Chapter 53: Chapter 53: Kissing Is Perfectly Normal

Jett Sterling held her, and the two of them rolled across the bed a couple of times, their lips never parting.

Finally, Vivian Quinn was lying on top of him, the back of her head held firmly by his large hand as the kiss deepened, becoming tender and lingering.

A long while later, not until Vivian Quinn’s face was flushed and she was nearly out of breath, did the man finally let her go.

Vivian Quinn lifted her head, gasping for fresh air. Once she caught her breath, she shot him a fierce glare. "When did you wake up!"

"When you said the world would batter you with storms, but by my side, you could find peace."

Vivian Quinn: "..." ’Oh, heavens, is it too late to just strangle myself right now?!’

"Then why did you kiss me?"

The man raised an eyebrow. "My dear Mrs. Sterling had already made such a heartfelt confession. The mood was perfect. Wouldn’t it have been a real letdown if I didn’t kiss you?"

"Jett Sterling, have you no shame?"

"I only want you."

Vivian Quinn’s face reddened a bit more. She got up to leave. "I can’t be bothered with you!"

"Vivian!" The man pulled her back into his arms. "Don’t go. I know you’ve already forgiven me."

Vivian Quinn was a little embarrassed. She said sullenly, "Do you think I’m that easy to win over? Do you think you have me completely wrapped around your finger?"

"Of course not." The man caressed her face. "You’re the one who has me wrapped around *your* finger. You have me completely under your thumb. I’ll never be able to escape your grasp for the rest of my life."

Vivian Quinn couldn’t help but chuckle. "How come I didn’t know that?"

"You really don’t. You don’t know how much I can’t live without you. Vivian, don’t leave me again, okay?"

Vivian Quinn didn’t say anything, simply leaning back into his embrace.

The man immediately held her tight.

The more Vivian Quinn thought about it, the weirder it felt. "But I only stayed in that rental apartment for one night. Coming back just like this... doesn’t it feel like we’re just playing house?"

Jett Sterling kissed the spot between her eyebrows. "Then I’ll go stay with you at the apartment for a little while."

"Let’s just forget it. It’s too small there. I’m used to it, but you definitely wouldn’t be comfortable."

"Vivian, wherever you are, that’s my home."

A wave of warmth spread through Vivian Quinn’s heart. She said softly, "I won’t hold what happened before against you anymore, but you can’t lie to me ever again."

"Okay." The man’s deep voice was filled with an unstoppable joy. "Then you’ll move back in, won’t you?"

"Mhm." Vivian Quinn looked up at him. "You must be hungry, right? Let’s get up and eat something."

"As my wife commands."

The two went downstairs hand in hand, stunning Nanny Jenner and the maids.

Vivian Quinn had only picked at her dinner, so she was actually a bit hungry now and ate quite a bit with Jett Sterling.

It was still raining outside, so they couldn’t go for a walk. After eating, Vivian Quinn found a movie for her and Jett Sterling to watch together.

Vivian Quinn chose a classic romance film—picturesque and romantic. But as she watched, something felt inexplicably off.

’Why did the main characters suddenly start kissing out of nowhere!’

She was cringing so hard she wanted to crawl out of her own skin when the man’s deep, pleasant voice suddenly sounded by her ear. "Mrs. Sterling, are you trying to hint at something?"

Vivian Quinn turned to him, confused. "Hint at what?"

The man didn’t speak, simply leaning in and planting a kiss on her lips. "This."

"Don’t be ridiculous!" Vivian Quinn’s face was beet red with embarrassment. "It’s a romance movie! Kissing is totally normal. How can you say I was hinting at anything? If you’re going to say that, then I’ll just switch to a horror movie... Mmph..."

The words had barely left her mouth when the man kissed her again.

Vivian Quinn slowly closed her eyes, her hands involuntarily wrapping around the man’s neck as she accepted his tender, passionate kiss...

