Wedding Night: My Disabled Husband Made Me Cry-Chapter 68: Explaining Last Night
Vivian Quinn’s mind was a complete blur. She couldn’t open her eyes or find the strength to speak, and soon, she lost consciousness.
"Vivian?" The man on top of her paused and gently pinched her cheek. "What’s wrong?"
"Don’t bother me..." the sleeping girl mumbled in annoyance. "I’m so sleepy... I want to sleep..."
Jett Sterling: "!!!"
"Vivian Quinn, wake up! You’re not allowed to sleep!"
Vivian Quinn ignored him, instinctively covering her ears with her hands and sinking into an even deeper sleep.
"Vivian Quinn!"
Jett Sterling lowered his head and kissed her lips fiercely. The girl in his arms didn’t react at all, but he felt like he was being burned alive!
With a low growl, Jett Sterling rolled out of bed. After tucking her in, he strode into the bathroom...
...
In the early morning, sunlight streamed through the gaps in the blackout curtains, illuminating the vast, luxurious master bedroom.
Vivian Quinn slowly opened her eyes, glanced around, and quickly shut them again.
Suddenly, she felt something wasn’t right. Her eyes flew open again, and it took her a moment to realize this was her and Jett Sterling’s new home.
Vivian Quinn sighed in relief, realizing she was being held tightly in Jett Sterling’s arms.
The man was sound asleep, but he seemed to be in a terrible mood. Even in his sleep, his expression was dark.
Vivian Quinn frowned, trying to recall the events of last night. Her face instantly flushed crimson all the way to her ears.
Her memory was hazy—she couldn’t even remember how she’d gotten back to the room—but she did recall them kissing in bed, clothes stripped bare...
She glanced down to see she was wearing a nightgown. She took a moment to check herself; she felt no discomfort. ’So Jett Sterling didn’t go through with it last night?’
’No wonder his expression is so dark!’
Not knowing whether to laugh or cry, Vivian Quinn gently lifted his arm from her waist. But just as she sat up, a powerful force yanked her back down.
"Ah!" Vivian Quinn cried out.
"Trying to run?" The man’s hoarse, restrained voice sounded by her ear. "Vivian Quinn, you’re going to explain last night to me!"
"Explain what?" Vivian Quinn said guiltily. "I blacked out last night. I don’t remember a thing!"
"Last time, you faked being drunk and tricked me into jumping into the sea. This time, you’re faking a blackout?" Jett Sterling sneered. "If you don’t give me a clear explanation today, you can forget about getting out of this bed!"
"...Fine, I won’t get up. I’ll just sleep until the end of the world," Vivian Quinn said, throwing caution to the wind.
"So now you’re just going to be difficult, is that it?"
The man’s gaze darkened. He moved to kiss her, but she raised a hand to stop him.
"Mmph... I haven’t brushed my teeth!"
Jett Sterling: "..."
"Vivian Quinn, you’ll be the death of me one day!"
Vivian Quinn’s eyes crinkled in a smile. "Jett, I’m hungry..."
The man looked at her, exasperated. "Get up and let’s eat."
"Okay."
...
The breakfast was lavish, and Vivian Quinn, with a hearty appetite, ate a great deal.
Jett Sterling took a phone call and left right after breakfast.
Things with the school hadn’t been sorted out yet, so Vivian Quinn didn’t have to go to classes for the time being. It was a perfect chance to get familiar with her new surroundings at home.
Just as she came back inside from a stroll through the garden, she suddenly found two uninvited guests in the living room.
Rachel Quinn and Nina King were sitting on the sofa, taking pictures of everything with their phones.
"Vivian Quinn?" The moment Rachel Quinn saw her, she flared up. "What are you doing here!"
Vivian Quinn walked over. "That’s what I was about to ask. What are you two doing here?"
"Nina and I are here to see Ian Sterling," Rachel Quinn said, then a sudden realization dawned on her. "Don’t tell me you’re here to hit on Ian Sterling, too?"
