Wedding Night: My Disabled Husband Made Me Cry-Chapter 129: Have a Child with Her First
"Who started this rumor?"
"I found an exposé on the campus forum. It posted photos of you and Mason Landon from back when you were together—I think at the hospital? They’re definitely not recent, anyway. That’s what started the rumor that you two are an item."
Vivian Quinn frowned. "Who made the post?"
"The post has already been deleted, so there’s no way to trace who sent it."
"If you can’t trace it, then forget it. It doesn’t matter."
"Hah! I knew it! You only ever ask me to do the unimportant stuff!"
Vivian Quinn chuckled. "That’s not entirely true. This is important too."
"I don’t believe you!"
"Believe what you want."
"Vivian Quinn, come on, I helped you out. Aren’t you going to at least treat me to a meal?"
Vivian Quinn raised an eyebrow. "Fine. Come to Sycamore Bay. I’ll treat you."
"Uh, so you really moved back in? Did you and my little uncle... you know... last night?"
"Stay out of this goddess’s business. I’m hanging up."
The taxi stopped at the entrance to Sycamore Bay. Vivian Quinn paid the fare and got out. A bodyguard came up to greet her. "Ma’am, why did you come back on your own? You didn’t have the driver pick you up?"
"It’s too flashy. Taking a taxi is just as good."
"Yes, Ma’am."
When Vivian Quinn entered the house, the first thing she saw was the man in the wheelchair, his expression exceptionally grim.
"What’s wrong? You look like someone just dug up your ancestors’ graves," Vivian Quinn asked curiously.
Jett Sterling turned his head to look at her. His eyes were dead calm, yet they seemed to be suppressing some powerful emotion.
Vivian Quinn couldn’t be bothered with him. She went upstairs, changed into some comfortable loungewear, and headed to the kitchen to find something to eat.
Dinner wasn’t ready yet, so Nanny Jenner prepared a pre-dinner fruit platter for her.
Vivian Quinn curled up on the sofa and ate her fruit. She could feel Jett Sterling’s eyes on her, but she ignored him completely. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
The two of them didn’t say a word to each other, maintaining zero communication even at the dinner table.
After finishing her meal, Vivian Quinn put down her chopsticks and went out for a walk.
Nanny Jenner hurriedly chased after her. "Ma’am, what’s going on with you and the Young Master?"
"Nothing’s wrong. Isn’t this our normal dynamic?"
Nanny Jenner: "..."
"Of course not! You and the Young Master used to be so affectionate. This sudden change... it’s honestly making me a little anxious."
"Just focus on your own work. Don’t let our affairs affect your mood." Vivian Quinn offered a small smile. "You should go eat. I’d like to be alone for a bit."
"Yes, Ma’am."
Vivian Quinn took a deep breath. The fragrance of the flowers in the garden slowly calmed her nerves.
She walked in the garden for over an hour before heading back. As she passed the study door, she suddenly heard someone inside say her name.
Vivian Quinn subconsciously stopped in her tracks.
"Jett, did you hear what I said?" Wendy Reeves said earnestly. "Things being what they are, nothing can change the past. Since you’re already married to Vivian Quinn, you can’t just get a divorce so easily."
"Yes, she had a child with another man, and that’s a thorn in my side too, but there’s nothing to be done about it now. What I’m saying is, even if you want to divorce her, you have to have a child with her first."
Vivian Quinn’s fingers subconsciously clenched the hem of her clothes!
"Do you have too much time on your hands?" Jett Sterling’s deep, detached voice sounded. "If you’re that bored, I can send you on a vacation."
"I’m not going anywhere! I’m staying right here to watch over you!" Wendy Reeves said peevishly. "My dear son, please, have a heart. Since you’re already married, just give your mother a grandchild. I’m truly terrified..."
"I’m not going to die," Jett Sterling cut her off. "I won’t let myself die. So rest assured, I’ll be there to take care of you in your old age."
