Chapter 67: Chapter 67: Call Me Husband

Jett Sterling chuckled. "Mrs. Sterling, you wrote this promise with your own hand. You have to keep your word."

Vivian Quinn’s face was so red it looked like it could bleed. "Shameless! You were the one holding my hand when I wrote it!"

"But it was still written by your hand."

"That’s just twisting my words!"

Jett Sterling opened the right-hand drawer and took out an exquisite brocade box. "Open it."

Vivian Quinn opened it curiously. Inside was a dazzling diamond necklace. She didn’t know much about jewelry, but she could tell at a glance that it was incredibly valuable.

"Last time at the auction, to deal with Austin Grant, I had to let him win that necklace. But that piece was nothing special. It wasn’t good enough for my wife."

Vivian Quinn understood what he meant. "So this one is very, very expensive, isn’t it?"

"Not that expensive. Just ten times the price of that one."

Vivian Quinn’s eyes widened. "Doesn’t that make it two billion? Jett Sterling, do you have money to burn? Spending two billion on a necklace for me?"

Jett Sterling took out the necklace and fastened it around her neck. "This is your birthday present. You can’t refuse it."

"So this is the birthday present you mentioned last time?"

"It had to be designed and crafted in advance, which was a complicated process, so I couldn’t give it to you on your birthday. Vivian, it won’t happen again. From now on, I’ll give you a gift on time for every one of your birthdays."

A sweet warmth spread through Vivian Quinn’s heart. She whispered, "Actually, I’m happy even without a gift. What I want is to have you by my side."

A starlike glimmer flashed in the man’s eyes. "Vivian, what did you just say? Say it again."

Vivian Quinn said coyly, "You heard me perfectly well!"

Jett Sterling turned her face toward him and kissed her directly on the lips.

The temperature in the study rose bit by bit, and the soft, intimate sounds of kissing slowly filled the air...

After a long while, the man finally let her go.

Vivian Quinn rested on the man’s shoulder, catching her breath. "I want to have the surgery on my leg as soon as possible," she said softly.

"What’s wrong?"

"Nothing’s wrong. I just want to be able to walk normally again soon. It’s really inconvenient like this." 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

"Vivian, are you feeling pressured?" Jett Sterling guessed. "Is it because of my mother?"

"Of course not. I can get better, so why should I keep limping?"

The man readily agreed. "I’ll listen to you. Should I find a doctor and arrange the surgery for you?"

"No need. I have my own doctor. He performed my last two surgeries, so he knows my condition best."

"Alright."

Vivian Quinn had wanted to tell him that her face had already healed, but after a moment’s thought, she decided to hold back. ’I’ll wait until my leg has recovered and surprise him with everything at once.’

The man kissed the corner of her lips. "Now that this whole affair is over, let’s move to Sycamore Bay."

"Has it been cleaned already?"

"Yes. The reason we haven’t moved in these past few days is because..."

"I know!" Vivian Quinn interrupted him. "It’s because we had to let the trending topics ferment. We had to stay here and make Rachel Quinn think we couldn’t handle the public pressure. That way, she’d be even more smug when she held her press conference!"

"Vivian is very clever."

"It’s the principle of holding back before you strike."

"Exactly."

Vivian Quinn looked at him with adoration. "Jett Sterling, you’re so smart!"

"How could I be your husband if I weren’t, hmm?"

Vivian Quinn’s eyes curved into crescents as she smiled. "True. Then I need to get smarter too!"

"You don’t have to. Just stay by my side, and I’ll protect you."

...

Bathed in the afterglow of sunset, Sycamore Bay was even more beautiful than the last time she had seen it.

As she walked into the house, Vivian Quinn immediately smelled an enticing aroma, and her stomach rumbled traitorously.

"Hungry?" Jett Sterling couldn’t help but smile. "Let’s eat first."

"Okay."

Candles were lit on the long marble table, and a bottle of red wine was breathing. It was very romantic.

Jett Sterling raised his wine glass. "Mrs. Sterling, this is our first dinner in our new home."

"Mm, to you."

Vivian Quinn took a sip of the red wine and thought it tasted quite good.

The chef soon brought out steaks. The ingredients were top-grade, and the texture was stunning.

The two of them chatted as they ate, and the atmosphere was wonderful.

Vivian Quinn rarely chatted with Jett Sterling like this, but she was surprised to discover he was knowledgeable about so many things.

"Jett Sterling, you’re really wonderful..." Vivian Quinn had drunk an entire bottle of red wine. Her eyes were a little hazy and her cheeks were flushed. "I’ve been in Aethelgard for five years, and besides Shane Shaw, no one has ever talked with me like this..."

Jett Sterling looked at her gently. "Vivian, you’re drunk."

"No, I’m not! I can hold my liquor!"

"Is that so?"

"Of course!" Vivian Quinn stood up, wine glass in hand. A maid tried to support her, but she waved her away.

She staggered over to Jett Sterling’s side and blinked at him. "See? I told you I’m not drunk! I don’t even need anyone to help me walk!"

Jett Sterling smiled gently. "Then tell me, who am I?"

"Jett Sterling!"

"Wrong." The man coaxed her gently, "Call me husband."

Vivian Quinn: "..."

"Jett Sterling, you really think I’m drunk, so you’re trying to trick me, right? Well, I won’t say it!"

"It seems you really aren’t drunk. How about another glass?"

"Alright, cheers."

Vivian Quinn heroically drained her glass in one gulp. The man’s face in front of her began to blur.

She blinked her eyes and asked in confusion, "Huh? Jett Sterling, why do you have so many faces...?"

"..."

"Jett Sterling, you’re really handsome."

"You’ve said that before." ’She even said I had the potential to be a pretty boy.’

Vivian Quinn swallowed, leaned her small face forward, and placed a light kiss on the man’s cheek.

The man’s gaze darkened. "Mrs. Sterling, there’s a price to pay for starting a fire."

Vivian Quinn didn’t seem to understand his words, her hazy eyes fixed on his Adam’s apple.

Jett Sterling had a bad feeling.

Sure enough, the next second, her kiss landed directly on his Adam’s apple.

The man’s whole body went rigid. He felt the blood in his veins begin to boil, surging to a certain place.

The self-control he was so proud of was hopelessly fragile in front of Vivian Quinn.

Just as Vivian Quinn was about to speak, the man’s face suddenly loomed large in front of her. The next second, her lips were sealed by his.

The man wrapped one arm around her waist and cupped the back of her head with the other, deepening the kiss.

"Mmph..." Vivian Quinn’s head felt dizzy, and she was quickly running out of air.

The maids waiting at the side immediately took the hint and discreetly left.

Jett Sterling stood up, still kissing the girl, and carried her as he walked upstairs.

Vivian Quinn was carried into the master bedroom and laid on the bed.

Before she could even open her eyes, the man pressed down on top of her, kissing her once more.

"Mmph..."

Vivian Quinn’s hands gripped his shoulders weakly, feeling her breath being stolen away bit by bit.

In her daze, she seemed to hear the man’s low, husky voice.

"Vivian, you’re the one who started it this time..."

Vivian Quinn didn’t understand what he meant. All she felt was a sudden coolness on her skin, as if her clothes had disappeared.

Before she had a chance to see clearly, her mouth was sealed again. It felt as if torches were being lit all over her body, and she couldn’t stop trembling.

Vivian Quinn tried to push the man off her. "Jett... Jett Sterling..."

"What is it?"

"I feel a little... uncomfortable."

"Shh, bear with it for a moment. It’ll feel better soon."