When the kiss ended, Vivian Quinn was too shy to even look at him.

Because she... she seemed to have responded to him...

But the man just had to tease her relentlessly, "Mrs. Sterling’s kissing technique has improved."

Vivian Quinn: "!!!"

"Jett Sterling, will it kill you to not talk?"

The man chuckled and held her tighter. "I heard from Easton Rivers that he ran his mouth to you?"

Vivian Quinn said quickly, "Don’t you blame him. He was just trying to help us."

"I know. I already gave him a raise."

Vivian Quinn: "..."

The movie continued to play, but neither of them was paying attention. Before long, they were kissing again on the sofa.

Vivian Quinn could feel his body’s reaction. A little flustered, she stared at him with wide, dazed eyes.

"What are you looking at?" The man gave her a hard kiss. "Mrs. Sterling, you’ll be the death of me!"

Vivian Quinn buried herself in his arms, not daring to look at him. "It’s not like I said you couldn’t touch me..."

’She wasn’t that prudish. They were already a married couple, and it wasn’t like they’d never done it before. If he really wanted to, she wouldn’t refuse.’

"Let’s wait a little longer." The man sighed. "It’s torture, but I’m willing to wait. Until you’re truly ready..."

Vivian Quinn had to suppress a smile. She was actually very touched by his patience and restraint.

...

A night of sweet dreams.

The next morning, Vivian Quinn was woken by a ringing phone.

She fumbled for her phone and answered, "Hello..."

"Boss, how come you’re not home?"

"I am home..."

"Well, I’ve been knocking for ages and no one’s answering. That guy next door, Zachary Quinn, doesn’t seem to be around either."

Vivian Quinn’s eyes flew open. "No, no, I’m not at *that* home!"

"What do you mean?"

"I’m back at Jett Sterling’s house..." Vivian Quinn scratched her hair. "Did you need me for something?"

"I went to Prosperity Pavilion for breakfast today and picked up an order for you."

"Prosperity Pavilion’s breakfast is my favorite! Since you already bought it, you should bring it over."

"Okay."

Just as Vivian Quinn hung up, an arm scooped her into a firm embrace.

"Good morning, Mrs. Sterling."

"Morning." Vivian Quinn was a little shy. "I need to get up. Shane Shaw is bringing me breakfast in a bit."

Jett Sterling frowned. "Do we need him to bring breakfast?"

"No, that’s not it. He got it from Prosperity Pavilion. The line at Prosperity Pavilion is at least an hour long. I always want to eat from there, but I never want to wait in line, so I have to eat it today."

"This is the one and only time. Don’t let it happen again. Bringing breakfast... that crosses a line."

Vivian Quinn pinched his cheek. "You’re so petty. Shane Shaw is my buddy. What’s wrong with him bringing me breakfast? I used to make breakfast for him all the time when we were kids."

The man’s face instantly turned cold. "You’ve never even made breakfast for me. Vivian Quinn, I’m your husband."

Vivian Quinn didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. "I never said you weren’t. But who’s fault is it that you showed up later in my life?"

Jett Sterling’s expression darkened even more.

Vivian Quinn cupped his face and gave him a quick kiss on the corner of his lips. "Don’t be upset. I’ll get up right now and make you breakfast, okay?"

The gloom on the man’s face finally dissipated quite a bit. "I appreciate the thought, but you don’t need to make breakfast."

"Why not? Didn’t you just say I’ve never made it for you?"

"I didn’t marry you to have you do chores. If anyone’s going to be doing any serving, it’ll be me serving you."

Pink bubbles seemed to pop up in Vivian Quinn’s heart, and she felt a sweet warmth. "So how are you planning to ’serve’ me? By making me breakfast?"

"That kind of service isn’t quite good enough. Let’s try a different way."

Before Vivian Quinn could react, Jett Sterling flipped over, pinning her beneath him, and lowered his head to capture her lips in a kiss...
