Wedding Night: My Disabled Husband Made Me Cry-Chapter 123: She Hates Me
"It was an internal Sterling Family struggle. You wouldn’t know the people involved even if I told you. Even though it was a close relative, my uncle didn’t show any mercy. The guy had an arm and a leg broken and was sent to Zafara. His life from now on will probably be a living hell." Ian Sterling rested his chin on his hand and sighed. "My uncle is truly ruthless when he gets down to business. That’s why you should stay as far away from him as possible. Why are you being so self-destructive?"
Vivian Quinn yawned. "So you know everything?"
"Shane Shaw told me. He asked me to protect you."
Vivian Quinn glanced at him. "You can’t win against Jett Sterling. Be careful you don’t become cannon fodder."
Ian Sterling was indignant. "Vivian Quinn, what kind of way is that to talk? You’re looking down on me, aren’t you? No matter what, I’m still a Sterling. How could I not be able to protect you?"
"I don’t need your protection. Stay away from me." 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
"I refuse!" Ian shamelessly leaned closer to her. "I’m going to stick to you, just in case you get devoured by my uncle without even realizing it!"
Vivian Quinn: "..."
’This guy must be crazy!’
The first class of the morning was Mason Landon’s. Vivian Quinn was listening intently until her phone started to vibrate, and she glanced down at it.
It was a call from Easton Rivers.
Vivian Quinn ignored it, rejecting the call and continuing to listen to the lecture.
Less than twenty minutes later, the classroom door was pushed open, and Easton Rivers rushed in.
Mason Landon’s brow furrowed slightly. "What do you think you’re doing? We’re in the middle of a class. Please get out."
Easton Rivers ignored him, his expression tense as he scanned the classroom for someone. He soon spotted Vivian Quinn and rushed over. "Mad— Miss Quinn, I need to ask for your help. Our master is having an episode. Please, you have to go see him."
Vivian Quinn’s fingertips trembled, but her face remained expressionless as she spoke coldly, "I’m still a student. My medical skills are limited. I can’t help you, and I won’t go."
Easton Rivers was frantic. "If you don’t go, I’m afraid he won’t make it through this!"
"What does that have to do with me?" Vivian Quinn’s eyes were filled with resolve. "You can leave now, or I’ll call security."
It wasn’t just Easton Rivers; even Ian Sterling, who was sitting beside her, stared at Vivian Quinn in disbelief!
Mason Landon stepped forward, a flicker of a smile in his eyes. "Sir, please leave."
With no other recourse, Easton Rivers didn’t dare waste any more time. He could only grit his teeth and leave!
"Vivian, are you all right?" Mason Landon asked.
"Of course." Vivian Quinn’s lips curved into a smile as she raised her voice. "Sorry for the interruption, everyone. I’ll buy you all milk tea after class."
The other students naturally had no objections, and the class soon resumed.
「Meanwhile, in the master bedroom at Sycamore Bay.」
Jett Sterling was in agony on the bed, his hands tightly tangled in his own short hair, his eyes a sea of crimson!
"Master Sterling, Easton Rivers called. He said the madam refuses to come back to treat you. We have to give you a sedative immediately, or you won’t be able to take it!"
Jett Sterling froze. "What did you say?"
"I said we have to give you a sedative immediately—"
"The sentence before that!"
The doctor was so frightened he broke out in a cold sweat. "The ma... madam refuses to come back to treat you."
As if he had suddenly forgotten the pain, Jett Sterling let out a sudden laugh. "She hates me... She really has started to hate me..."
"Master Sterling..."
Jett Sterling closed his eyes in despair. "Give me the shot."
"Yes, sir!"
...
During the break, the milk tea Vivian Quinn had ordered arrived right on time.
She took one for herself. The sickly sweet liquid entered her mouth but couldn’t overcome the bitterness in her heart.
"Vivian Quinn, you’re so heartless," Ian Sterling challenged from beside her. "You know the old saying, ’a bond from one night as a couple brings a hundred days of grace.’ Even though my uncle betrayed you, don’t forget you two aren’t divorced yet. If he dies now, you’ll be a widow!"
Vivian Quinn handed him a cup of milk tea. "Here, drink this. It’ll shut your mouth."
Ian Sterling: "..."
"How can you be in the mood to drink milk tea?"
"And why shouldn’t I be?" Vivian Quinn chewed on the boba in her drink. "I’m in a great mood right now. The worse he feels, the happier I am."
Ian Sterling: "..."
"’Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned,’ the old saying is right."
"What did you say?"
"Nothing, nothing! Just ignore me, I was just talking out of my ass!"
Vivian Quinn ignored him and went back to drinking her milk tea.
In the evening, as Vivian Quinn was leaving the school, she saw Shane Shaw waiting for her at the gate from a distance.
Shane Shaw saw her too and immediately came forward to grab her arm.
"What are you doing?"
"Boss, I’m taking you to Sycamore Bay to see Jett Sterling."
"Are you crazy?" Vivian Quinn frowned. "When did I ever say I was going to see him?"
"But he’s dying! Easton Rivers said his condition this time is much more serious than before!"
Vivian Quinn pushed his hand away. "What does that have to do with me?"
"Boss, he’s dying, and you’re not even willing to go save him?"
"Whose side are you on? Did you forget what he did to me? Am I some kind of saint that I should go and save him?"
Shane Shaw was in disbelief. "Boss, saving a life is the greatest good deed! You weren’t like this before!"
"The past is the past. People change," Vivian Quinn said coldly. "Speaking of which, I should actually thank Jett Sterling. If it weren’t for him, how could I have grown up so fast?"
"Boss, you’ve really changed. I never thought... what happened with Jett Sterling would hit you this hard..."
Vivian Quinn remained noncommittal. "It seems you’re quite concerned about Jett Sterling. If you want to see him, go by yourself. I’m absolutely not going. I’ll just take a taxi, you don’t need to give me a ride."
Shane Shaw watched her get into a taxi, stunned into silence for a long time.
Suddenly, an amused voice came from behind him. "Why bother upsetting her and asking for a rebuff?"
Shane Shaw’s expression turned cold. He spun around to face Mason Landon. "You’re quite pleased with yourself, aren’t you?"
"I never wanted Vivian to become so cold-blooded. My only wish is for her to get a divorce. That’s all."
"That’s all?" Shane Shaw was seething. "Mason Landon, my boss used to be such a warm and kind person. She would show love and kindness even to stray cats and dogs on the street!"
"Now, because you meddled, she was betrayed and hurt, and that’s why she’s become like this! I’m telling you, I will never forgive you!"
"Whether you forgive me or not has no effect on me," Mason Landon said with a faint smile. "The only thing I want is Vivian."
Shane Shaw was too furious to speak. He shot Mason a glare full of warning, then got in his car and left.
Mason Landon was in an excellent mood. He took out his phone and made a call. "Help me find out if Jett Sterling’s episode today was real or if he was faking it."
"What’s there to find out?"
"Of course we have to check. If we don’t, how will we know when he’s finally going to die...?"
Vivian Quinn returned to her apartment, ate, worked out, and took a shower. Around nine o’clock, she called Joy Chase, then sat on her bed to read.
Suddenly, the doorbell rang. Vivian Quinn threw off her covers, slipped on a jacket, and went to open the door. Standing outside was Jett Sterling!
