Chapter 69: Chapter 69: You’ve Had a Child

The two of them: "..."!!!

"How is that possible!" Rachel Quinn’s face turned pale. "How could Vivian Quinn possibly marry into the Sterling Family! What gives her the right!"

"Do you get to decide if she has the right?" Ian Sterling said with contempt. "Rachel Quinn, you’re the only one who treats Austin Grant like some kind of treasure. Look at Vivian Quinn. The moment she was rid of Austin Grant, she found someone a million times better. Now *that’s* what I call talent."

Vivian Quinn frowned, looking at Ian Sterling impassively.

Rachel Quinn was trembling with anger!

Nina King was stunned. "Ian, we’re relatives. You’ll help Rachel and me, right?"

"People like you, who show up trying to claim we’re related... I run into at least eight or ten of them a year. Do you know what happens to them?"

Nina King subconsciously shook her head.

"The consequences aren’t that severe. The lightest one, I think I just stabbed them through the palm of their hand."

Nina King felt a phantom pain in her own palm and shuddered in fear. "Ian... Sterling, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have bothered you. Rachel, let’s go!"

Rachel Quinn, who hadn’t yet snapped out of her daze, was dragged toward the door by Nina King.

But before they could take two steps, Ian Sterling’s voice came from behind them. "Stop."

The two of them halted.

Ian Sterling said nonchalantly, "You think this is a place you can just come and go as you please? You just insulted my little auntie. The least you can do is get on your knees and apologize."

Rachel Quinn’s entire body went stiff!

Nina King looked aggrieved. "Sterling, how could you do this? You were the one who sent me the address and told me to find you here!"

"I did tell you to come, but I didn’t tell you to pick a fight with my little auntie. She’s the lady of the house here. You’d better be careful, or you’ll be in over your heads."

Rachel Quinn turned around and sneered, "Sterling, even if the Quinn Family means nothing to you, the Grant Family is still prominent and respected. I refuse to believe you have no reason to be wary of them. You want me to kneel? In your dreams!"

She turned and walked away, with Nina King scrambling to follow.

Ian Sterling didn’t pursue them, an expression on his face like he was just enjoying the drama. "Vivian Quinn, wasn’t that satisfying?"

Vivian Quinn turned to face him. "What are you really up to?"

"Nothing! Aren’t those two the people you hate most? They came looking for trouble on their own, so I just told them to find me here. It gave you a perfect chance to put them in their place. Shouldn’t you be thanking me?"

"Who asked you to meddle?" Vivian Quinn said, displeased. "Sterling, my business with Rachel Quinn is my own. I didn’t want to drag Jett Sterling into it. But now that you’ve caused this scene, he’ll be involved whether I like it or not."

"Oh, are you acting all high and mighty now? Didn’t you marry my little uncle for his money and status?"

Vivian Quinn’s face flushed with anger. "I didn’t know what his status was when I married him!"

"Yeah, right," Ian Sterling scoffed. "You didn’t know his status, but you’d marry a man in a wheelchair?"

"I can’t be bothered to argue with you. You can leave now. And in the future, don’t bring people like them to Sycamore Bay for no reason!"

"You dare to kick me out? Vivian Quinn, you’ve gotten bold. You really think you’re so great now that you’re my little auntie? Get back here and explain yourself!"

Vivian Quinn ignored him and went straight upstairs.

...

Jett Sterling didn’t get home until that evening. When he entered the master bedroom, he saw the figure on the bed tossing and turning.

"Can’t sleep?" Jett Sterling maneuvered his wheelchair to the bedside. "Is it because of what happened this morning?"

Vivian Quinn sat up. "You know?"

"Nanny Jenner called and told me everything. We just moved in yesterday, so we’re still short-staffed. Plus, I never imagined Ian Sterling would be audacious enough to bring people here to cause a scene. I’ll deal with him."

"It’s fine. Nothing really happened to me."

"Then why can’t you sleep?"

"I don’t know. I just feel a little... uneasy."

