Wedding Night: My Disabled Husband Made Me Cry-Chapter 131: I Want This Man
The man in the wheelchair was expressionless. He didn’t meet her gaze; he didn’t even glance in her direction.
The moment Jett Sterling entered, the students below erupted.
"Wow! He’s so handsome!"
"Unbelievable. How can a man more handsome than Ian Sterling and Mason Landon even exist?!"
"Why is he in a wheelchair?"
"What’s wrong with being in a wheelchair? It can’t hide his stunning looks! You can have Ian Sterling and Mason Landon. This man is mine!"
"You wish. Ian Sterling and Mason Landon already belong to Vivian Quinn."
"..."
Vivian was speechless. ’If these people knew this man was also mine, would they drop dead from sheer indignation?’
"What’s going on?" Hugh York said sternly. "Where’s the applause?"p>
The classroom immediately thundered with applause.
Once the applause died down, Jett Sterling spoke, his face devoid of expression. "Two things. First, no need to guess—I’m a cripple. Second, attendance in my class is mandatory. We’ll begin now."
Everyone was speechless.
Even Hugh York hadn’t expected him to be so cold. He tried to smooth things over with a smile. "Professor Quinn was not easy for the university to hire. Everyone, please cherish this opportunity. I’ll let you get to your class. I’ll be going now."
Vivian watched the man at the lectern. ’It seems he really is here just to teach. No nonsense at all.’
However, she hadn’t expected Jett Sterling’s professional expertise to be so strong. And perhaps because he was so handsome and his voice was so pleasant, everyone listened with rapt attention.
The moment class was over, Jett Sterling left. From beginning to end, he never once looked at Vivian, let alone spoke to her.
Ian Sterling, who had been holding back a torrent of words, finally burst out, "Has my uncle gone mad? What is he trying to do?!"
"You’re asking me? Who am I supposed to ask?" Vivian’s head was throbbing. "Why don’t you chase after him and ask? He can’t go very fast in that wheelchair, anyway."
Ian Sterling was a total coward. He shrank back and said, "Forget it. I don’t have the guts."
"I knew you wouldn’t dare."
Vivian couldn’t focus for the next two classes. The moment the final bell rang, she bolted from the classroom without a second’s delay.
She arrived at the school gate, hailed a taxi back to Sycamore Bay, and immediately spotted the man sitting in the living room.
Vivian walked over and found Jett Sterling planning his curriculum on a laptop. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
She pressed her lips together. "Jett Sterling, what are you trying to pull, causing such a scene at my university?"
"Who said I was causing a scene?" Jett Sterling retorted. "I’m just picking up a part-time job. Is that not allowed?"
Vivian was speechless.
"You’re wealthy enough to buy a country, and you’re getting a part-time job? Who are you kidding?"
"It’s precisely because I’m wealthy enough to buy a country that I need spiritual fulfillment. I find disseminating knowledge to be a very meaningful pursuit."
Vivian was speechless. ’I’m actually at a loss for words!’
"Jett Sterling, your motives are never that simple. I don’t believe a word you’re saying."
"Then what do you think my motive is?"
"I don’t know, and I don’t want to know." Vivian went upstairs in a huff.
After dinner, Vivian changed into her workout clothes, intending to go for a run in the gym, but Jett Sterling stopped her. "Your foot just healed. You can’t run."
"I’m going to run," Vivian said, puffing out her cheeks in anger.
"Vivian, don’t be willful." Jett Sterling maneuvered his wheelchair in front of her. "What if you sprain it again?"
Vivian rolled her eyes. "Fine, I’ll do yoga. Is that okay?"
"I’ll find a yoga instructor for you."
"No need. I’m very good at it myself."
Vivian did yoga for an hour, then went back to her room for a hot shower. When she came out, she saw Jett Sterling already lying on the sofa.
She turned off the lights and lay down to sleep.
"Vivian," the man’s deep, pleasant voice sounded in the darkness. "Don’t worry. Me teaching at Aethelgard University won’t affect you."
"You’re already affecting me," Vivian said coldly. "My life at Aethelgard University is chaotic enough. You showing up just makes things worse."
"Jett Sterling, I didn’t even have to go to school. I transferred to the medical department for you, and now the situation is spiraling out of control. You, Mason Landon, and that good-for-nothing Ian Sterling... I’m really at my wit’s end with you all. Men really do just slow down my sword arm."
Jett Sterling was speechless.
"Vivian..."
"Forget it." Vivian cut him off. "If you want to teach, then teach. We just have to pretend we don’t know each other. Don’t forget, we’re in the middle of a messy divorce. I don’t want rumors about us spreading around campus. Understand?"
"I understand."
"Good. I’m going to sleep."
...
Early the next morning, as soon as Vivian arrived at school, Mason Landon called out to her. "Vivian, come with me for a moment."
"Is something wrong?" Vivian pointed to the watch on her wrist. "I’m in a hurry."
"Why is Jett Sterling at Aethelgard University?" Mason Landon asked bluntly. "Is he not planning to divorce you anymore?"
"Shouldn’t you be asking him that?" Vivian smiled. "Honestly, I’ve never been able to figure out his methods, so I can’t guess."
"What other motive could he have? It’s obviously because of you." Mason Landon’s expression was grim. "Vivian, you shouldn’t get entangled with him again. Don’t you understand?"
"Mason, I don’t want to talk about this anymore. If you have a problem, feel free to take it up with Jett Sterling... Oh, by the way, a friendly reminder: he’s going by Zachary Quinn now. I imagine if his real identity were exposed, it would cause quite a commotion at Aethelgard University. So, it’s probably best if you help keep it a secret. That’s all."
Mason Landon watched her cold, retreating figure, his hands slowly clenching into fists...
Ever since Jett Sterling arrived, Mason Landon’s popularity had taken a hit. Even the attention on Ian Sterling had been forced down. All the posts on the campus forums were about Jett Sterling.
At lunch, Ian Sterling was sulking. "Is my uncle toxic or something? Why does he have to come here and steal my thunder?"
Vivian glanced at him. "It’s not that he came to steal your thunder. It’s that wherever he goes, the presence of any other man around him just fades."
"That’s why I’m so annoyed! He could have gone anywhere, but this is the one place he shouldn’t have come!" Ian Sterling suddenly saw something. "Speak of the devil... he’s here."
Vivian turned her head and saw Jett Sterling maneuvering his wheelchair into the cafeteria.
He wasn’t alone. A young woman was with him, dressed in a white sweater, a short skirt, and snow boots, looking pure and lovely.
Vivian’s brows furrowed instantly.
Ian Sterling, who loved to stir the pot, said, "I was worried he was going to come eat with us. Well, that’s not a concern anymore. He’s got a beauty by his side; he’s not going to bother with us."
Vivian’s gaze remained fixed on them. She watched as the young woman eagerly picked up a tray, asked Jett Sterling a few questions, and then went to get their food.
Jett Sterling found a table not far from Vivian’s, but he sat down calmly, as if he hadn’t even seen her.
A few moments later, the young woman returned with a tray of food and sat down across from Jett Sterling. Her voice was sweet and gentle. "Professor Quinn, please try our school cafeteria’s food. See if it’s to your liking."
"Thank you."
"You’re welcome. It’s my pleasure."
CLACK! Vivian slammed her chopsticks down on the table.
