Chapter 51: Chapter 51: I Can’t Live Without You

"So what if I’m not gentle? What are you going to do about it?"

The man sighed. "There’s really nothing I can do. You’re the wife I married. Even if it brings me to tears, I have to give in to you and spoil you."

Vivian Quinn’s heart fluttered, but she still feigned disdain. "Who asked you to give in to me and spoil me?"

"Vivian." The man suddenly took her hand. "I’m the one who needs this. I want to stay by your side. I can’t live without you. Let’s not get a divorce, okay?"

Vivian Quinn felt a sting in her nose. She didn’t consider herself a soft-hearted person. On the contrary, once she made up her mind about something, she rarely looked back. Shane Shaw had once said that once her mind was set, ten bulls couldn’t drag her away.

But now, she had to admit her heart was softening.

Perhaps it was because some of her anger had dissipated over the past two days, or maybe it was because she was remembering too many of Jett Sterling’s good qualities.

Jett Sterling took the hair dryer from her hand and turned it off. He pulled her by the hand, seating her on his lap. "Vivian, I know I was wrong. You can hit me, you can yell at me, just don’t ignore me, okay?"

"Do you really think we can just pretend what happened before never happened?" Vivian Quinn said sullenly. "It’s like that blanket. Even if you can wash out the stain, the little hole where it was snagged will still be there."

"How will you know the tear can’t be mended if you don’t try?" Jett Sterling pulled her into a hug. "Vivian, give me a chance."

Vivian Quinn’s mind was still a mess, but for some reason, she felt much calmer than she had a few days ago.

"I’m hungry."

"Then let’s eat first."

"Okay."

Only then did the man let her go.

Vivian Quinn looked at his messy hair and couldn’t help but laugh. She got a comb and fixed it for him before they finally sat down to eat together.

Jett Sterling placed some food on her plate. "Eat more. You’ve lost weight."

Vivian Quinn pouted. "And whose fault is that? You’re the one who made me so angry."

"Then I’ll feed you every day and do my best to fatten you up."

"No way."

Lunch was pleasant enough. It was just that after the meal, a certain someone shamelessly wanted to stay for an afternoon nap.

"Are you crazy? This place is tiny. You want to squeeze in here with me?"

"Then come home with me."

"Jett Sterling, don’t push your luck. I haven’t forgiven you yet."

"Then when will you forgive me?"

Vivian Quinn thought for a moment. "We’ll see how you behave."

"Then I’ll head back for now. I’ll come have dinner with you tonight."

"Depends on my mood."

The man took her hand and brought it to his lips for a kiss. "Good afternoon, Mrs. Sterling."

"Just get lost already." Vivian Quinn saw him to the door and immediately shut it behind him, but an unconscious smile spread across her face.

She wasn’t sleepy. Lying on the bed, she took out her phone and sent a text to Zachary Quinn: [Zachary Quinn, I’m giving you a few days off. Go abroad and win your wife back. It’s not easy for two people to get together and marry.]

[Is Miss Quinn in a good mood today? Did you make up with your husband?]

[No. I just thought about it seriously all last night and I’m not as angry anymore.]

[So, will you give your husband a chance?]

[I already am. I even allowed him to have lunch with me just now.]

[That’s great news. It looks like if he just keeps it up, he’ll be able to earn your forgiveness.]

[We’ll see how he behaves.]

[In that case, Miss Quinn, I’ll take my leave to go win back my wife.]

[Okay. I wish you the best of luck.]

[I’ll take those good wishes.]

...

Vivian Quinn put her phone away and cleaned her little nest again, making it look even tidier. Just looking at it improved her mood.

In the blink of an eye, evening arrived. Vivian Quinn was getting a little hungry. She had originally planned to make something for herself, but remembering what Jett Sterling had said, she decided to give him a call.

"Vivian." The man answered quickly. "What’s wrong?"

Vivian Quinn said lightly, "It’s raining hard outside. You don’t have to come over for dinner tonight."

