Wedding Night: My Disabled Husband Made Me Cry-Chapter 61: You Love Him That Much?
Jett Sterling’s eyes darkened. "Vivian, you’re turning me on."
"I am not..." Vivian Quinn’s face was flushed. "It really hurts. The base of my tongue is numb."
The man lowered his head and kissed the corner of her lips. "I’m sorry."
He held her quietly, making no further moves.
Vivian Quinn rested against his chest, listening to his frantic heartbeat, and asked softly, "Jett Sterling, are you in a bad mood?"
"No."
"Still denying it? You might as well have the words ’I’m in a bad mood’ written on your face."
Jett Sterling was silent for a moment before suddenly speaking. "Vivian, do you regret everything you did for him?"
Vivian Quinn was completely baffled. "Huh?"
"I’m talking about Austin Grant. Do you regret ending up like this for him?"
"I’d be lying if I said I didn’t regret it, because it really hurt when I got injured." Vivian Quinn smiled, but her eyes misted over. "But... how should I put it? At that moment, I wasn’t thinking about much. I just knew I had to protect him."
"You loved him that much?"
Vivian Quinn shook her head gently. "I don’t know. There were practical reasons for us being together. Our two families were on good terms back in my grandparents’ generation, and they’d arranged a marriage alliance before I was even born. After I was found by the Quinn Family, I happened to save Austin Grant’s grandfather by chance once."
"Grant took a great liking to me, and since I was the Quinn Family’s biological daughter, he brought up the marriage alliance and wanted me to marry Austin Grant."
"My master is a rather traditional person. Although he never married, he instilled in me the belief that one must be devoted and loyal in a relationship. So, since I had accepted Austin Grant as my future husband, I was naturally completely devoted to him."
A light suddenly glinted in the man’s eyes. "So, can I take that to mean you were injured so badly saving him not because you loved him, but out of a protective instinct for someone you considered your future husband?"
Vivian Quinn thought for a moment, then nodded. "I suppose you could put it that way. I can only blame myself for being blind and a poor judge of character, getting myself into such a miserable state."
Jett Sterling let out a pleased, low chuckle.
Vivian Quinn frowned. "I’m this miserable and you’re laughing? Are you gloating over my misfortune?"
The man’s expression was cryptic. "Vivian, you’ll never understand."
"Understand what?"
"Nothing." Jett Sterling raised his hand to caress her face. "In any case, Austin Grant is completely out of your life now. From now on, you belong only to me."
"Mm," Vivian Quinn responded shyly. Then, something occurred to her and she looked up at him. "You’ve been sulking all evening. So this is what was on your mind?"
"No." The man flatly denied it.
"Still lying?" Vivian Quinn said with certainty. "You must be stewing inside, thinking about how much I did for Austin Grant. Jett Sterling, are you jealous?"
"Me? Jealous of Austin Grant?" Jett Sterling sneered. "Is he even worthy?"
Vivian Quinn burst out laughing. "Too scared to admit it? You’re obviously jealous!"
"You dare laugh at me?" The man flipped over, pinning her down again. "Mrs. Sterling, there’s a price to pay for laughing at me..."
"What kind of price?"
"I’ll show you."
As he spoke, the man lowered his head and captured her lips in a kiss...
...
The medical department’s schedule was packed. Vivian Quinn found a seat in the last row and was just about to catch a quick nap when a sudden commotion sounded beside her.
Vivian Quinn opened her eyes and was met with a handsome face.
"What are you doing?" Vivian Quinn jolted awake.
"What do you mean, ’what am I doing’? I’m here for class, obviously," Ian Sterling said, looking at her with disdain.
"If you’re here for class, why are you sitting next to me?"
"Because I feel like it. You got a problem with that?"
Vivian Quinn stood up to leave.
"Hey, where are you going?" Ian Sterling hurriedly followed, shamelessly sitting down beside her again. "It’s your lucky day, getting to sit with me. Don’t be ungrateful."
Vivian Quinn looked at him with a smile that didn’t reach her eyes. "This is one lucky day I’d rather do without."
"Not bad, Vivian Quinn. You’re pretty good at playing hard to get. Very well, you’ve successfully caught my attention."
Vivian Quinn: "..."
"Sterling, have you been reading too many of those domineering CEO novels?"
"How did you know? Want me to recommend a couple to you?"
"..."
Ian Sterling propped his head on his hand, looking at her lazily. "Vivian Quinn, I hear you have a sugar daddy. Who is it?"
"What’s it to you?"
"What’s wrong with caring about a fellow student? Besides, Yates York thinks so highly of you. You can’t go doing something immoral and disgrace him." Ian Sterling added, "You look pretty gullible. Tell me your sugar daddy’s name. I’m well-connected, I can check him out for you, save you from getting scammed."
"Sterling, aren’t you the school bully? Since when did you get so nice?" Vivian Quinn asked suspiciously. "What’s your motive?"
"Why don’t you take a look in the mirror? What kind of motive could I possibly have with someone like you?"
"Then why don’t you get away from me?"
"I refuse."
"Not leaving, are you?" Vivian Quinn’s eyes darted. She brushed aside the hair on her left cheek, aiming the scar on her face right at him.
"HOLY SHIT!" Ian Sterling jumped in fright. "Are you fucking trying to scare me to death?"
Ian Sterling only knew she had a limp and had heard she was disfigured, but he’d never seen the scar on her face so clearly. He nearly threw up.
Vivian Quinn let out a cold laugh. "Find it disgusting, do you? Then why aren’t you leaving?"
Ian Sterling forced himself not to move. ’I’m not falling for her reverse psychology!’
’But would my aloof, god-like uncle really be interested in a woman like this?’
’I must have been seeing things yesterday, right?’
’How could Vivian Quinn possibly have gotten into my uncle’s car?’
’I must have seen it wrong!’
’Still, this Vivian Quinn girl is kind of interesting.’
’How did I never realize there was someone this fun at Aethelgard University before?’
...
In the evening, as Vivian Quinn walked out of the school gates, she saw the black Bentley parked by the roadside from a distance.
She got in the car and found Jett Sterling sitting in the back seat.
Vivian Quinn said, pleasantly surprised, "You came to pick me up again?"
The man looked at her gently. "When I’m free, of course I have to come pick up my wife."
A sweet feeling filled Vivian Quinn’s heart. "If you’re busy, you don’t have to make a special trip to get me. I can get home by myself."
"What work is more important than my wife?" The man took her hand. "Did anything interesting happen at school today?"
"Yes, actually! I scared our school’s bully today..."
Vivian Quinn chattered on, sharing her stories, while Jett Sterling listened quietly. They talked and laughed all the way.
Forty minutes later, the black Bentley stopped at the villa’s entrance. The driver took the wheelchair out of the trunk, and Vivian Quinn helped Jett Sterling out of the car.
Suddenly, she whipped her head around to look behind them!
"What’s wrong?"
Vivian Quinn gathered her thoughts and said, "Jett Sterling, I keep feeling like someone is watching us..."
Jett Sterling gave a faint smile. "You’re probably just seeing things. Let’s go inside."
"Oh."
It was a hot day, so Vivian Quinn went to her room to shower and change first. Jett Sterling went to the study, took out his phone, and made a call. "Go and check. There have been several groups watching this place recently..."
