Wedding Night: My Disabled Husband Made Me Cry-Chapter 132: I Have a Wife
"Holy shit!" Ian Sterling, who was thoroughly enjoying the drama, jumped in surprise. "You scared me!"
Vivian Quinn had made such a scene that everyone nearby turned to look curiously.
The sweet-faced girl across from Jett Sterling also glanced at Vivian Quinn before quickly looking away. With a smile, she said, "Professor Quinn, I’m sorry. Some students are just so ill-mannered. I hope she didn’t startle you? Maybe we should eat in the faculty cafeteria next time."
"That won’t be necessary," Jett Sterling said calmly. "I wanted to experience the boldness and vitality of youth."
"But you’re very young too," the girl said, her face full of admiration. "And so accomplished for your age..."
Vivian Quinn couldn’t stand to listen anymore. She got up and walked out.
"Vivian Quinn, wait for me!" Ian Sterling scrambled to chase after her.
Jett Sterling seemed to be in a good mood. The corners of his lips curved into a faint smile, stunning the girl across from him.
"Professor Quinn, may I be so bold as to ask you a question?"
"Go ahead."
"Do... do you have a girlfriend?"
"No."
The girl’s face lit up. "Does that mean all the girls who admire you still have a chance?"
"It’s true, I don’t have a girlfriend." Jett Sterling raised an eyebrow. "I have a wife."
"..."
"And what’s more," the man’s lips curled into a smirk, "she has a terrible temper. I wouldn’t dare get on her bad side."
"..."
"Vivian Quinn, wait up!" Ian Sterling finally managed to catch up with her. "You haven’t even eaten! Where do you get the energy to run so fast?"
Vivian Quinn’s face was pale with anger, her lips pressed into a tight line.
"Are you mad?" Ian Sterling asked, staring at her lovely face. "Because of my uncle?"
"No."
The corner of Ian Sterling’s mouth twitched. "You still won’t admit it? ’I’m furious right now’ is written all over your face!"
"Then why don’t you stay away from me?" Vivian Quinn waved a hand dismissively. "I’m emotionally unstable right now, and I want to be alone."
Not only did Ian Sterling not leave, he shamelessly scooted closer. "Vivian Quinn, are you... jealous?"
Vivian Quinn: "..."!!!
"You know, nobody would think you’re mute if you just kept your mouth shut!"
"Haha! You’re totally jealous!"
"Ian! Sterling!" Vivian Quinn’s eyes, full of warning, locked onto his face. "If you dare say one more word, I’ll punch you! Now, get the hell out of here!"
Ian Sterling was indignant. "I was just trying to be nice and show you some concern, and not only do you not appreciate it, you yell at me! Hmph! There are plenty of girls at school just waiting for me to show them some attention!"
He stormed off in a huff. Vivian Quinn paid him no mind. She was starving, so she went to a convenience store, made a cup of instant noodles, and sat down to eat.
A bottle of yogurt suddenly appeared in front of her. Vivian Quinn lifted her gaze and saw Mason Landon’s handsome face.
"Thanks, but I can’t drink it."
"You have to drink it, even if you don’t want to. Eating only instant noodles isn’t nutritious."
Vivian Quinn stirred her instant noodles, let out a faint, humorless laugh, and said, "You know, sometimes I think life is pretty meaningless. If I’d known growing up would mean going through so much, it would have been better if they’d just killed me during that kidnapping."
"What nonsense are you talking about?" Mason Landon said, displeased. "There’s an old saying: a miserable life is better than a good death. If you had been killed, would you have been able to die in peace?"
"But then none of this would have happened later, would it?"
Mason Landon stared into her eyes. "Vivian, you shouldn’t be thinking this way. This isn’t you."
"Mason, have you ever considered that maybe you’ve never understood the real me?"
"That’s impossible. What I see is the real you, and I just hope you never change."
Vivian Quinn didn’t respond. She lowered her gaze and went back to eating her instant noodles.