"Okay," the man agreed instantly. The next second, a muffled groan came from the other end of the line.

"Jett Sterling, what’s wrong?" Vivian Quinn’s heart leaped into her throat. "Is your illness acting up?"

"I’m fine," came the man’s strained voice. "Finish your dinner and go to bed early. Lock the door tonight."

"Just hold on, I’m coming back right now!"

Vivian Quinn rushed out to hail a cab and hurried back to the villa.

Just as she reached the door of the master bedroom, she heard Jett Sterling’s agonized roars from inside!

Vivian Quinn burst in and saw the man lying on the bed, with Easton Rivers and two doctors standing by, completely at a loss. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖

"Jett Sterling!" Vivian Quinn rushed forward, looking at the man’s handsome but pale face. "How are you?"

"Vivian..." Veins bulged on the man’s forehead, and cold sweat was about to soak the pillow. "I was a good boy... I’ve been holding it in..."

Tears instantly welled up in Vivian Quinn’s eyes. "Don’t talk. I’ll perform acupuncture on you!"

"Ma’am." Easton Rivers handed her the silver needles.

Vivian Quinn took a deep breath, forcing herself to stay calm as she inserted the needles into the acupoints on the man’s head.

After about ten minutes, the color gradually returned to the man’s face, and the cold sweat stopped.

Vivian Quinn checked Jett Sterling’s pulse and frowned. "You haven’t been resting well?"

"You want to divorce me. How could I possibly sleep well?" the man retorted.

Vivian Quinn: "..."

"Jett Sterling, no matter what, you can’t joke around with your own health."

"Without you by my side, there’s no point in living."

"Jett Sterling, don’t you dare say things like that!" Vivian Quinn said angrily. "Don’t think I’ll go soft on you just because you’re abusing your own body. I’m not falling for that!"

"I was wrong," the man apologized immediately.

"Forget it." Vivian Quinn took a towel and wiped his face. "Just get some sleep."

"I won’t sleep. If I sleep, you’ll leave."

"...Fine, I won’t leave, alright?"

Jett Sterling’s face lit up. "Really?"

"Really. I keep my word."

The man gripped her hand tightly. "Then you have to promise that when I wake up, you’ll still be here."

"I promise."

Only then did the man close his eyes in peace.

Vivian Quinn waited until he was sound asleep before removing the silver needles from his head.

"Ma’am..."

"SHHH..." Vivian Quinn motioned for Easton Rivers to be quiet. "Let’s talk outside."

The two of them stepped out of the master bedroom. After closing the door, Easton Rivers finally spoke. "Ma’am, thank goodness you came back. Otherwise, we really didn’t know what to do. Master Sterling was in extreme pain, but because of what you said, he forced himself to endure it and refused to take a sedative."

A sharp pain pierced Vivian Quinn’s heart.

"Ma’am, you must be hungry, right? Please go eat first. The food has been ready for a while and was all packed up. Master Sterling was just about to have it sent over to you when his illness suddenly flared up."

Vivian Quinn followed Easton Rivers to the dining room, where Nanny Jenner was about to transfer the food from the insulated containers back onto plates.

Vivian Quinn sat down. "Don’t bother. I’ll just eat it like this."

"Yes, Young Madam." Nanny Jenner stepped aside.

Vivian Quinn’s heart felt heavy, and she had no appetite. She took a few random bites and then put down her chopsticks. "Easton Rivers, come with me for a moment."

"Yes." Easton Rivers followed Vivian Quinn to a side hall and asked, "Ma’am, did you need me for something?"

"You’re the one who needs something, aren’t you?" Vivian Quinn said with a small smile. "You’ve been hesitating for a while. Whatever you want to say, just say it."

Easton Rivers hesitated for a moment, then steeled himself and spoke. "Ma’am, even if this makes you angry today, I have to say what’s on my mind. Do you remember the lingerie in the room on your wedding night with Master Sterling?"