In the end, Wendy Reeves said no more, but the sound of her stifled sobs soon came from the study.
Vivian Quinn didn’t stay to listen any longer. She returned to the master bedroom and sat on the sofa in a daze.
A short while later, the door was suddenly pushed open, and Jett Sterling wheeled himself in.
Vivian Quinn instinctively looked up. When she saw his troubled expression, her heart still felt an imperceptible pang of pain.
She quickly averted her gaze and went back to fiddling with her phone.
Jett Sterling didn’t say anything either. He didn’t feel the need to be discreet around her, so he stood up, walked to the closet to get a change of clothes, and went into the bathroom.
Vivian Quinn let out a breath and played on her phone absentmindedly.
Only after the sound of running water from the bathroom stopped did she stand up, vacating the sofa.
Jett Sterling had just stepped out of the bathroom when she grabbed her clothes and went in to shower.
But a moment later, a scream echoed from the bathroom. "AH!"
Jett Sterling froze for a second, then immediately spun around and rushed into the bathroom. Just as he feared, he saw Vivian Quinn sprawled on the floor!
"Vivian!" The man was alarmed and hurried forward to help her up. "Are you okay? Did you hurt yourself anywhere?"
"Jett Sterling, are you insane?!" All the pent-up frustration Vivian had been suppressing erupted like a volcano. She couldn’t hold it back anymore and broke down crying. "If you want to kill me, you don’t have to be so roundabout! Didn’t you think to wipe up all the water on the floor?"
"I don’t do things like that."
Vivian Quinn: "..."
"So now you’re blaming me?" She was so angry she laughed. "Blaming me for marrying you, is that it? Blaming me for mooching off you here? Jett Sterling, don’t you forget—you’re the one who came after me first!"
Jett Sterling sounded helpless. "Don’t be angry right now. First, let’s see where you’re hurt. Should I call a doctor to check on you?"
"No need!" Vivian Quinn glared at him, her cheeks puffed out in anger. "Even if I fall and die here today, that’s just my fate! You don’t need to take any responsibility for it!"
Jett Sterling frowned. "Don’t be difficult. If you’re really injured, the consequences could be serious."
Just as Vivian Quinn was about to retort, the world suddenly tilted as she was lifted off the ground.
The man swept her up into his arms, walked out of the bathroom, placed her on the bed, and took out his phone to call the doctor.
When the doctor came in, he greeted Jett Sterling, who was now sitting in his wheelchair, then quickly went to examine Vivian Quinn.
"Master Sterling, Mrs. Sterling has a minor sprain in her ankle, but it’s not serious. Some medication and two days of rest should do the trick."
Jett Sterling secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
Nanny Jenner patted her chest. "Thank goodness. It’s a good thing tomorrow is Saturday, so there’s no school. Ma’am can get two full days of rest at home."
"I’ll go get the medication," the doctor said before quickly leaving.
"Ma’am, let me help you take a quick rinse before we apply the medicine."
"Okay." Vivian Quinn endured the pain in her ankle as she took a quick shower. Once she was back in bed with the medicine applied, Nanny Jenner and the doctor quickly left.
Jett Sterling looked at her. "Get some sleep. If you need anything during the night, call me."
Vivian Quinn ignored him, turning over in a huff to face away from him.
Jett Sterling shook his head helplessly, turned off the lights, and went to lie down on the sofa.
They both fell asleep quickly. Late at night, Jett Sterling was woken by a faint sound. He snapped his eyes open and saw Vivian Quinn limping toward the bathroom.
Jett Sterling quickly threw off the blanket, got up from the sofa, and strode over. "Vivian Quinn, who told you you could get out of bed on your own!"
"Ah!" Vivian Quinn jumped in fright. Her footing faltered, and she suddenly fell backward!
With lightning-fast reflexes, Jett Sterling grabbed her arm and pulled her back!
Vivian Quinn stumbled into him. Neither of them could keep their balance, and as they both tumbled to the floor, her lips landed squarely on the man’s thin ones!