"Perhaps you’re not sleeping well because I’m not home," Jett Sterling said, a small smile playing on his lips. "I’m going to take a shower. I’ll be back to keep you company soon."

Vivian Quinn quickly lay back down, burying herself under the covers.

After his shower, Jett Sterling soon lay down beside Vivian Quinn and wrapped his arm around her. "There now, go to sleep."

"I can’t sleep."

"Then tell me why you can’t sleep."

"I don’t know," Vivian Quinn said softly, leaning against his chest. "Even though Rachel Quinn is a hypocrite, and we’ve only had one real, face-to-face confrontation, I’ve never been afraid of her. But the way she looked at me today... for the first time, it made me feel deeply uneasy..."

"As long as I’m here, she can’t hurt you."

"It’s precisely because you’re here that she’ll become even more frantic," Vivian Quinn said seriously. "She dreams of grinding me into the dirt. Why else would she have stooped so low as to seduce Austin Grant? Now that she knows I’ve married someone as rich and powerful as you, she must be on the verge of going insane."

"Her going insane is her problem, it has nothing to do with us." Jett Sterling cupped her face. "Vivian, trust me. I won’t let anyone hurt you. And as for Ian Sterling, he’s no good. Stay away from him in the future. I won’t let him set foot in here again, either."

Vivian Quinn was puzzled. "Isn’t he your own nephew?"

"We’re not as close as you think. Besides, we shouldn’t be wasting such precious time talking about irrelevant people."

"Then what should we talk about?"

"Since my wife can’t sleep, we should naturally do something more meaningful. For example..." The man didn’t finish his sentence, instead kissing the corner of her lips.

"No..." Vivian Quinn hurriedly pulled back and hid under the covers. "I’m sleepy! I’m going to sleep now!"

The man let out a low, husky laugh. "Even if you’re going to sleep, you have to come out from under there. You’ll suffocate."

"I like sleeping like this!"

...

Vivian Quinn didn’t sleep well all night. When she woke up the next morning, she saw a missed call and a text message from Rachel Quinn.

[Ten o’clock. Meet me on the rooftop of the same hospital as last time. If you don’t come, I’ll go find your precious little sister myself.]

Vivian Quinn’s brow furrowed. She immediately got out of bed, got ready, and quickly left the house.

There was no one else on the rooftop, only Rachel Quinn, who was sitting on an outdoor chair, drinking a cup of coffee.

Vivian Quinn walked over and sat down in another chair. "Rachel Quinn, you’ve never once come to see Joy. How dare you use her to threaten me?"

"Why wouldn’t I dare?" Rachel Quinn said calmly. "But you, Vivian Quinn... I underestimated you. Even in your pathetic state, you still managed to hook someone from the Sterling Family. How did you meet Ian Sterling’s little uncle!"

"Isn’t this all thanks to you?" Vivian Quinn sneered. "If you hadn’t tried to ruin me completely, how would I have ever crossed paths with him?"

Rachel Quinn’s face paled. "Those two men who were after money sold you to a dead man for a ghost marriage. He was supposed to be that dead man!"

Vivian Quinn was noncommittal.

Rachel Quinn closed her eyes, hiding the hatred within them. "I miscalculated. I never thought that just because you slept with him once, that man would actually take a liking to you. But Vivian Quinn, do you really think the Sterling Family would accept damaged goods like you?"

"That’s none of your business." Vivian Quinn stood up and looked at her coldly. "I came today to warn you. If you dare to touch Joy, I will make you regret it."

"I disdain relying on men, but since you’re so afraid of the Sterling Family, I won’t hesitate to use my husband’s power. You’d best watch yourself."

Vivian Quinn turned to leave, but Rachel Quinn’s shrill voice cut through the air from behind her. "Vivian Quinn, you stop right there! Do you think you’ve won just because you hooked a man from the Sterling Family? Let me tell you, there’s no way the Sterlings will ever accept you. Because your body has been tainted for a long time. And not only that, you’ve even given birth to a child!"
