroad, it was Jett Sterling. He’s Ian’s younger uncle. He’s doing it because of me."

Shane was stunned for a good while before he snapped out of it. "Holy crap, Boss, you really hit the jackpot, huh? Jett Sterling is Ian Sterling’s younger uncle? My grandpa told me the Sterling Family’s power is immeasurable. Even though the Shaw Family has no connection to them, we would never dare defy an order from the Sterlings!"

"I’m sorry. I didn’t handle things with Jett well, and you got dragged into it. Don’t worry, I’ll find a way to convince him. I won’t let you be sent abroad."

"Boss, you sounded like you were in a rush just now, and I hadn’t finished what I wanted to say. If Jett Sterling is the one sending me abroad, then I really need to thank him."

Vivian was a bit baffled. "What do you mean?"

"You know how I’ve been trying to get out of the arranged marriage with Diana Davenport? My dad said I could go to the branch office in Eldoria. As long as I can make a name for myself there, I won’t have to rely on that marriage to strengthen our branch of the family, and I’ll be able to get my inheritance from my grandfather."

"And the Sterlings said they would only partner with us if I go to Eldoria. Compared to a partnership with the Sterling Family, that marriage alliance is nothing! So this time, my grandfather is practically begging me to go. I can finally hold my head high for once!"

Vivian was stunned. "So Jett was actually helping you in his own way, not giving you a hard time?"

"Yeah. This is a chance for me to prove myself and get out of the engagement to Diana Davenport. I’m more than willing to go. The only problem is... if I leave, there’ll be no one to look after you." Shane sighed. "Boss, with the Quinn Family bullying you and the Grant Family targeting you... if I stay, I can at least watch your back. That’s why I don’t want to go."

A wave of complicated emotions washed over Vivian.

She had misunderstood Jett. Even though he was sending Shane away, he wasn’t making things difficult for him. Instead, he had arranged a better path for him.

She knew Jett had done this for her. But the better he treated her, the more guilt gnawed at her...

"Boss, are you listening?"

"I’m here." Vivian collected her thoughts. "I can take care of myself, don’t worry about me. You should go, as long as it’s good for your future. You have an internship this semester anyway, and this is a much better opportunity than anything you’d find here."

"But I really don’t want to go," Shane said miserably. "I’ve been frail and sickly since I was a child. My family saw me as a jinx, and my grandfather sent me away to the countryside to ’recover’. If I hadn’t met you, Boss... you took care of me and nursed me back to health. I probably wouldn’t even be alive today."

"I swore to myself that I would always see you as the most important person in my life. You’re in a terrible spot right now, surrounded by enemies. I can’t just up and leave."

"Shane, I know what you mean, but you’ve always hated the idea of an arranged marriage. This is a rare chance to get out of the engagement and gain some real-world experience abroad. It’s a great opportunity."

"I’d feel guilty if you stayed because of me. Don’t worry, I’ll be fine. Who knows, by the time you get back, I might even be back on my feet."

"Shane, everyone has their own path in life. You’re not my subordinate. Go and build a bright future for yourself. You don’t have to worry about me."

"Boss, if you put it that way, then I’ll go. And speaking of which, I really have you to thank for this. If it wasn’t for you, Jett wouldn’t be looking out for me like this. It’s the whole ’love me, love my dog’ thing, right?" Shane said earnestly. "I really think Jett treats you well. You two should live happily, have a baby soon... That way, when I get back, I can be an uncle..."
