Wedding Night: My Disabled Husband Made Me Cry-Chapter 54: Dating
Shane Shaw waited in the living room for quite a while before Vivian Quinn finally came downstairs.
"Boss, you’re just getting up now? Breakfast is about to get cold... Huh? Why is your face so red?"
Vivian Quinn raised a hand to her burning face. ’It was all Jett Sterling’s fault for clinging to her and not letting her get out of bed.’
"It’s nothing, I’m just a little hot. Where’s breakfast?"
"In the dining room."
"I’ll go eat then."
Shane Shaw followed Vivian Quinn into the dining room, pulled out a chair, and sat down. He lowered his voice and asked, "Boss, why did you come back?"
Vivian Quinn looked a little embarrassed. "Um... Jett Sterling had a headache last night, so I came back to check on him and ended up staying."
"Just a headache? Did you really need to make a special trip back for that?"
"His headaches aren’t just ordinary headaches. It’s complicated, I’ll explain it to you later."
"So, are we leaving after we finish eating?"
"We’re not." Vivian Quinn coughed lightly. "Um... Jett Sterling and I made up."
Shane Shaw: "..."
He glanced at the maid standing nearby. "You may all leave us."
"Yes, sir." The maids quickly departed.
"Boss, are you... dating Jett Sterling?" Shane Shaw asked, a bewildered look on his face. "You’re going to trust a man that easily? You just crawled out of that pit of fire with Austin Grant!"
"He’s not like Austin Grant," Vivian Quinn said seriously. "I can’t lie to my own heart, and I really can’t resist Jett Sterling."
Shane Shaw: "..."
"Boss, you’ve changed. I thought that after seeing Austin Grant’s true colors, you’d become carefree and wander the world with me. I never expected you to fall into the vortex of love so quickly."
Vivian Quinn: "..."
"Shane Shaw, I’m already married. Even when I didn’t know Jett Sterling well, I wouldn’t have just divorced him lightly. From the day we married, I’ve had to consider the person by my side with every step I take. That’s my duty as a wife."
Shane Shaw sighed. "I really don’t get you people. What’s the point of rushing to jump into your graves..."
"You just don’t get it."
"I don’t! I was hoping you’d get a divorce quickly so we could..."
"Who said anything about a divorce?" A deep, displeased voice cut Shane Shaw off.
Vivian Quinn turned to see Jett Sterling wheeling himself over. She gave him a brilliant smile. "Didn’t you say you didn’t want to get up for breakfast?"
Jett Sterling came to Vivian Quinn’s side, his dark gaze sweeping over Shane Shaw. "We have a guest, so naturally I had to come down. What were you just saying?"
Shane Shaw: "..." ’This guy’s glare is terrifying! I’m panicking!’
"He was just curious about why we didn’t get a divorce." Vivian Quinn shot Jett Sterling a look. "Don’t get needlessly jealous."
"Mm," Jett Sterling replied faintly.
Vivian Quinn got him some breakfast. "Eat up."
"Okay."
Shane Shaw suddenly felt like a third wheel. Scrambling for something to say, he added, "Boss, school’s starting soon. I’ll come pick you up."
"No need," Jett Sterling cut in. "I’ll take her."
Shane Shaw: "..."
Vivian Quinn took a bite of a soup dumpling. "We’re in different departments. I’ll just go on my own. Let’s meet on campus."
"Alright then."
...
「In the blink of an eye, it was September—the first day of school.」
Early that morning, Jett Sterling drove Vivian Quinn to Aethelgard University.
Just as she got out of the car, she saw Rachel Quinn getting out of a red sports car.
"Vivian," Rachel Quinn said as she walked over. Seeing the car drive away, she smiled. "Is that your husband’s car? Doesn’t he have a black card? Does he usually just drive a Bentley? It’s not cheap, sure, but it’s a far cry from Austin’s. See that Lamborghini just now? Austin just bought it. It’s a global limited edition."
Vivian Quinn smiled faintly. "Oh, wow. I’m so jealous you have such a rich fiancé."
Rachel Quinn was inwardly gloating.
Vivian Quinn continued, "Then you two should get married quickly. I’ve said it before: a bitch and a dog are a match made to last forever. Once you’re married, you can’t go out and ruin other people’s lives."
Rachel Quinn: "..."
"Vivian, don’t be sour just because you can’t have the grapes. It makes you look petty."
