Wedding Night: My Disabled Husband Made Me Cry-Chapter 121: Not Divorcing Anymore
Jett Sterling’s hand on the armrest slowly tightened, his lips pressed into a thin line.
"Madam, you’ve misunderstood!" Easton Rivers explained hastily. "How would I dare to presume such things about you? I was just asking out of concern."
"Easton," Jett Sterling said coldly as he slowly relaxed his grip. "You don’t need to say so much to her."
Vivian Quinn suppressed the rage in her heart, but her chest still heaved uncontrollably!
The elevator doors opened on the first floor, and she walked out without a single glance back!
Jett Sterling watched her cold, resolute back, and a sharp pain pierced his heart!
He longed to call out to her, but he couldn’t!
The medical team was useless; they still hadn’t developed an antidote. He didn’t dare to confront Mason Landon head-on!
Vivian Quinn hailed a cab on the roadside and returned to Shane Shaw’s apartment, where she lay in the rocking chair by the floor-to-ceiling window, staring blankly into space.
As the city lights began to flicker on, Mason Landon called. "Vivian, I’ll go with you to the Civil Affairs Bureau tomorrow morning."
"Getting a divorce isn’t exactly something to be proud of. I don’t need an audience."
"I’m not going to be an audience. You’ve just recovered, and I’m worried you’ll get agitated and something might happen, so I want to be there with you," Mason Landon explained. "If you don’t want me right there, I can wait in the car. I just don’t want anything to happen to you."
Only then did Vivian Quinn agree. "Alright, thank you."
"Saying thank you makes us sound like strangers. Vivian, you have to believe that you’ll be just fine."
Vivian Quinn looked up at the night sky outside the window, a smile touching her lips. "Yes, I’ll be better than fine..."
...
The rain that had been falling for days still hadn’t stopped. When Vivian Quinn went out, she carried a large, black umbrella.
She walked out of the apartment building and saw Mason Landon’s car parked at the entrance. "Vivian, get in. I’ll give you a ride."
Vivian Quinn didn’t refuse. She got into the passenger seat and turned to watch the streetscape outside the window.
"Vivian, you can talk about it if something’s bothering you," Mason Landon said with a gentle smile. "Or, what do you want for lunch? I can take you out. Don’t you girls all like to eat your feelings?"
Vivian Quinn pulled her gaze back from the window and turned to him. "Mason, you’ve never once thought about giving up on me, have you?"
Mason Landon didn’t deny it. "Vivian, I’m a devoted man."
"Even though I’ve had a child with another man? Even though I’ve had a... physical relationship with Jett Sterling? You’re still just as devoted?"
"Vivian, the heart wants what it wants." Mason Landon raised his right hand and pointed to his chest. "This... it belongs only to you. I can’t control it."
"I understand." Vivian Quinn turned her gaze forward, looking at the curtain of rain ahead. "I remember telling you this many times, but you’ve never wavered."
"Vivian, I never meant to pressure you," Mason Landon said, glancing at her. "I just want to be by your side quietly, to protect you from harm."
Vivian Quinn’s lips curved slightly, but she said nothing more.
By the time the car reached the Civil Affairs Bureau, the rain was falling even harder.
Through the sheet of rain, Vivian Quinn saw a familiar figure waiting at the entrance of the Bureau.
She got out of the car under her umbrella and walked over in her high heels.
Vivian Quinn was wearing a black dress today, giving her a cold and aloof aura. She looked like a completely different person from her usual self.
She walked up to Jett Sterling, and Shane Shaw, who had arrived earlier, immediately took her umbrella and closed it.
Vivian Quinn looked at Jett Sterling without saying a word. In the end, it was Jett who spoke first. "Let’s go in."
"Vivian," Mason Landon said, "I’ll wait for you here. Call me if you need anything."
"No need." Vivian Quinn gave a faint smile. "I’ve changed my mind. I’m not going to divorce him anymore."
Everyone was shocked!
Vivian Quinn looked calmly at a stunned Jett Sterling. "You look down on me for having another man’s child. You want to cast me aside like a worn-out shoe. Do you really think I, Vivian Quinn, am just some rag you can use when you want and toss in the trash when you’re done?"
Jett Sterling’s brow furrowed slightly. "So, what do you want?"
"I don’t want anything. I’m just not willing to accept this. To think I was foolishly preparing the divorce papers to leave with nothing... Looking back, I was so incredibly stupid."
"Name your price."
"Jett Sterling, you don’t actually think I changed my mind because I want your money, do you?" Vivian Quinn’s lips curled into a cold, faint smile as she looked at him. "I know you have plenty of money. But what I want isn’t money. What I want... is to skin you alive, to make you understand that I, Vivian Quinn, am not someone you can pick up and discard as you please!"
Jett Sterling said nothing, his gaze heavy as he watched her.
"Boss, why did you suddenly change your mind?" Shane Shaw asked aloud, but inwardly, he was applauding wildly!
’Not to mention, the boss’s aura just now was off the charts!’
Vivian Quinn didn’t answer Shane Shaw. She stared directly into Jett Sterling’s eyes and spoke, word by word, "You want a divorce? Fine. Go ahead and force me. Corner me until I have no choice but to beg you for a divorce. After all, you have no shame. There’s nothing you won’t do!"
"But let me give you a warning, Jett Sterling. The barefooted aren’t afraid of those with shoes. If you push me too far, I bite back. For every bit of pain you cause me, I’ll return it to you tenfold!"
After saying her piece, Vivian Quinn turned and left without another word.
Mason Landon snapped back to his senses and immediately ran after her. "Vivian, get in the car."
"No thanks. I can get home on my own."
"Why, Vivian?" Mason Landon grabbed her wrist, demanding, "Why won’t you divorce him? After everything Jett Sterling has done to you, why won’t you let go?!"
"I’ve already made it perfectly clear. I can’t swallow this insult."
"Vivian, this isn’t like you," Mason Landon said, confused. "With your personality, you’d normally make a clean break. You wouldn’t let yourself get entangled with him any further."
"Mason, you’re not me. You don’t know what’s going through my mind. If I swallow this insult today, he’s the one who gets off easy, and I’m the one who gets hurt. That’s why I refuse to have an amicable split with him. Because between him and me, there’s nothing ’amicable’ left to be said." Vivian Quinn pushed Mason Landon’s hand away. "From now on, don’t interfere in my affairs. This isn’t over between me and Jett Sterling, so I don’t want to drag you into it."
With that, Vivian Quinn turned and got straight into a taxi.
Jett Sterling stood frozen in place, unable to process what had just happened for a long time. Shane Shaw didn’t dare ask any questions, so he also opened an umbrella and rushed out to hail a cab.
When Shane Shaw returned to the apartment, Vivian Quinn had just changed into some casual clothes.
"Boss."
"Mm," Vivian Quinn responded, then asked nonchalantly, "What do you want for lunch? I’ll make it for you." 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
"How can I think about food right now? You still haven’t explained things to me!"
Vivian Quinn walked into the kitchen to pour a glass of water. "There’s nothing wrong with my ability to communicate, so the problem must be with your ability to comprehend. I was perfectly clear with Jett Sterling. He understood me, and I refuse to believe you didn’t."
"No, Boss, it’s not that. I understood every sentence you said, but I don’t get what it all means when you put it together. What are you planning to do now? Are you really not going to divorce Jett Sterling?"