...
All afternoon, Vivian Quinn was absent-minded during her classes. After they ended, she took a taxi back to Sycamore Bay as usual.
But after getting out of the car, she didn’t hurry inside. She stood at the gate, gazing at the palace-like estate before her, and suddenly felt lost.
After a long moment, Vivian Quinn finally collected herself and strolled into the house.
"Madam, you’re back?" Nanny Jenner came forward to greet her with a smile. "It’s cold outside. Why did you walk all the way in?"
"I wanted to take a walk."
"The Chinese New Year is almost here. You must take good care of yourself; you can’t be sick for the holiday."
"Yes, the new year is almost here..." Vivian Quinn’s heart sank. ’How is it the new year already...’
"Madam, you’re still so young. You have a long and wonderful road ahead of you, so there’s no need to be melancholic. Come on, wash your hands and get ready for dinner."
Jett Sterling wasn’t in the living room; he came down from upstairs.
The two of them exchanged a look, but neither spoke as they sat down at the dining table.
They both ate in silence, and the atmosphere plunged into a dead stillness, broken only by the sound of chewing.
Vivian Quinn felt a tightness in her chest and had no appetite. After only a few bites, she put down her chopsticks, got up, and left.
Jett Sterling paused his meal, slowly putting down his chopsticks. He glanced at Nanny Jenner. "Prepare something for her to eat later. Make sure she eats before going to sleep."
"Yes, Sir."
Vivian Quinn was in no mood to work out. She curled up on the sofa in the master bedroom, staring blankly into space.
At some point, a light rain began to drizzle outside. She stood up, walked to the floor-to-ceiling windows, and gazed at the gloomy, oppressive sky, which made her feel even more suffocated.
’She didn’t know why. She’d tried so, so hard, yet her life had still turned out like this!’
Vivian Quinn sniffled, tilting her head back to stop the tears from spilling over.
Suddenly, a knock came at the door. Vivian Quinn composed herself and called out, "Come in."
"Madam," Nanny Jenner said, entering with a tray. "You barely touched your dinner, so I had the kitchen prepare some bird’s nest soup for you. Please have a little."
"Thank you." Vivian Quinn sat back down on the sofa. Something suddenly occurred to her. "I’m kind of traumatized by bird’s nest soup now."
"Don’t you worry, Madam. Everything you consume is checked by a doctor, and I prepared this myself. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with it."
"Of course I trust anything you bring me."
"Madam, your holiday break is coming up, isn’t it?" Nanny Jenner asked tentatively. "You should take advantage of the time off and go on a trip with the Sir. They say traveling together is the best way for a couple to grow closer." 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
Vivian Quinn took a sip of the soup. "Now is not the time."
"Then when will it be the right time?"
"My situation with him is very complicated right now. It’s not something that can be explained in a few words. You don’t need to worry about it."
"Alright, then." Nanny Jenner looked disappointed. "In that case, I’ll focus on the preparations for the Chinese New Year. This will be your first one in this house, so it has to be a lively celebration."
Vivian Quinn gave a faint smile. "Do whatever you think is best."
"How can you say that? The Chinese New Year is the most important holiday. We can’t be casual about it..."
Vivian Quinn was used to Nanny Jenner’s fussing. Once Vivian had finished the soup, Nanny Jenner took the tray and left.
Vivian Quinn took a shower, but she didn’t feel sleepy. She went straight to the study and got busy on her computer.
Late at night, Jett Sterling lay on the sofa in the master bedroom. He waited and waited, but Vivian Quinn never returned.
He threw back the blanket, got up, and knocked gently on the study door.
There was no response from inside.
Jett Sterling opened the door and went in, only to find Vivian Quinn already asleep, slumped over the desk.
He tiptoed forward and carefully helped her sit up before sweeping her into his arms. Just as he was about to leave the study, the woman in his arms suddenly opened her eyes!