Vivian Quinn didn’t know how they’d tracked Ian Sterling here, nor did she care enough to ask. She went straight to kicking them out. "Excuse me, this is my house. I’ll have to ask you both to leave. Don’t dirty my floors."
"Your house?" Nina King scoffed. "Vivian Quinn, are you delusional? Do you even know where you are?"
Vivian Quinn tilted her head. "Why don’t you tell me? What is this place?"
"Master Grant already looked into it. Ian Sterling is the young Crown Prince of the Sterling Family. You’ve probably never heard of the Sterling Family, have you? They’re an ancient, mysterious, and powerful family in Aethelgard, so rich they could buy a country. They could crush you with the lift of a finger. No wonder you’re trying so hard to social climb by latching onto Ian Sterling."
"Oh?" Vivian Quinn asked, feigning curiosity. "And you two aren’t here to latch onto Ian Sterling?"
"We’re not like you. Do you even know what my relationship is with Ian?"
"What is it?"
Nina King announced smugly, "Ian’s mother is the niece of my grandfather’s maternal cousin’s paternal cousin!"
Vivian Quinn: "..."
"Pfft..." She couldn’t help but laugh out loud. "Wow, what a close relationship. Let me just try to untangle that... I’m not sure you’re even on the same family tree..."
"Laugh one more time, Vivian Quinn, I dare you!" Nina King glared at her. "When Ian gets here, I’ll have him throw you out! And as for what you did to Rachel, I’ll have Ian make you pay for it tenfold!"
"Ooh, I’m so scared."
"You..."
Just as Nina King was about to start cursing, a devil-may-care figure strolled in through the door. "Yo, you’re here already?"
Rachel Quinn immediately shot to her feet, plastered on her sweetest smile, and greeted him, "Sterling, you’re here."
"Ian!" Nina King rushed forward excitedly. "Your mother must have told you about me, right? I’m your relative, Nina King. I’m younger than you, so you can just call me Nina."
Ian Sterling’s lip twitched as he made no effort to hide his disdain. "Just speak normally. Don’t call me that."
Nina King looked embarrassed for a moment but quickly found a way to save face. "We’ve only just met, so it’s normal that you’re not used to me yet. Anyway, you should get rid of this person first. This Vivian Quinn is ugly and a cripple. Her just standing here is staining your floor!"
"I bet she snuck in here. That’s trespassing! We can sue her for it!"
"You want to sue her?" Ian Sterling asked, intrigued. "Do you know who the man behind her is?"
"Isn’t it just some rich cripple? How could he possibly compare to your Sterling Family?" Nina King said, shamelessly flattering him. "Ian, you’re the Crown Prince of the Sterling Family. With a single word, you could make Vivian Quinn’s crippled man scram from Aethelgard, right?"
Ian Sterling smiled. "Scram from Aethelgard? More like scram off the face of the Earth."
A flicker of delight crossed Rachel Quinn’s face. By connecting with the Sterling Family through Nina King, she was sure Vivian Quinn was finished!
’I’ll settle all our scores, new and old, at once!’
Nina King grew excited as well. "Ian, that’s wonderful! You have to make people like them, who are a blight on Aethelgard’s image, get lost. The farther, the better!"
"Oh, someone will be getting lost, alright. It’s just..." Ian Sterling walked over to Vivian Quinn and said with a smile, "I’m the one who should be scramming off the face of the Earth, right?"
Rachel Quinn: "..."
Nina King: "..."
"Sterling, what nonsense are you spouting?" Rachel Quinn was completely baffled.
"I told you to meet me here, but when did I ever say this was my house?" Ian Sterling put his arm around Vivian Quinn’s shoulder and faced them. "Allow me to make a formal introduction. The ’cripple’ you were just talking about is my uncle. And Vivian Quinn is my aunt. She is also the Young Madam of the Sterling Family. The place you’re standing right now... is her home."