Vivian Quinn laughed out loud. ’If the financial documents Easton Rivers provided were correct, this Bentley of Jett Sterling’s was the one the nanny used for grocery shopping—it wasn’t even worthy of being included on his list of assets.’
’It was just that Jett Sterling seemed to be very low-key, unlike Austin Grant, who loved to show off and couldn’t wait to parade around a new car the moment he bought it.’
She had nothing more to say to someone like Rachel Quinn, so she ignored her and walked straight into the school.
Rachel Quinn chased after her. Seeing the crowd of students milling about, she raised her voice and said, "Vivian, even though you were willful and slept around with other men, we can’t just abandon you. I went ahead and paid your tuition for you."
The passing students all shot Vivian Quinn disdainful looks.
"Is that the cripple from the dance department, Vivian Quinn?"
"Yeah, she used to be the campus belle back in her freshman year. After her face was ruined and she became a cripple, Rachel Quinn took her place. Who would get with her looking like that?"
"She’s just overcompensating. We should stay far away from people like her, lest we get tainted by her bad luck."
Vivian Quinn turned to glance at Rachel Quinn. "You might as well just use a megaphone."
She then raised her own voice. "Oh, and while you’re at it, you should publicize what happened between you and that perverted old man on your birthday."
Rachel Quinn: "..."!!!
"Whoa! The campus belle and a perverted old man? What’s the story there?"
"Sounds juicy. My imagination is already running wild..."
Rachel Quinn’s face paled. "What nonsense are you spouting? Nothing happened between me and some perverted old man!"
But her rebuttal unexpectedly drew even more sideways glances from the crowd.
Mortified and furious, she said, "Vivian, I was just trying to help you pay your tuition out of the kindness of my heart. How can you slander me like this?"
"It takes one to know one, so drop the innocent act. Get lost and stop hanging around me. Otherwise, I can’t guarantee those explosive secrets of yours won’t get out."
With that, Vivian Quinn walked away, leaving Rachel Quinn rooted to the spot, seething with hatred.
’Vivian Quinn, let’s see how long you can stay so smug!’ 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
...
Vivian Quinn arrived at her classroom and saw many students scanning a QR code to pay their tuition. She went to scan it as well, only to find that her fees had already been paid.
The dance department’s tuition was not cheap—over a hundred thousand for a single semester. She had planned to check the exact amount before figuring out how to get the money, but unexpectedly, someone had already paid it for her.
"Vivian Quinn." A contemptuous voice interrupted her thoughts.
The class president, Diana Davenport, walked up to her. "We’re all going to rehearse for the performance. You’ll be in charge of cleaning the classroom."
Vivian Quinn frowned. "And why should I?"
"Don’t you know why?" Diana Davenport’s gaze flickered to her leg. "Can you dance? If you can, let’s switch. I’ll clean, and you can go dance."
"Can’t you use class funds to hire a cleaner?"
’This classroom was huge, and it hadn’t been cleaned in two months. It would take her a whole day to do it by herself.’
"I’d love to, but the class funds are tight. We have to save where we can." Diana Davenport smiled. "Get it done, and don’t slack off."
Vivian Quinn watched her leave, a cold look in her eyes. She took out her phone, hired two hourly cleaners, and then promptly put her head down on her desk to sleep.
She didn’t know how long she’d been asleep when she heard Shane Shaw’s voice in her ear. "Boss, wake up. Time for lunch."
Vivian Quinn opened her eyes. "It’s still early."
"It’s not! Any later and Cafeteria Number Three will be out of sweet and sour pork ribs."
That snapped Vivian Quinn fully awake. "Alright, let’s go."
The two of them chatted as they walked.
"Boss, I could feel it during breakfast the other day. You don’t love me anymore. You only have eyes for Jett Sterling."
Vivian Quinn was confused. "I don’t think so..."
"And you say you don’t! You think I can’t feel the change in you?!"
"Alright, alright, I apologize, okay?"
Shane Shaw put his arm around her shoulder. "In any case, you can’t show favoritism to Jett Sterling in the future!"
"I won’t, I won’t. Now get your arm off me. I’m a married woman now, I have to be mindful of appearances."
"Hmph! I’m gonna keep my arm right here!"
Not far away, Wendy Reeves held up her phone, recorded the scene, and sent the video directly to Jett Sterling...
